Lagavulin 16

Unfortunately these are cheap prices now days.
My stash of both is running low so I will be running down to Uncle Dan's tomorrow and flashing my phone for a price beat.

Definitely not "record low" prices for either but I doubt we will see either sold for less ever again, hopefully a few people find this useful.

Cheers op for the post. Good price for eagle rare atm.

The below is not for everyone and if you don't have a bws nearby or the bws store near you doesn't have stock then ops deal is best for you.

Some bws stores may still have eagle rare on clearance for $91 bucks.

Limited stores only you may luck out at your local.

Quick check these stores have stock. This is not a complete list by any means just did a quick check on capital cities exc NT.

Dickson ACT where I picked up a bottle from a while ago at 91 still has stock and is the only place left in Canberra.

Glebe nsw postcode 2000 has stock

Bws royal oak drive north Adelaide have stock

Perth subiaco square and Mt Hawthorne East have stock.

Hobart - aberfeldy and Eastlands drive have stock.

Spin up a new account and use S8n3-T4p-e7u (make sure you use lowercase and it applies correctly, may need to remove and do again) for $10 off 50 spend to bring down to $81 bucks (this is what I did)

Better than cashback offers atm too using the above code.

Use reward dollars for everyday rewards or rewards offers for bws if you have them too ie spend x get y points.

      Impressive detective work!
But dang nothing in my area, I want to get a case for home, life doesn't feel right without ER10 in the bar, and prices (as are for all Buffalo Trace juice) is getting silly.

  • Thanks OP. How much will Dan Murphy's beat the price by? I note they do it online too - if you leave it until the morning you might be too late, they might have already beaten the price by 5c then.

    • I don't actually know, Ive never paid proper attention to the discount I just know it's less! I'm usually chatting away with the liquor manager at my local and all I know is everytime I ask him to price match he reminds me it's a price beat.

  • I get the appeal of Laphroaig, Ardbeg. The Lagavulin, Caol Ila are not that great, are they?

    • +3

It is subjective to you and you alone. If you enjoy it who cares what others think, albeit prices will go up as more ppl want them.

To me Lagavulin 16 > Carol Ila > Ardbeg > Laphroaig

    • +2

      Definitely subjective.
Lagavulin and Caol Ila have way more sherry influence than the other two, which are often regarded as benchmarks for peat monsters, so straight away if thats your bag then go with it, but they're all "good" in the strictest sense of pure quality.
I like Lagavulin, don't care for Caol Ila, but always have Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Lagavulin in my bar as not having them would feel like not having salt and pepper in the kitchen.

  • Any good deals on the Glenfarclas?

    • Buy Glenfarclas overseas is my recommendation. Macallan 12 and Glenfarclas can be had very cheap (A$30 - 40). Even you add the taxes, Australian retail price is unjustifiably high.

I bought 2 bottles of Eagle Rare and returned one, imo it's a pretty bad bourbon.

Oh wow, it's my favourite bourbon under $100.

      What is your drop?

      • Honestly JD single barrel is hard to beat. Every year for the last 20yrs on my birthday I buy one or 2 bottles of top shelf bourbon and eagle rare was awful.
Nant was great, Mitchers, a few others I'd have to go home and have a look.

Many reviews from customers saying that wine was not delivered, failed to get refund/response from this company, see

Their website is dodgy AF too, if they're not a scam they're sure as hell doing a good job looking like one

Legend, just got Dan's to price beat this! $72 per bottle!

      • +1

        same here thanks for that!

  • I bought the eagle rare last week when the local bws had it on clearance plus shopback/Westpac deal, cost me $60, it is really nice drop at least for what it costs.

Here's one for any bourbon nerds out there, not a "bargain" so not worth a seperate post but these guys have a French exclusive bottling of Buffalo Trace 90 proof for $70, I'm about to go and pick a couple up.
I snoozed on it last week when they had 1litre bottles of Buffalo Trace 90 proof (us bottling) for $90 and they're now sold out.

    https://thedrinksociety.com.au/products/buffalo-trace-45-90-…

    • Thanks for posting that I’ve been drinking the 40% for a while now but constantly wondering what the actual 90 proof tastes like in comparison. Guess I’ll find out!

      • +1

The extra proof makes a world of difference, I cannot justify buying the Australian release as it's just so thin and unsatisfying in comparison, it's not "bad", but once you've had the real stuff you can't go back, so be warned!

In saying that I haven't had this French version before but hopefully it's pretty similar to the standard US stuff.

Thanks OP, picked up a bottle of Lagavulin.

the NWM5PC discount code is still valid.
