Galax GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 1 Click OC 8GB Graphics Card $543 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart & MSY

190

Cheapest it's been for a little while, is a GDDR6X variant too, so slightly faster (1-5%) when compared to a typical RTX 3060 Ti. Unsure about amount in-stock, being a rerelease there should be a bit of stock. Better deals do exist from AMD such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT/6750 XT, but if you need Nvidia this could be it.

  • Is this a good upgrade from a 1080?

    • +3

At 1080p resolution yea it’s ok,

But if you keep your gpu for a while then you probably want a gpu with 12-16gb ram nowadays,

    • +1

Decently so, the RTX 3060 Ti is slighly better then a RTX 2080 Super, or a card from your generation of graphics cards, it is quite a bit faster then a 1080 Ti.

The VRAM is a consideration though, many titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us, etc., all require more then 8GB at 1080p ultra settings and stutter as a result.

    • +3

Only for the next year in my opinion. It's limited by VRAM due to crazy requirements or poor programming in the latest games. My 3080 stutters at 1440p in a few of the latest releases only because of VRAM allocation going above 10GB at certain points in games, causing a short stutter, which is unplayable when it happens.

      • So should wait till 4000's series cheaper or slemthing with more ram?

        • If I had a 1080 I'd want at least 3070ti/rx6800.

I actually had a 1080 and ended up with a 6600xt and yeah it's a tier or two short of a solid upgrade. I only did it because I sold the 1080 for $700 and bought the 6600xt for $350. I'd be looking at rx6800 for <$700

      • Out of curiosity, if texture qualities were reduced does the stuttering go away?

        • Interested also

According to these benchmarks there is only a marginal difference between 1080p ultra and 4k ultra (~20%) in the modern titles which is very surprising for a 200% (4x) increase in pixels.

This lack of optimisation is really telling of the state of the industry now. I remember the first starcraft was released in 256 colour so that it would run on graphics cards with less than 1MB of RAM. The efforts of the graphic artists meant you can't even tell. Now developers don't even appear to be making art for 1080p, and the downscaling is being done in game.

    • New games either have very poor optimisation or requirements too high, like Last of Us, Resident Evil, Hogwarts, Jedi ect… buying 3060 ti now is outdated with its performance and VRAM. I will not bother waste money on 3060 ti 8gb if I already have 1080 8gb. If you want to play max setting for 1080p games in next few years (may be just 2-3 years). I will go at least 12Gb VRAM, 16gb VRAM for 1440p. 1440p max setting without RT already need 12Gb VRAM today (there is a video 4070 ti vs 4090 benchmarks, the purpose showing the fps but there is VRAM in overlays, 4070 ti reach 11.5gb without slowing down, but 4090 using 13-14gb VRAM)

what's with the cringe box art? I thought it was a Watch Dogs promo for a second

    • +1

Yeah it's so weird. Is it a game reference I'm not familiar with?

    • +3

It's just an employee wearing a reject shop $2 scarf. Can't waste too much money on Marketing if they want to be able to sell cards at a slightly less inflated price.

    • +1

that's them mocking us as you won't be able to play Watch Dogs on this: not enough VRAM

    • There's meant to be a gun in the dude's hand, but it had to be removed for some reason - now it just looks extra goofy.

  • ha ha. remember those 400$ ex mining cards here last week?

    jeeeezus thats a good price

    • +2

4060 is rumored to launch end of May. just saying

specs look shit though, especially for people with PCIe 3. 8 lanes as opposed to 3060 and ti on 16 lanes.

  • +5

Sorry but any card with only 8GB VRAM is now superseded and not fit for purpose with the latest PC games. Old games, sure, but you're wasting your money. A far better mid-range card to get for similar money is the 12GB AMD RX 6700XT from Umart for $559 (https://www.umart.com.au/product/asus-radeon-rx-6700-xt-dual…) or even better the 12GB AMD RX 6750XT from Umart for $589 (https://www.umart.com.au/product/asus-dual-rx-6750-xt-oc-12g…).
No one buys an expensive new gaming card hoping to play the latest games on low or medium graphics settings, yet that is what buying an 8GB graphics card means for you going forward.

    • tram green wants everyone to buy 3090, and every other card is just for csgo

imagine people who got 3080 8gb. what a recycled piece of trash. what's to say about 3070 lol

      • 3080 8gb?

        • +1

oh wow. 10gb. I need more coffee lol

          • @shabaka: Yeah can't imagine spending $1200+ for 10GB. Many the past 2yrs extended their budget over the 3070 for futureproofing reasons. So they're committed to 10GB for like the next 4 years. The 4k/rtx enthusiasts have probably already upgraded to 4090 lol

  • lol galax. So we're not even going to see a $543 strix?

  • +3

(profanity) mental that this card is over two years old and has only dropped $150 below is MSRP. An absolute joke.

  • why is the price at $599?

    • Make sure you have your store set to "post". It should say "Dreamhack special".

      • ah gotcha - thanks!

  • Ever since i resigned to ignore 40 series, which looks like its gonna be 8gb all the way down, and get the next 12gb 3060 there hasnt been a deal on them.
    I hate this.

    • +1

got 12gb on my 6700xt for around this price last year

    • I gave in and got used RX 6800 for $500 off eBay. that 16gb VRAM be extra juicy

  • Not enough VRAM! Better off with the 6700XT for future proofing.
