    Great microwave imo

    • agree if you mean great looking microwave but respectfully disagree on great quality unit. On the other hand panasonic m/w looks dated design but robust in operation

      • which model panasonic? do you have a link?

      • -1

Agree looks great but it's pretty poor. Especially when heating things up back to back, it's hopeless. And interferes really bad with wifi. Would never buy it again.

    • Great microwave but not long lasting just replaced mine after 3.5 years…

I did go and get the same one so maybe I'm the sucker but I like it.

    • All Korean appliances love to sing :D

      • +1

Legit my parents samsung washing machine does this.

        • You can turn off the 'cycle finished' melody/chime on Samsung washing machines though.

I'm not sure whether you can do that on this LG Microwave.

      • My Korean car even did this by default (turn on chime) but could turn it off thank god.

    • +6

It 'beeps' and 'chimes' for everything, and there is no (obvious) way to silence it, or even turn the volume down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Microwave (if it would just shut up!)

On our model, you hold down 2 buttons (Cancel and maybe the + or Inverter cook) and it goes silent.

Man people don't read the manual or know anything anymore about complaining…

So it turns your food upside down?

It turns your food inside out.

Wouldn't recommend this microwave after using it for about 4-5 years. It started having occassional arcing/spark issues even in the early stage of my ownership and it recently burnt out on the inside, which seems to be a common complaint with this model. Went with a Panasonic this time. Not having that annoying melody playing constantly is a god send too!

    • +1

Yeah out 10 year old Panasonic still going strong. Same with our Pana Plasma TV.

    • +1

Mine is now 7 years old and just yesterday the little swivel thing in the center started making this really squeaky groaning sound. Might have to take it apart to grease something. It's the first issue we have encountered with it though.

    • I just tried a panasonic, and had the door hinge issue on a brand new unit so it just would not start. The door had to be pushed up/down for it to latch before it started. Seemed like a common issue with Panasonic's when looking online. Went back to sharp brand which i previously had for nearly 10yrs before the circuit board fried.

  • Does this model have the ability to turn the annoying chime off? If I recall correctly some models have the option to mute the chime through pressing a sequence of buttons

  • +13

    Just turn the melody off
-To turn all sound off open the door, hold down <CLEAR> and <KEEP WARM> for 2 seconds. The display will show "OFF".

    • +4

Good to know, although I don't mind the melody.

      • +4

it's quieter than my previous microwave but it plays the melody every 30 secs until you open the door so it's 'Off' for me

  • +3

very nice microwave, worth every cent at this price.

    i don't mind the melody, it's a nice melody.

Some NeoChef Microwave models affect 2.4GHz wifi as well as Bluetooth (also uses 2.4GHz). Might experience Wifi and bluetooth dropping.
Got a friend with one and noticed my watch would lose bluetooth connection while microwaving.

    • +3

Can confirm, have same model - my Bluetooth headset when near the microwave will crackle/stutter when on (1.2m radius).

That said - doesn't affect lifestyle, unless you have the microwave on constantly.

Biggest usage for myself is to tell time in the kitchen…

    • Yep, Alexa does not like it. Refuses to play spotify while microwaving without skipping every other second.

  • +2

    Sweet melody on this one

  • +5

Buyer beware - these microwaves are amazing but horrendously unreliable. I have bought 5 or so of the 42L among my family, 4 died within 3 yrs. 3 successfully repaired under ACL, 4th experienced resistance from GG.

    • +1

Can confirm. We currently have one at LG service centre for repairs as the magnetron shit the bed after 5 months of purchase.

Its a great microwave, but this is the first time we've had one fail so quickly.

      • Worst thing about it is - if you don't use it enough in the first 24mths they'll try and escape all free repairs the moment it is over 2yrs

  • The only issue I have with this model is you need the manual to use the presets as they don't display on the screen. I've had mine for about 5 years with no issues.

    • Why are there no left-opening microwave ovens?
    • Why do microwaves have to show the time? Just turn off the damned display if I haven't set the time
    • Mine can off the display by itself. I didn't setup anything

  • +4

I'll wait until there's a Rice Cooker with a Kelly Clarkson tune available.

  • It’s showing $219 now?

  • Yeah . What happened

  • Too late

  • +3

    23L is tiny right?

    • Too small for popcorn can’t rotate

      • +1

As an owner of exactly this microwave for 5 years now, you can do popcorn just fine but gotta prepare it properly

When it's puffed up and popping it fits with room to spare, and is just the transition period as it unfolds and flattens out where it gets caught, so fold in all the corners first and you'll be fine. After that first incident 5 years back, we've never had popcorn get stuck again

  • Had the bigger version for a few years, it unfortunately died a couple of months back and after consideration, we decided to go with another brand.

It worked well, we didn't mind the beeps and chimes, but it messed with our wifi whenever it was in use.

  • After looking at microwaves for far too long, I gave up and ended up grabbing the $99 Contempo from BigW and it's honestly been pretty good value for money. It looks good, feels good, heats evenly, and whilst the controls are a bit basic, it does pretty much everything you'd expect from a cheap microwave. Only downside is that the clock runs a bit fast.

I wouldn't waste money on a more expensive model again.

  • +1

I had the exact model, which stopped heating after 4 years. Remembering microwave ovens being working close to 10 years. Just bought a Panasonic one, hope it will last longer.

  • Have this model bought in 2018 for about same price, hasn't skipped a beat. Would buy again.

  • +1

Have a 42L variant of this. Required repair after 6 months and is rusting on the inside back right corner after 18 months. Would not buy again

  • Back in stock for $130, just ordered

  • +1

This is a very poor microwave. Looks nice but went through 2 of them in a very short period. Seem to overheat and then no longer heat.

Had more than the required ventilation.
