Seiko Men's Watch, $269.95, Save $430 Free Shipping, NRMA Shop

210

Saw this deal in the NRMA Open Road magazine and jumped on their website. It looked really good so decided to buy it as a birthday present. Arrived a week or so later and I'm very happy with the purchase, so I thought I would share it.

After careful consideration from all the comments I went back to buy the watch for myself and I think it has changed, as it doesn't look like the original one that I had bought. It still looks good, so I think I'll buy it anyway, plus now apparently i save more being a member = win :)

        It's new without tags btw

I'd much rather spend the extra $24 on getting a brand new one in the box from NRMA with card, knowing that I'll be fine in the event of any problem.

  • I get that but this is for members only so the eBay deal is open to everyone.
Obviously this is ozbargain and most will choose the bargain over tags.

"NEW with Inner and Outer Boxes and Guarantee Booklet but no card"

You decide if the card is worth 24 bucks.

I have purchased a seiko watch in the past. the card is labelled "Certificate of Limited Guarantee" has on the back - serial no, case no and vendor (all hand written). The booklet is merely the generic terms and conditions of the warranty. My booklet does say it is a worldwide warranty (only for first year then 2nd and 3rd year are APAC only) however I am not sure if you could actually get warranty without the card even if you have legit invoice. TL:DR - The card acts ad proof of purchase and will most likely be required for warranty.

    • And if I wanted to buy 2?

  • Anyone know if NRMA will accept membership of interstate clubs (eg. RACV) for purchases?

    • +1

It's all gone now.. but for the record. I've got an email reply for RACV and RACQ membership as follows:

Thank you for contacting the NRMA Online Shop.

As an interstate club member you are entitled to receive our member prices on our NRMA Online Shop. In order to take advantage of these offers, you simply need to place your order over the phone with one of our customer service consultants as our internet based Online Shop system will not recognise your interstate member number to get the discount.

You can call us by calling 1300 782 312.

if your watch ever ran out of battery while you are walking on the road, NRMA battery assist will come and replace it, free of charge (as long as you are a roadside assist member)

However if they told you it will take an hour, you won't know for sure as your watch won't be telling the time.

    it's about time seiko

I have purchased wrist watches many times from ebay without any problems. They come fully boxed with all warranty and documentation. If its cheaper definitively go for ebay. Gimmicks like triple A tick, local stock are not applicable here.

Bought a couple of G-Shocks/Pathfinders and a pricey Citizen once; no dramas at all, all watches are still ticking years on.

    • Without a warranty card it's as good as second-hand as far as warranty is concerned. "Local stock" doesn't seem like so much of a gimmick as a necessity when it comes down to something as simply as needing a watchband adjusted, and ……

We have no facility for checking waterproof cases, please have the watch pressure tested before use under water.

Add another $60 or so onto their price for that and where is there any saving?

  • Actually a lovely looking watch.

$148 on Amazon. Ship it via Shipito.com, and the total should be well under $180.
