2 for 1 not even worth it imo. Tiny burgers at an absurd price.

    • +1

      How much are they?

      • +6

The ones on the deal are on the expensive end of what they've got, the deluxe is 15.90, but two for that price I don't mind paying.

      • $15-$18

        • +7

          Just double checked the prices,
          The deluxe is 15.90
          Crispy chicken supreme 15.9
          Classic vegan 14.90

@BenjiBenj: I'm gonna cry having to pay these prices esp after enjoying $1 Maccas this Wed & $15 for 4 Zinger burgers & chips at KFC this week!

            • +1

@nsingh21: Hey you could always not buy the burger deal haha, I'm jealous of you, I wasn't targeted for the kfc deal

              • +1

@BenjiBenj: Haha, for sure wouldn't bother otherwise. I got this EFTPOS gift card which works only in very few select retailers, one of which is Betty's Burgers so was confused either to do this or Gelato lol

            • -2

@nsingh21: Sounds like a balanced diet.

      • $15.9

    • +2

Agreed. Visited for the first time and was shocked by the very tiny burgers. I could have 3.

      • +3

Checked their nutritional info: a Betty’s Deluxe is 3610 kJ. Three of ’em is the total daily recommended intake for most people!

    • +5

      100% agree.
Very disappointed last time I went there 2 weeks ago. The chicken patty was very small. Even smaller than the bun that I thought they forgot…

    • +1

Agree and also, what has this beauti of a country turned into? Nowadays I'm seeing fatty greasy burgers and everyone is hooked into it just because it's cheap?

      • +1

        Wendy's is coming 😶

    • +1

You seriously think $8 a burger at 2for1 is too much? This isn't 1990, the cost of living has skyrocketed and everything has gone up as a result. Surprised at how many upvotes this has, I guess everyone lives off the $1 maccas mcchicken specials.

      • +1

        This is ozbargain

        • +3

Kinda my point with the comment about maccas tbh.

      • -2

So your point is we should just accept poor value? Or maybe you can vot with your wallet, not buy from these places and either they provided reasonable value or dont continue to trade. Value can be found out there that isnt a maccas or KFC deal.

        • we should just accept poor value

Nice strawman there. I never said that.

they provided reasonable value or don't continue to trade

Value is exactly the point that is being made. You're saying $18 for a burger isn't good value but I'm saying that's pretty much the cost of things now and the price of convenience. Yes you can get a cheaper burger elsewhere, but not by much, and like I've pointed out this burger has bacon too which is usually an extra anyway. For a comparison a Marys burger is $22.5 takeaway, way more than Betty's.

Also, based on the queues and number of locations, Betty's seems to be providing value to a fair few people.

Awesome, dinner out sorted. All the Betty's Burgers I've been to have been great.

  • +1

always walked passed this store and this might be a time to try out

  • +7

I remember always keeping change in my leggy pocket so I could get a couple of $1 burgers at Betty's Burgers ,
after coming out of the water at Noosa from an unncrowded day surfing.

    Those were the days…

    • +1

Yeah now they are 16x times that price 😢

  • Wouldn't recommend the vegan one at all

    • -4

Yeap they need some genuine wagu mince in there .

    • Any reasons for that?

      BETTY’S CLASSIC VEGAN – 3880KJ 14.9
Crispy puff rice patty, tomato, lettuce, pickles, onion, spicy vegan mayo

      I guess the patty.

      • +1

It was like an afterthought to their other burgers, poorly made and low quality. Hopefully it's improved since then (12 months ago). If people are complaining about their flagship burgers then god forbid what they would think of the vegan ones.

    • +1

      People or the burger?

  • These burgers are pretty terrible. Way overhyped.

  • The double is on point. With onion rings. Tad pricey

  • +6

Taste is ok. What gets me is the absolutely TINY chips. TINY!! For the price they don't even fill up the MINUSCULE cup !

  • +7

2 for 1 should really be the standard price.
A burger, chips and drink will set you back $25 and unless you've got the appetite of a teenage girl you're likely to need to raid the kitchen/vending machine/McD etc for more food.

  • These are awesome burgers, Howard smith wharves great store

  • +1

half the size they used to be when first started at original restaurant

    • +3

Maybe you have gotten twice as big!

  • +1

Check your Menulog . I have spend $35 and get a free fish burger and free delivery offer .

    • I had that too, but I think it's expired now :(

  • -1

I only tried once the Betty's burger. I feel they similar to KFC burgers? The bun and chicken.

  • +1

Taste is decent. As others mentioned, the value is not there. If you get a good Uber or Menulog discount then maybe. I think there was a 3 burgs for $30 deal a little while back. Okay value then but still no bargain.
The burgers are absolutely on the smaller size compared to other premium burger joints. I feel they have reduced the sizes since they expanded everywhere.

  • +2

Expensive and takes a while for them to make. Only the Betty Deluxe is worth getting - great burger. Main point of difference is crispy bacon.

    • Yes I was (pleasantly) surprised the bacon was actually crispy.

  • +8

    My 2 cents,,,
    The positive:
-The taste & quality are absolutely awesome! one of my favorite burgers out there.
    - Customer service is really good.
    - Super clean! regardless of the time of the day/evening you visit.
    The negatives:
    - Overpriced, a meal will set you back around $25
    - It's not very filling, as the burgers are on the smaller side & they're not very generous with their fries serving.
Would I go back? yes, happy to do so every couple of months or so.
Is the deal worth it, ABSOLUTELY

  • Can't believe that without 2 for 1 there's even no chips for that price..

  • Can you order this deal on the Betty's app or has to be in store?

    • Don't work for me online.

      • +1

Just tried an App order and it worked

  • MEH burgers

  • +6

Just went and got this (Deluxe).

Are they worth it at $18 each ? bit pricey. At $9 each with this deal, it's an absolute steal.

Also worth pointing out that these are full burgers with tomato, pickle, lettuce, sauce and bacon.

Don't get what all the hate is about, these are bigger than qtr pounders and big macs at maccas.

    • +1

With the wfh revolution, money is largely handed out for free these days. And thus, there is some concomitant inflation, as is totally to be expected. If you want a quality burger, this is it

      • +4

TBH quality burgers have always been a bit pricey. Eat in at a cafe/restaurant and you're paying $20-$26 for a burger with chips.

If all you do is compare things to maccas special menu then everything will be expensive. Seems to be what a lot of people in this thread are doing.

  • +2

Just picked up 2 burgers for about 15 bucks. No line. No complaints.

  • I’ve never been. Is it a copy of Shake Shack?

  • -1

I for one cannot understand get how a burger joint like this small arse burger can survive in this climate.

    • Because there is more money sloshing around than ever before. Try not to focus on the bottom 50%, and gaze upwards towards the people living their best life

      • +1

        Yep. CPI has gone up.

        As of Feb 23:

Through the year household spending increased in all spending categories except alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-12.0%). The largest increases were in:

Burgers at the byron bay store were tasty. The other stores in Sydney just don't compare.

    • Really, in what way? I only go the byron store, never been to them in sydney and i'm surprised at all the negative comments on here - the byron store at least is up there with my favourite burger!

  • Is there a particular Melbourne CBD store that's best? Or they're all equally good? Exhibition St store is 300m from me…

    • +1

The closer one gets to the dead centre of the city, the nicer the people are. The nicer the people are, the better the burgers. It’s some kind of immutable law

      • +1

Surprisingly, the Exhibition St store was better! Veggies were fresher, and bacon was perfect; Elizabeth St store burnt the bacon, and the veggies were a bit mealy. Overall happy though

  • Can you buy the 3 choices in one transaction?

    • Pretty obvious in the title. "2 for 1" not "3 for 1"..

      • What I mean is getting 1 pair of each choice below. Pay for the price of 3 to get 6 burgers.
        ✨ Betty's Deluxe
        ✨ Crispy Chicken Supreme
        ✨ Betty's Classic Vegan

        • Right. Possibly. They may limit it to one transaction per customer per day to skirt around people doing this but unsure.

  • +5

Just had the Deluxe — nothing tiny about it, it's about the size of a Whopper (maybe smaller in diameter but at least as meaty). I'd say it's one of the better burgers I've had from chain restaurants (including Five Guys and Shake Shack). Maybe overpriced at $15.90 each, but definitely a good deal at 2-for-1.

    • +3

Yeah, right? I don't get what all the hate is about them being so tiny. I was expecting them to be White Castle sized burgers but they were fine, and included bacon, tomato, lettuce etc. My only comment would be that the patty was a little overdone but that's it.

  • Guys did anyone find the deluxe burger patties (Collins St) overcooked and dry with crispy edges? Is that what it's supposed to be??
