    • can confirm no need for member login etc, thanks OP

  • i always use 5w30
is this a summer oil, is that why its on sale since we are going into winter?

    • 5w-30 is a very common recommendation for modern 4 cylinder engines from makers HOWEVER if you check your manual you'll see in the recommendations for certain temperature ranges it's questionable whether it's the 'best' choice for Australian condition (IMHO).

I know for my car atleast, the 5w-30 is recommended for temps up to 40c. But thats significantly exceeded on many days in summer, moreso when you take into account the additional environmental factors that make it far above this for the engine e.g being in heavy traffic, on black roads etc

Winter & Summer oils are far more a thing in other parts of the world with huge temp changes, something we have in very little of Australia.

W for winter and which means both 5W have same viscosity in winter. But in summer 40 provided better protection than 30. So yes and no to your question and if you car takes either of the two then it really depends on how many kms your engine has done and whether you want better fuel economy or better protection in summer.

      • wow. thanks for this info.
        always just bought oil.
never thought to comprehend what the letters and numbers meant.

Now wondering if im better to get the 30 or 40 for warmer parts of australia.
        Like Queensland and Northeen Queensland.

Sounds like a crock since its not MB229.5 approved at all…

He didn't say it was approved only that it meets the standard, quite often the difference between approved and meets is $ paid to the approval company

    • Who cares about the 3 prong repository car company. nice body shame about the face. Another words nice cars but reliability pretty much……. saying that toyota ain’t much better with the new 300 series land yacht that has bad drinking problem. 1.7 litres per oil change. another lose 1/3 of oil before oil change. So good buy for topping up your new land yacht.

  • sweet…
    thanks

couldnt click and collect them online, but bought in store for this awesome price

  • Good deal!
Looks like they've fixed up their site, everytime you try add it, it reduced it to 0 and says:

Unfortunately the quantity you chose exceeded the maximum order quantity for this product. The quantity in your cart has been reduced to the maximum order quantity.
They also said updated the item to say "This is an In-store only item not to be bought online."

  • Yeah good price consider none of the full synthetic oil has come close to $30 after the COVID price hike.
