Very well made game, that was way too difficult for me.

  • +1

Amazing game, worth the money, especially for this price

  • +1

Great find. A very well made game and perfect for the Switch.

Indie World presentation tonight, could see Silksong…

    • +3

Oh man I hope so.. but no longer believe. Surely not releasing this close to Zelda.

    • +2

"Xbox has narrowed the Hollow Knight: Silksong release date, and has confirmed that the long-awaited title will drop before June 2023"

      Before June 2023, let's hope

      • +3

I remember seeing that confirmed last year, but the 10 months of radio silence since have made me lose hope.

  • How does it run on Switch any performance/frame issues

    • I 100% completed it on the switch and it runs perfect really.

    • Silky smooth 60 fps. I believe it's 720p in both handheld and docked, which works fine.

Support the developers from Adelaide :)

    • That's awesome, didn't realise !

  • +2

    Might be my favourite game

  • +3

Great game. Almost gave up on it I the beginning. But my advice is to keep pushing through. Once you upgrade your stuff and get used to enemy attack patterns, you get better! Loved the game.

  • +1

Great title and definitely worth this price. I played it on gamepass and it's the very rare game I decided to buy a copy even when finished and support team cherry. Very tempted to pick it up in switch and give it another playthrough.

Looking forward to silksong coming soon to revisit this series for a fresh game.

Amazing game. I played it initially and couldn't figure out, but once I got hold of things, this is probably one of my favourite games to play even after finishing it. At this price it's a steal. Also support the Aussie Developer.

Everyone needs to buy this 100%

Thank you, my son will be in for a nice surprise this weekend!

Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition is currently on Gamepass

    • Pretty sure #2 coming out this year too?

    • +2

This is also Voidheart Edition - all versions of Hollow Knight received all of the extra content packs for free :)

      Best value proposition in gaming.

  • Thanks!

If you're new to metroidvanias, or souls-like games or just not interested in getting frustrated as you get lost, following a guide for the first bit of the game and then using a completed map to find where to go after that is probably the way to go. This was my first metroidvania, I love it to bits and have beaten all but the final pantheon, but my first playthrough I spent so many hours backtracking and being lost because I didn't understand what was a puzzle and what was something that required a new ability.
So if you're a noob, use a guide before dropping it and you'll have a lot more fun.

  • Is this similar to Dead Cells?

    • +1

Not really, beyond both being 2D games where you unlock new abilities to facilitate future exploration.

Hollow Knight is about intense platforming, fighting a huge range of bosses and exploring the world whereas Dead Cells is more about succeeding from run to run.

    • +1

They are both metroidvanias at heart, but hollow knight is on the adventure side and Dead Cells is on the roguelite side.

    • +2

Similar in the sense of they are both hard as hell in places. I played hollow knight then dead cells off the back of it as it was highly recommended as another 2D fighting title.

Hollow knight is one big world you can soak up and work through the story, if you die you just go to he last save and try again. It's very much a Metroidvania with explore, find a power up which allows more exploring, but after the first hour or two the subtle guidance in offer is gone and it's a free for all. Augmentations can be swapped out at save spots so you aren't locked in to one set up like the scrolls in dead cells sort of push you to do.

Both games have a lot of elements of die and retry, dead cells you can lose an entire run as punishment for a mistake which sucks and makes it harder to preoare for a boss. Hollow knight is very tight controls that if you die to a boss you will work out why as it's usually your own fault, be back in there quickly and learn from the mistakes to progress. It's very beatable with this approach even if considered hard, the truly difficult things are entirely optional. Then again that's like dead cells once you hit 3BC and above.

If you like dead cells and have played to 2BC and still enjoy it it might we'll be worth trying hollow knight at this price. The big thing that might out you off is the being lost and backtracking from time to time to use new abilities, but the world is very well designed to point you to places if you pay attention. For anyone who has played it I highly recommend the game makers toolkit video on the level design.

      • I don't think I even got to 2BC on dead cells πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I really enjoyed it up to a certain point though!

        • +2

I liked Hollow Knight a lot more than Dead Cells, but a lot of that was probably the story and atmosphere. Gameplay is great though.

  • +1

Favourite game of our family. Don't hesitate.

  • sigh.. i have triangle strategy. octopath ii and zelda to start… I wonder when I will end up playing this >.<

  • Obviously brilliant gameplay, exploration. Great atmosphere in this game. The score, individually themed sections. Unique experience. I don't really play these kinds of games but looking forward to Silksong.

  • I gave up on playing this. :( Which is a shame as I loved Super Meat Boy and Ori.

I rarely give up and retire games, but the only time I get to play this is at night time, and the game is so dang good with it's atmosphere and soothing score. And why does it have to have fading blackness in the edges. I'm a dad with kids, so this puts me to sleep quicker than a lullaby when I finally have a chance to game at night.

I did re-add it to my "longlist" backlog recently. I just need to have it there like an annoying an old friend, that I don't want to get rid of completely out of my life LOL

  • Great game, but already so cheap no one should need a discount for hollow knight it’s worth every penny.

  • This rarely goes on sale on switch. So snap it up if you've been waiting.

  • +1

My 12yo girl absolutely loves this game and it was really rewarding to see her skill grow from complete noob to demi God of platforming! She even learnt the theme song on the piano. Amazing to think this game was made by 3 guys from Adelaide.

Please let team cherry get silksong out this year!!

  • Goat game.

Great game, but too hard. It's actually pretty obnoxious that there isn't a range of difficulty levels so that everybody who pays money for a product is able to enjoy it.
