Citi Premier **Apple Pay** $600 Cashback $2k Spend on

I just applied for a citi premier card with $150 first year fee, $600 cashback when spending $2k in 90 days. $600 looked enticing enough for me to bother applying. Didn't notice the $2k has to be spent on apple pay.

Few problems with this, I don't own any apple products, but I'm sure I could borrow one.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

More importantly, how do I easily spend $2k using apple pay?

Humm (or equivalent)
I saw a thread someone was talking about humm and I had a quick look and you can use humm to bpay rates, utilities etc.

This would solve the problem if a) you can and b) it is an 'eligible transaction.

Utilities and rates aren't normally eligible transactions, but if it's through humm would it be?

Gift cards
I could just buy gift cards if this is possible + eligible?

    Supermarket gift cards

That's what I was thinking. It's a pity that I just missed the 10% off prepaid cards… zzz. Do you know if I can do it via shopback, cashrewards or any of those online ones? They have discounts whereas supermarket tends not to (on useful ones).

I would rather set fire to my money than buy a macbook pro?

      • I find Apple to be the worst Supplier I have ever dealt with (worse than Samsung and Sony), however the Macbook M1s (and newer), are a very well designed unit (Just like the Galaxy Folds, Flips and S 22s and S23s)., and I it mainly for music, however since using it, I have adapted to MacOS, but prefer Windows as an OS, and quite often have to do tasks on my Windows PC (which also runs MacOS Catalina). ;)

        • So can you use apple pay via your windows pc? That would be ideal for me if so.

          • @Bdawg: I don't use Apple Pay, so I wouldn't know. I just looked and it's Apple only and requires Touch ID, so it most likely won't run on a hackintosh.

            • @BewareOfThe Dog: Hackintosh :D :D :D
Couldn't resist commenting on your creativity.

  • Easiest option would be decide what you want to buy using apple pay (you can use apple pay anywhere there is paywave so coles/woolworths/myer/davidjones etc).
Buy an iphone from apple, use apple pay and return the iphone within 14 days for refund.

    • Not a bad idea. Presumably you would have to refund it to a different card though as otherwise the points would be reversed? I know flybuys reverses your points on refunds.

you aren't buying the iphone with Apple Pay… cos you don't have the iphone yet!

        • Yes that problem requires a different solution.

  • Google pay and Samsung pay are also eligible
