  • Nice and tempting. Would be even better if it had eco-drive

    • +2

      Citizen automatics are pretty robust.

      Definitely a sexy dial.

Would get if i didn't have 5 divers watches. lol

      • +1

Just dive five times a week.

        • +1

          Does desk diving count?

      • I would take an Eco-Drive over a Miyota 8204 any day of the week (I own multiples of both). The Miyota 8000 series are pretty robust for sure, but they are a fairly ordinary movement, and I would personally prefer the Eco-Drive at that point in the market.

      • One on each wrist, one on each ankle and one… err..

    • Nice looking watch and deal OP.

I'd also prefer an ecodrive these days (Solar Quartz), but autos don't take that long to set (except if they have a day and date).

    Nice first post OP

I’m a simple man, I see green dial, I upvote.

      i see titanium, i upvote

  • Nice watch, but is there a specific reason the crown is placed in the bottom left hand corner?
That would annoy the heck out of me wearing this watch with the crown digging into my wrist.

    • Citizen do this all the time.

From what I read its their method to prevent the crown being dug into the wrists especially for diving.

But I personally don't have this issue with my divers that have the crown on the 4 O'clock mark and have used it for diving too.
A Nato strap also negates this issue as well.

    • +1

To protect the crown and to prevent the crown digging into your wrist

    • -3

It could only dig into your wrist if you wear it on your right arm.

    • +1

Huh? It's less likely to dig into your wrist, in this position (assuming you wear it on your left wrist).

      • Yeah i think they confused or meant if they wear it on their right hand.
For right handers it would be a bit hard setting the time and 4 o'c isn't in the way anyway..

Just trying to be different IMO.

        • +2

If it's truly being used for Diving you would set the time before you go diving.

You wouldn't do it under water.

All you really adjust under water is the bezel.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Huh.. if you're wearing it you should set the time anyway. Who the hell would undo the crown under water (breaking the seal and ruining your watch).

Also I don't know anyone who goes diving these days without a dive computer, so it's mostly a fashion piece.

            • @G-rig: You're missing my point.

That is what I'm trying to point out.

Doesn't matter where the crown is or if it's on your left or right wrist, you would set the time before dive anyways.

So left and right doesn't matter.

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: goes without saying mate
never said I'd set it under water - who the hell would!!

      • If you wear on your left wrist and your hand goes back wards with a normal right sided Crown.
The Crown will dig into the back of your hand/wrist

If the Crown is situation on 8 o clock mark like this Citizen, it apparently negates this being dug into your wrists from what I read online as their aim.

But as I said, from experience I don't have this issue with crowns based at the 4 O clock mark and I wear a nato which raises it up a bit higher than a steel bracelet. Maybe ones situated at the 9 O Clock mark make cause discomfort for some people

        • Yeah not even a problem unless you wear it loose, which you wouldn't with a dive watch (most are big and heavy). 4 o'clock is good, like the steeldive. Even at 3 o'clock most have a crown guard which make it more flush.

I also said i don't think crown at 4o'c or 8o'c would dig into your wrist and best wearing it fitted not loose.

  • beautiful watch

  • Good watch for lefties.

    • +4

I'm left handed and wear my watch on my left. Am I doing it wrong?

      • Do you find doing adjustments hard when the crown is being adjusted by your non dominant arm?

      • +1

Not at all! I’m right handed and wear mine on my right lol.

      • +2

Left handed, left wrist watch wearer gang unite

        • +1

It just feels weird on my right arm.

          • @WatchNerd: Yeah, for a while I was wearing my Apple Watch 7 on right just to trial it because it can be set to rotate accordingly for right wrist but just feels weird.

  • -5

In divers style watch, watch hands look like dicks.

    • +7

Your comment tells us more about you than you intended.

      • -2

        cmon, you cannot deny that

  • +12

It looks nice until you see the undies at twelve that cannot be unseen

    • +1

That ruined this watch for me. Cannot unsee now. 🙄

      • Big pair of Y-Fronts lol…

Just get a green steeldive (although I prefer black).

    • I think you just kills the deal for me lol

    • neat reminder to change your undies lol

  • +1

Surprised to see mineral glass for a ~$1500 RRP watch… that doesn’t seem right?

    • yeah obviously not worth $1,500 - don't know anyone who would pay that (just like Seiko's ridiculous RRPs)

    • I'm surprised you aren't surprised people paying $8-10k for Hesalite.

  • Sorry noob quiz, is this comparable https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770635 ? or apple vs pipleapple ?

    • +2

Apple vs Chocolate. Completely different watch

    • +2

The movements are very similar (same frequency, similar power reserve and rated accuracy) however, one is a dress watch and the other is a dive watch.
If this is a first watch, the Citizen would make for a better first watch than the Seiko (more versatile).

      • Thanks for that, I do like that looks of that Seiko though

        • +1

If you prefer the Seiko, you should get it. You want something you like and will want to wear.
To be fair, I would wear that Seiko outside of dressy occasions. I'd put it on a brown strap, though, like the one Muzeeb mentioned. I think it looks much better on strap.
You'll just want to be mindful of that domed mineral crystal.

I think this Citizen could be dressed up, down, sideways and wouldn't look out of place in the paddock or at dinner.
If I was to buy one, it would be the Seiko. I already have multiple 'beater' type watches and I really like the look of the Seiko on a strap. It's something different to what I already have.

          • @O15: Ah yes the brown strap does looks nicer with it. Do you happens to know where I buy that brown strap ? I already saw the ''under wear'' in this Citizen :( as this user pointed out https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13667451/redir

            • +1

@frewer: Not sure where that strap is from. The Reddit poster does not say.
Have a look at Sydney Strap Co. They have a good range of straps and are very affordable.
Artisan Straps are also very good but they cost a decent bit more (they allow you to customise your strap, though).

              • +1

@O15: Also look at Barton straps from the US, fairly long delivery (2w but probably better than most at a good price - often have 25-30% off and free postage).

  • im getting $696?

    • Looks like sale is over.
