[PC, Steam] Star Wars: Squadrons $7.49 (85% off) @ Steam

340

So I realise this was free on Epic Games at one point, but for those that missed out and still want to get it this seems like a decent price.

I recently got a flight stick and HOTAS and was thinkin to get this to have a bit of fun with it. I've heard multiplayer isn't happening much now…but will i get a kick out of the single player do we think?

Was also given away on Amazon Prime Gaming. Could have easily picked it up there without really realising it.

    • Thanks for this reminder. Was about to buy it on Steam but now see I've already redeemed the code I got from Prime Gaming. :)

        RELEASE DATE:

        Just a bit

        • So many different Star Wars games. I haven't really played any of them other than the orignal X-Wing, possibly X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Been so long, can't really remember.

        • If this is the same game as rogue squadron on N64, I loved that as a kid

      • Yup!

Highly recommend this in VR. Used my oculus rift and was very immersive.

    • Played this with the Oculus Quest - was awesome!

      • Oops, yes I was using an Oculus Quest and not a rift…

Took me a while to warm up to it (as a veteran of X-Wing Alliance) but dropping difficulty to easy and not rolling too much whilst in VR made this a quite enjoyable game.

  • Fun little game, lacking content, but whats there is fun

  • Actually not too hard to find an online Dogfight match when using a US VPN. I've had flawless performance with Nord VPN, and found more matches than I did in Aus. it's harder to find ranked fleet battles but still possible on occasion.

This is on Gamepass, or the EA that comes with it, just keep in mind the quick resume XSX feature will dramatically lower the framerate. It's always best to fully kill th game when you are done playing. Overwatch 2 does this too, noticeably laggy after a quick resume or two, I reckon you lose half your framerate at least.
