Is This a Deal? 7 Inch 2GB RAM Tablet from AliExpress for ~$46

Sorry if this is the wrong section, not sure if a tablet is considered a mobile or not.

AU $45.63 68%OFF | PRITOM 7 Inch Tablet PC 32 GB Android 11 with Quad Core Processor HD IPS Display Dual Camera WiFi with PU Protective Case

I just ordered one.
I am hoping I can use it for Android Auto in my car, although maybe the specs are just way too low.

Looks like a discount code auto applies which makes it $4.46 cheaper.

just receiving a working device for that price seems like quite the deal

Those specs were good 10 years ago. 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and 1024x600 resolution is nasty so I'd stay clear. It'll be dead slow and unusable. It reminds me of the old 7" Allwinner A13 Android 4.0 tablets from 2013 like this. I still have mine all these years later.

The Teclast P25T at US $73.25 is a better buy, but still not the best in terms of speed. Since you're after something for Android Auto this would be too big.

Unfortunately you don't get good specs under 10" unless you want to shell out big for a Lenovo Legion Y700. The only real decent budget offering is something like the Headwolf Fpad 2 8" Again, the CPU is the weak point here.

    • Ramos, Ainol, Asus Transformer, Nvidia Tegra…good memories.

      • I remember weighing up between the Ainol.Crystal 2 and the original Nexus 7. I'm so glad I went Nexus.

Brands were pretty innovative back then. SmartQ stuck a projector in theirs.

Unless the brand is somehow decent (the ones clear mentioned), then all other chinese brands are no no.. they can list amazing specs, maybe true but it will be bad… there are more than just components… like how they put them together, o/s, battery, touch responses, display quality etc.

This will run as fast as my granny

  • 2GB is not enough, stay away, need at least 3GB

It's these sort of slow, cheap and nasties, than give Android a bad name.
    Avoid.

  • I am hoping I can use it for Android Auto in my car,

I doubt it. I tried using such a tablet in my car, but Google Maps and alternatives are quite bloated, and would not run acceptably in 2GB after google updates.

It may be good for some other purposes, but not for maps or as a general-purpose tablet.

  • It'll make a fantastic paperweight
