I know it can be found cheaper, but its a bucket of peanut butter! Perfect stocking stuffer for when we get to Christmas!

Similar price to this "Deal" - But with the recent price hikes of Peanut butter it's a decent deal.

Personally not a fan but it's cheaper than the $20 bucket Coles is selling + free bucket afterward xD

Smooth? Does your mum chew your food for you too?

    • Is this meant to be a joke?

Is this a ghost JV account?

      • thought similar.

  • I know it can be found cheaper

So this is a deal, how…?

    • +1

If you look at the other deal its a copy paste of that, it's taking the mickey - but also a good deal if you like smooth lol

  • $20 at Coles so is a deal.
Not sure where it an be found cheaper.

    • +4

Weirdly, at Coles itself. Current full pricing of $7.50 for 780g comes to $19.20 per 2kg.

Amazing how their 2kg is actually worse value.

      • I think it’s coles that is worse value.

        • +1

Exactly the same! Amazon have price matched both the 780g and 2kg price per 100g.

          • +3

@Waikikamukau: Bega peanut butter 755g is $5.99 or 79c/100g at Aldi every day. No need to hunting fake “specials” at duopoly.

            • @ALBastru: Thanks for this. Looks like we get it from there from now on.

              Strange there’s a 780g and a 755g jar made.

            • @ALBastru: No Aldi here :(

        • +2

.. I'm comparing Coles with Coles. Coles 2kg is worse value than full price jars, let alone jars on special.

Don't buy it to know how often it does go on special but it's probably worth getting a smaller jar and waiting for a special rather than the tub unless you have Amazon credit you wish to use :)

          • +3

@pennypincher98: As I said, trying to find good values at the duopoly is not a good idea. You have to search through fake “specials” everyday.

In other countries you wouldn’t have today something more expensive than yesterday that’s marked as “special” or as a deal and you would expect to have a better deal when buying in bulk.

            P.S.

            For instance, in Europe:

"To comply with Article 6a, the trader announcing the price reduction must identify the lowest price that it charged for the respective good or goods during at least the last 30 days before the application of the price reduction. Such lowest price shall include any previous ‘reduced’ price during that period. Failure to take into account the prices applied during any previous promotional periods in the 30 days before the price reduction announcement will be contrary to Article 6a of the PID."

            Source: page 6 of https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:52021XC1229(06)&from=EN

So there a supermarket can't sell something today for "half price" at $6 and tomorrow for $8 down from $12 while next day for $7 ( was $9 when the Queen met Michael Jackson).

@pennypincher98: @pennypincher98: Damn, this King's coronation special has got me comparing the price of peanut butter now.

  • +2

    Vegetable oil + sugar 👎🏼

    • +3

Exactly why I go for Mayvers - which is also much cheaper than this when on special at $2.90/375g

    • +1

Yep, this terrible for you. Buy the good Bega or Mayvers

  • +3

Are we just glossing over the fact that OP is Xmas shopping for perishables in may?

    • Not highly perishable

      Just… may not be palatable

  • +1

    This used to be peanuts

  • I have begun to trust Amazon less and less as some 'deal' items I bought are with best before dates within 2-3 months (Peanut butter, Oats, Milo Cereal etc.). So if I were you, I wouldn't order a '2kg' tub of Peanut Butter off a 'deal' for Christmas

    • +2

best before dates are more of a suggestion anyways

      • But I wouldn’t really eat best before July food in December. Would you?

        • +1

Depends what. Diet soft drink? Nah, probably flat. Noodles? Sure not much is gonna happen to a sealed, dehydrated noodle cake in that time.

          • @pennypincher98: Peanut butter

            • @Luke5566: Said in this thread multiple times I'm not a fan of it regardless.

Your other items - oats and Milo cereal should be okay. Having said that it should be discounted warehouse pricing, not "barely cheaper than Coles" and more per kg than ALDI

        • This isn't really "food" in that sense, though.

    • +1

You can find a better deal every day at Aldi. And you don't have to buy in bulk to get a good price/kg.

  • +2

Is it even food if it doesn't come in a bucket

  • Dog'll be happy.

  • Alton Brown's Easy Peanut Butter Fudge - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbkC_7wQKgA

  • The original post was a copy paste of the last deal for this, kind of taking the mickey and also an alright deal if you really like smooth peanut butter. - I don't and I was also surprised when I checked the price/100g vs the bigger jars. But this is cheaper if you don't live near an Aldi.
