    Not "free" if DRM encumbered.

    THIS is free: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/36

  • A great book.

    Enjoy whoever downloads this.

    Fun fact:

When a radio-play version of this book went to air in 1938, there was mass panic among listeners because many of them mistook it for a news broadcast (such were the times). A couple of nutters even offed themselves, legend has it …

    • Fact is, that's a complete myth.

Meh … 'myth', 'legend' … who's to say … were you there? Apparently life was so crap for some back then that they were itching to off themselves at the slightest provocation. There was also no 'life-line' to call back then, and anti-depressants were pretty thin on the ground too. Just sayin'.

How is this a deal? Copyright of the work has lapsed. It will be free forever.

  • Fun fact: the area southwest of London where the fictional Martian cylinders land is Horsell Common, so a lot of the early action would take place within 500 metres of the McLaren Technical Centre where they design, test and build their F1 cars.

    • You and I have very different definitions of fun facts …

  • Is this the remake with tom cruise?
