Would this have been better than those Xaomi clocks with temperature and humidity? I do hate using the Mi Home app and connecting over bluetooth takes a million years each time, and has to be done one by one for each clock.

    • Yeah, I had 4 of those and I've just 4 of these to replace. Tee bluetooth was slow as and the battery life wasn't amazing.

      • You say you have 4. what are they used for? do you measure humidity in all rooms?

A wine fridge, our bedroom, under the queenslander where one dog is and under the deck where the other dogs are.

          Four!

Time to hand in your home monitor badge.
I currently have eight T & H plus three T only sensors all logging to a data base. In my previous home I had more and it was all part of a home automation system.

    • Why not get a Xiaomi hub and link the clocks to it instead?

      • I didn't know it was an option. Do you mean this thing https://www.amazon.com.au/Xiaomi-Mi-Smart-Home-Hub/dp/B08NVG…

        • +1

Yup, but get the one that has Bluetooth support, e.g. this. If you buy the other home automation bits it'll let you automate things too, e.g. turn on the AC if the temp is X, or turn on the lights if this door is opened and it's dark, etc.

The hub will also let you log temp and humidity so you can see the history over the past month (or 6 months, apparently).

Could you please put "Indoor" in the title?

    • Yeah, I thought it was for meat and couldn't believe the price. Maybe it was just my naivety in that area.

      • Looks like it would be painful if it's you tried to use it internally.. oh wait….

  • Doesn't seem compatible with Google home?

    • -2

      Did you Google it?

  • OP - do you have something similar for pool water temperature ?

    • +4

here the bluetooth one : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223769149085
here the wireless one : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224489998817
can use the ssame code to get 15% or 17% off
      thanks

    • Silly question and I have a pool myself but why would I want to know the temperature for the pool? If it’s cold it’s cold regardless it water temperature is -5C to -20C (whatever the range is). I’ll always know it’s going to be cold and if it’s a sunny day the pool might heat up a little bit but apart from that what’s the use case for this?

      • +2

I use mine to run the solar pool heater manually. The pump itself is connected using a wifi plug so I can heat the pool when I'm not home and turn it off once it reaches temp.

        • Interesting, I’ve got a solar pool heater too, like it’s solar panels but I’ve been told it’s only good when it’s really sunny to heat up the panels and then you can heat up your pool. Although this would take some time to heat up the pool because that’s a lot of water to pump through to heat it up.
How long would it take for you to heat up your pool and is the end result luke warm temperature?

      • +1

Don't some people heat their pools? Do you heat yours?

        • Just to expand on my previous post but it would take some time to hear up my pool and it’ll be only effective during summer. So during summer you don’t mind swimming in cold water because that’s why you want to jump in the pool to cool off.

For some reason I thought I could use it during winter but it’s not as warm like summer to heat the solar panels enough during the day so yeah to make it warm by night time. So essentially for me I don’t heat my pool

      • Use case - geek factor :)

Has anyone got these working in Home Assistant? They're not listed on the HA / Integrations / Inkbird page.

    • +2

      not now

      • Cheers

    • Anyone know of a similar product that does work with HA? Inside and pool.

      • I use the Zigbee Aqara ones around the house; I don't know of a pool/outdoor one.

Alternatively, you can flash these with new firmware pretty easily (go to a webpage with Chrome on your phone, giver Chrome Bluetooth access, set the options you want and flash over the air). They'll then talk to HA over Bluetooth low energy.

      • INKBIRD IBS-P01B works with home assistant passive ble integration. Bluetooth Range on the inkbird is pretty bad but solvable if you can get a BT proxy close enough to the pool.

      • here the bluetooth one : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223769149085

Linked above works fine in HA, I use one in the pool

      • I use the Govee H5075 Hygrometer (for indoor use), it works brilliantly with Home Assistant. Goes on sale every few months for $18 or less:
        https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08DJ5HF1G/

The iOS app is not bad and has a fair number of features, but the HA integration is where it really shines. Bluetooth only, uses 2x AAA batteries which is enough to last for a few months.

If you want longer battery life or prefer AA batteries you can go for the Wifi H5179 version, but this is more expensive and has no display so it's purely for app or HA use.
        https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09CKZGBC7/

I own both models but I prefer the Bluetooth only version.

        Link to HA integration:

  • Does this work with the same apps the the ihc/itc devices work with or is another install required?

    • work with same app "INKBIRD"

      • I'm currently using Inkbird Pro, is that supported on the IBS-TH3?

        • I guess that's a no

  • Thanks OP, got one.

  • Will this device be suitable for use within a greenhouse in range of 2.4Ghz WiFi?

OP, what's the IP rating of the sensor?

    • Don't think its waterproof

    • +1

Mine lasted one summer in the pool skimmer box. I suspect waves from jumping in and when the pool overfilled due to rain contributed.

  • Is the data stored locally on the device or is it sent to the cloud? What if there is a drop in wifi connectivity? Will you lose the data when wifi is offline?

  • Thanks, grabbed a few.

  • Damn OoS. Missed out. Would love a restock / another deal with more stock if possible.

    • +1

Keep an eye on it, it showed as OoS for me and then in stock after a refresh a few minutes later.

    • A few back in stock

  • Back in stock, but slightly more expensive

  • @Inkbird Are you likely to have more stock soon?

    • hi, will back in stock after 2 weeks ,but not with such a big discount.

  • so i got one of these to monitor the temperature in my man cave (a shed) that doesn't have aircon. How can i set it up so i can ask alexa "what is the temperature in the cave or shed or whatever" and alexa tells me the temp? does it also work with google?

  • +1

Any one received theirs and had any trouble getting them connected to wifi? Have checked all the recommended settings and they just dont want to connect!

    • My unit didn’t even power up after trying different batteries so I’ve contacted them for a replacement. I found the inside of the power connection a bit weird on the positive because it’s a wire connection type thingy as opposed to a head power connector thingy. Normally the wire part would be at the bottom (negative)
