Thanks OP. I've been trying to get back into destiny 2 since launch and it feels like 90% of content is paywalled behind a DLC. Still not sure if it's worth it though.

Definitely not worth it. This year is a filler year for destiny 2. They should have made this the final chapter but instead they've ham fisted another year into the franchise. The final cutscene in Lightfall feels like it should be the opening one. Also all the content is now just hard mode, no more chill and shoot shit, time to get your "buildcrafting" on!

I'm not here to promote this game in any way, but a game can have overwhelmingly negative reviews while still providing entertainment and/or joy to some people.

I've been asking myself the same question the past 2 days since I started playing again. I just thought being away for a few years would mean there's a lot of content to catch up on. Turns out, nothing is worth doing except the strikes and the dailies / weeklies, just like it was at launch lol

Game is just turned into a rehashed checklist if "grind to collect these things" (same as every season). The story is garbage, and if you've played one season of destiny you've played them all.

New area is boring and empty, new subclass is a grind to unlock. People I play with actively avoid strand because it feels like a penalty to play.

Every update seems like bungie are incompetent game developers. The ui is still horrible, I would argue it is even worse than previously.
