  • Thanks OP. This seems to be the cheapest ever.

For dashcam it is a bit overkill? I bought two evo select from post earlier.

    • +3

This is better for dashcam as it is Endurance range (for long continuous recording). EVO Select is not rated for this task but you can still use them.

    • Depends how much you drive.

      • Not so much how long you drive, but more applicable to many dashcams now a day have parking modes. I have my dashcam to record for 12 hours after the car is parked.

        • +1

You're recording for 12 hours straight, every time? Isn't there some kind of "motion-activated" mode you could use?

In my dashcam, it uses about 10gb per hour. 12 hours would fill a memory card this size every use.

          • @outlander: Not how it works.

“Motion activated” refers to what it saves. Your dash cam is recording and writing data 100% of the time no matter what. It comes down to when it saves it.

Saving does not contribute to the wear of writing.

          • @outlander: There are different modes of Parking Mode. Mine is only recording at only 2fps during parking mode, not like 30fps when I am driving.

    • Nope not overkill

  • Anyone using this for a viofo a129 duo pro.
    https://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/1900013…

It's says it not recommended…doesn't say why.

    • Seem like due to how long it last? eg the SanDisk High Endurance 2 y warranty where as the Max Endurance get 15y warranty.

      • I understand what you're saying…but it makes no sense. I was under the impression they may have compatibility issues…..not sure how. It's just an sd card

    • +1

Ive been using the 128 and 256gb versions fine with that exact dash cam, no issues

    • I just installed in my viofo a129 duo plus seems ok so far
I do NOT recommend the samsung evo plus for this though. I had it in there before and the recording kept stopping and starting with lots of beeps - very annoying

      • If i had to choose again. I'd get the sandisk max endurance. keeps coming back as the most recommended.
I know its expensive but no point spending all that money on a dashcam if the recordings are failing

        • I mean it's only 35 on Amazon. I bought it 2 days ago for second car.

          • @Thinkswithelbow: well i always get 256gb so $75

and im saying i wish i got sandisk max endurance in the first place so recommending others not to make the mistake

      • +2

Same, i used an evo plus and when i got into a car accident, it corrupted the footage and lost days worth of footage and didn’t even write to the sd card,
The Samsung pro endurance on the other hand is amazing, I’ve had a 256gb version in it for a while now and it’s been great

        • glad to hear!

  • Is this a good one for security cameras?

    • +1

      Yes.

What advantages does this memory card have over, say, a floppy disk, which I can also afford

    • Stick to your day job.

      • Didn't expect this level of negs :(

        • I didn't neg you.

Price is ok but you can get Sandisk Extreme for a couple of bucks more and have it next day.

    • +1

Different purposes. The Endurance range (this one, Sandisk High Endurance and Max Endurance) are more for long continuous recording. The Sandisk Extreme is more for short duration recording e.g. digital camera or GoPro when you are not likely to record for over 1 hour at a time.

        1. Sandisk Endurance is actually about the same price as this deal.
        2. I'd trust Extreme over Endurance any day.
        3. Often it's the same memory rebranded. And if you look at the tech specs there are no differences stated.
      • viofo actually recommends sandisk extreme
        https://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/1900013…

        • Interesting.

          Sandisk Extreme is recommended but,

Sandisk Extreme Plus is not, WTH!!!!

    • No

    • No.

This one is Pro Endurance (as printed on the microsd itself)

  • $25.95 for the Sandisk High Endurance https://amzn.asia/d/0hfM8Pg

    • Pretty close in price. But which is better the Samsung or Sandisk?. Or is it both the same in quality.

      • I have been using with viofo at 1440p 60fps with no issues so far

  • $43.85 now

  • +4

Lots of people always bring up similar things whenever endurance cards get posted.

Just before you bring up your anecdotal references to how normal cards run fine. Please remember that unless you have tested and checked by reading back your data frequently you will have no idea if data loss or corruption has occurred. These are not hdd/ssds, they don’t have self reporting and they rarely are put in devices that do self reporting.

You will not get errors, you will not get notifications, you will not be told. Sometimes you might get lucky and something might happen that will hint something is wrong. But there are NO checks and balances to make sure your recordings/data are 100% as they should be without CHECKING.

The number of times I’ve witnessed people go to get recordings after an accident or incident to then find out that its actually corrupted and tell me “but it was working just fine!” makes me want to buy a billboard to explain this.

These drives exist for a reason, there’s a reason they’re recommended, there’s a reason you get guarantees/warranties/assurances with them from dashcam manufacturers (they’re not being paid for this). This isn’t some grand conspiracy to get more money out of you, in this case it’s a couple of dollars and a gamble that you’ll be fine at a time where you want nothing to go wrong.

    • You can tell that to syousef.
