Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including Feb 28 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. But you can ask a CSR to use the starter kit as a recharge. I think technically the service is activated on a new number and then your existing number/account is migrated across. The outcome is basically the same. Voicemail greeting needs to be recorded again.

Enjoy!

Happy to get a few more of these! I've been using them to sign up for extra JBHIFI Perks accounts and using the $10 coupons + PriceMatching other stores to get some really cheap accessories (e.g. phone chargers, usb-c cables, etc) and also for signing up to new Stickermule accounts to get the 10 stickers for $1.

      • +3

Just a word of caution, they monitor accounts using multiple Perks codes, you'll may face a ban from both online & in-store ordering. Had a colleague go through this some months after abusing this.

        • +2

Thanks for the heads up! Might disable/delete some of the accounts then after the sim expires.

        • Any more insights into what happened here?

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: I had my main account indefinitely banned when in store staff noticed multiple uses of the perks voucher across different orders. You might get away with it, just be aware of the risks.

      • Do you use the exact same name for all the created accounts?

        • +4

Nah, use a mix of my nickname, name, middle name, two surnames, etc. As long as they appear on my Id that i need to present when picking up, it should be ok. For email i use my single gmail account using the trick where you put a " . " In between to get unlimited accounts. E.g [email protected] will also work with anything like mucho.dinero , much.o.din.ero, mu.chodinero, and so on. They will all get sent to your normal gmail address

          • @pichxlonco: Gonzalo, is that you?

          • @pichxlonco: I checked with the colleague on the exact deets, highly likely once JB's fraud protection kicks in, JB Hifi has implemented a safety procedure where new Perks coupons are still issued to your email but are also somehow blacklisted. Once you visit a store to purchase, the cashier is presented with a prompt on screen to say your coupon is on hold for Reason XX and prevents you from in-store purchases. Online - you get order rejected/cancelled notice through email after completing the checkout.

@nsingh21: Thanks for that! have just created 3 accounts so far, but will wait until using the next ones (only if there is anything to buy. Alternatively will get a virtual credit card, use a different address and disposable email address when placing an online order.

              • +1

@pichxlonco: aah, I think this dude had 10+ lmao
Yep just be cautious and not go overboard.

  • Hmm I just activated the last one.

So wfh has become bmsafh (Boost Mobile SIM activation from home, pronounced “bum-safe”)

For sim sluts porting their main number here is an 84 day plan suggestion -

    Boost 28 days - Amaysim 28 days - Boost 28 days.

    • +2

I'm sticking with amaysim long expiry with my primary number for simplicity tho.

BTW you can pick some nice numbers from them.

      • +1

Hence why I said it was for sim sluts porting their main number.

        People have different needs.

        • +1

          Yup true.

      • +1

Better with annual Woolies for calls, with the monthly 10% off groceries (and the better-than-free Boost monthly sims for data).

    • +1

So Boost is the bread, and amaysim is the filling… as always, don’t forget to use protection

      • +1

Isn't the 4th layer to be Amaysim?

    • +6

      I do Boost - Felix - Boost

Felix is still free with the code GREEN

      • +1

Thanks for this. Didn't know Felix was still free.

      • +1

Thanks for that! I was considering Felix if boost ran out of profits someday.

      • What’s the link please and thank you!

        • It's just a code. Don't think it's been posted as a deal and I couldn't find anything when I googled "felix mobile GREEN". Maybe I need ChatGPT

      • Felix subscription not accepting GREEN as a promo code for me - “Sorry, that code is invalid.”

      • +2

Sorry guys, seems they've killed GREEN now. Worked for me last week.

      • +1

I guess only FINDER50 is still working

    • What about getting a $1 prepaid SIM, port out to Optus/Voda & back in to Boost same day?

      • That’s a code brown

  • for those interested, this deal "Expires: Apr 21, 2023, 11:59:00 PM"

    • +1

Thanks. But I could have really used another 59 seconds

    • Still holding up till last day to see if there is extra CB.

  • Can this be stacked with Chashrewards $10 targeted bonus?

    • Yep.

      • Thank you

  • Perfect time

  • Anyone had issues where you didn’t receive certain batches of SIM cards you ordered? The Auspost tracking website would have a return to sender status.

I called up Auspost enquiring about this and was told because of the rigidity of these SIM cards inside an envelope, the scanning machines at the Auspost facility sometimes are unable to scan these letters properly and therefore are returned to sender (before the letters even got to the postman).

This is annoying because I am missing out on those cashback bonuses (because I think it’s just too complicated to ask Boost to resend the SIM cards and having the same cashback tracked, so I tend to ask Boost to just process a refund and I forgo on the cashback).

If anyone have the same issue but have a better solution please let me know!

    • +2

Sorry — no solution — but you must be the one keeping Boost Mobile solvent

      • +1

Happy keeping them solvent as long as I am getting my capital back with some interest on top.

    • +1

Have experienced some of my order batches not arriving at all. The tracking number says it has been "Left in a safe place" at my address, but it has not actually been delivered. Called up Boost and they offered me full refund of those batches luckily.

    • +1

I've had this happen - not a batch but an order that was returned to sender stating there was a problem with my address. Another order placed within minutes to the same address arrived normally.

It was one of the yearly sims and Boost ended up doing a recharge on my existing service instead of me needing to get a new sim and do a dance swapping my number over.

CR approved without me needing to explain anything to anyone which was nice.

      • Did Boost canceled the order in the system for that SIM card that didn’t arrive?

        • +1

Presumably not given CR paid out? They probably marked it as completed or whatever they do.

  • +4

Boost just sent an email stating that they're increasing prepaid SIM prices. Hope these profitable cashbacks continue though!

    • $5 up for $30/mth and $40/mth. It seems the current unactivated SIM will need a $5 top-up for activation from 4 July.

      • $5 to activate? Anyone able to confirm this regards to unactivated sim with credit?

        • Boost just says purchased recharge voucher is usable from 4 July, but does not mention the difference you need to pay. Logically, the customer may need to pay.

          • +2

@Neoika: ''On July 4, 2023, all new SIM kits and recharge vouchers will be updated with our new prices and inclusions. Only customers with pre-existing SIMs or recharge vouchers are able to redeem old price points. Once it expires, their next recharge will follow the new price points. All new SIM kits and recharge vouchers will be updated on July 4, 2023. If you activate an old SIM or recharge before July 4, you'll receive the inclusion under the old pricing that was originally available prior to the launch date.''

            • @dingdong3000: OK, thanks for the information.

            • @dingdong3000: With that being said, I can imagine that no bonus data will be received for an old SIM/voucher upon activation/recharge as the promotion will only apply to the new plans from 4 July. For example, it is very likely that a $30 SP with 20GB+25GB upon activation for the first 3 recharges will be only 20GB+25GB.

  • I just went through my CR click history, and they denied all my clicks! Had to submit half a dozen claims. 😡

  • Am I wasting my effort by always using my wifes account on her phone and mine on my phone? Do they track device ID’s? Paranoid

    • +4

you realise this deal is unlimited right? you can do as many as they let you order

  • +1

Activated but only shows 20G not 40G…

    • Bonus 20GB/25GB shows separately. There may be a delay.
