Ford Falcon 2013 ECO LPI Giving Engine Light after Priming

Ford Falcon is Giving engine light after priming and shakes. There was a sound in the pump too and a loud one WRRRRRRRRRR, then it stopped. It does gives engine light sometimes and not always.

I did go to the mechanic, and they said could be the pump gone and quoted 1700 bucks. Please let me know what needs to be done as the car runs beautifully as the engine lights goes off.

"Ford falcon is Giving engine light after priming and shakes. There was a sound in the pump too and a loud one WRRRRRRRRRR. then it stopped. That probably.

    • GPT-ified version:
"The Ford Falcon car is having some problems. After priming, the car is giving an engine light and shaking. There was also a loud noise coming from the pump that sounded like "WRRRRRRRRRR" before it stopped. Sometimes the engine light appears, but not always. The car was taken to a mechanic who said that the problem could be the pump and that it would cost $1700 to fix. However, the car runs well when the engine light is not on. Please advise on what needs to be done."

Does that help? OpenAPI is awesome at translating illiterate gibberish into English.

This is known as engine diagnostics from someone that has no idea

And unless OP can take the car to someone with specific mechanical knowledge and a scanner to check out the error codes, then nobody here will have any idea

  • I need to know what the issue when the car is running all right? Could it be the sensor?

    • Have is had been checked for error codes?

    • It has an issue when running all right?

      • Actually no issue when its running alright. It runs beautifully.

Seems to be a problem after priming

Why is OP priming the car???

        • +1

Might be his routine. He is having a shake then priming the car.

  • yes and it showed P0087
FUEL RAIL/System Pressure to low, but the cost of repair is mind-blowing?

      • That’s was succinct. Nice site

        • Thanks. It was literally the first result from Google for P0087 Ford Falcon.

      • Well done

        problem solved!

    • Does the car have an issue with power? How well does it accelerate? If you have full power (hard acceleration test), then it is unlikely to be the fuel pump. In that case I would suspect the fuel pressure sensor.
Do a search for your diagnostic code, and see possible causes. Then perform some basic test to narrow down on possible cause.
There is no point in spending money replacing parts if they are still functional.
Always start with the quicker and cheaper options.

    Try a falcon forum.

So a qualified mechanic standing in front of the car with an OBD2 scanner could not formally diagnose the issue with confidence.

    But providing…

There was a sound in the pump too and a loud one WRRRRRRRRRR

to a bunch of internet randoms will give you a definitive answer?

    FFS.

    • I think OP should be asking the possibility of a fuel pump fails intermittently whilst sometimes still drives absolutely fine.

And whether it costs $1700 to replace a fuel pump on a Ford Falcon.

    • Check the following bro:
      Crank angle sensor
      MAF sensor
      DPF
      Ignition coils
Engine block to make sure you haven’t put a hole in it

      They Didn’t work?

      Good! They weren’t supposed to

      Now try the following
      - Speak to your mechanic and or get a second opinion
      - If you must get misleading advice from the internet at least go to a dedicated car forum

Just like any industry there are lots of useless and scammy mechanics. OP is doing right before potentially wasting $1700.

  • Get another quote?

  • Could be the SCV.

    • +2

      SCV good to go sir!

  • Maybe someone took a wizz in your gas tank.

    • @iNeed2Pee ?

      • +3

My pee is still as ethanol 10 graded hahaha so they should be good to go!

    • How did they get it into an lpg tank?

  • +7

if the sound was RWWWWWWWWWWWW then I could have helped. sorry

  • +2

Soon: the engine light will glow beautifully as the engine turns off..

  • Try a Ford forum you might get help there.

  • Surprised no one has mentioned whirlpool since it’s an LPG falcon…

  • and they said could be the pump gone and quoted 1700 bucks

Try another mechanic and see what they say…

but sometimes things cost a lot to repair

  • Stay away from normal mechanics with LPG, you'll get some bad advice. Look for a LPG specialist, they'll be able to get parts second hand easily as some items have a date code, that can be re-certified.

  • Thanks everyone!1

    • Australian Ford forums have an excellent sub forum thread on the Ecolpi.(I use to own one.)
