KRK RP8G2 Studio Monitors + Quiklok BS300 Stands + Hosa XLR Cables - $649USD Delivered!

90

First post, and one for the audiophiles and EDM lovers :)

This package includes two KRK Rokit 8 (RP8G2) Monitors, two Quiklok BS-300 monitor stands and two HOSA XLR cables. Free gift of Aerial 7 Neo Eclipse In Ear Buds also included. I picked this bundle up on their ebay but its also available here on their main site for the same price of $499USD (+$150USD shipping to Australia). Shipping is with DHL, with tracking number, and is Express Worldwide and its pretty damn cheap to be able to offer that shipping at that price when the total weight is of more than 25kg. Most other places I contacted overseas wanted almost double to ship it at a lesser service. I paid by Paypal and it ended up being about $633AUD after Paypal took their 2.5% conversion fee but if you were to pay through some other options you could probably avoid the conversion fee and save another $12 or so more.

Cheapest I could buy a pair of the KRK RP8G2 monitors in Australia - $745 delivered
Quiklok BS-300 stands through StoreDJ - $149 delivered
2 Hosa XLR cables in Aus - $30

  • If its the same price on ebay why wouldnt you get it from them there where you have paypal and feedback protection

    • +2

Well, im a newbie and wasn't sure on the policy on ebay listings so I thought id focus on their main site and with this bundle you also get the Aerial 7 Neo Eclipse In Ear Buds for free too, where that wasn't advertised on ebay. I also hear theres a couple cards that dont charge you currency conversion fees so with people looking to take advantage of the high AUD/USD recently, I thought I should inform the community of both ways you can pick the bundle up with Sonicfiber.

Im always pretty happy to use paypal and pay their pretty small conversion fee for the protection they offer, and if you're wondering about their ebay feedback; 5137 and 99.2% positive.

      • Fair enough. Didnt know the freebie came store only.

It doesnt sound like a bad deal. :)

I clicked on the plus icon for you happysound as your correct about the cards.

A few members here I've seen mention it and I signed up with them recently and then took a trip to Singapore a few weeks ago and road tested the'28 Degrees' credit card(a GE Credit finance product BTW) and what a ripper it is: No transaction fees, no conversion fees, to ATM fees irregardless of where you are or what ATM your using.

Brilliant money saver for those not only on a tight budget but also for those who have a reasonable budget and are looking to save a few hundred dollars in conversion fees etc whilst OS for a short time.

I'll look into this deal you've highlighted

  • What's the standard warranty?

  • +1

Can you tell us something about the speakers themselves:- ie. what they are good for; how they rate in terms of value compared with other brands etc?

    • best value for the price IMO. KRK is best for Dance music and anything with beats. For general music, you might consider Yamaha HSM monitors.

  • +1

Great speakers for a good price. I've got the KRK Rokit 6's. They're great for producing EDM. I also have the Quiklok stands which are also good, although probably not worth the price - build quality is ok.

I wouldn't say this is aimed at audiophiles - they're production monitors, so they're meant to sound as flat and neutral as possible. Basic theory is that if a track you produce sounds good on flat sounding monitors, then playing them on any other speakers which may accentuate say, highs or bass, will naturally sound good too.

If you're buying these simply to listen to music on, yeah they sound good, but you might be better off spending that money on a really nice set of actual speakers.

Thanks for sharing.. please post more this kind of stuff. :)

IMO, these are pretty ultimate for listening or producing on. No standard home sound system at this price is gonna be anywhere near this quality. Standard manufacturer warranty is 3 years.

I wouldnt say they're just a flat reference monitor, and they are definitely adaptable to suit certain soundscapes, or emphasise different elements. They're bloody good for EDM production, ill give ya that. Your studio/room setup/size/shape and dampening will have a big part to play in sound signature too. On the back on the Rokits you'll find a HF level adjust (like a treble pot) and an adjustable gain range from +6dB to -30dB. Also, you'll find RCA, TRS and XLR inputs, as well as a switch that allows you to go from 110-120v~ and 220-240v~.

If you use these with a mixer, receiver, audio interface or sound card you should be able to tweak these to your perfect preference in sound.

    • Worth upgrading from the 1st gen Rokit 8s? Also, can't seem to find the free earphones anymore. Hopefully they didn't take that away!

      • If youve got the coin to spare, sure, upgrade :P
G1 had passive and active monitors, G2 are active only…
"RP8G2 adds a newly refined voicing as well as a curved baffle to eliminate diffraction and provide a clearer sound, free from coloration. These second generation Rokits feature a 1 inch neodymium soft dome tweeter, designed to offer accurate and less fatiguing monitoring thanyou'd experience with traditional metal domed tweeters. The RP8G2's have an active crossover and are bi-amplified to produce provides discrete, low-distortion, efficient power for these two drivers perfect for music that depends heavily on bass. The Rokit RP8G2 monitors reduces the diffraction traditionally shaped speakers suffer from, by curving the cabinet, KRK avoids "phase distortion" for a better sound across a wider area. Unlike conventional speaker designs, the G2s provide a high frequency pattern control that directs sound outwards and away from the cabinets instead of along its pane."

Not sure where the free ear buds picture went but email them and they'll probably chuck em in.

        • Received a couple of replies from them:
1: we're going to be giving a different pair of earphones (the done xd20's) as we just ran out of neo eclipse

2: warranty is a USA warranty, they are brand new factory fresh. the return rate is under .5% on rocket series. Cheapest Shipping is about 225 bucks. and its actually lightning fast DHL service 3 days to Australia.

If you buy without the stands/cables, it will save you $50 off the purchase price and $40 off the shipping (90 bucks to eliminate stands/cables) let us know.

They're going to charge $225 instead of the $150 that they charged you, so that's $75 more!

        • That's odd. Hit them up about ebay and say they've quoted and done $150 DHL Express worldwide for your friend etc…

    • +1

Sorry, but you just bought one by the looks of it….See how it says Each? Not a pair lol thats gotta hurt…
If you go to order 2 of these with grouped shipping to Aus it says "Order Total: AUD 656.74"

Pretty damn happy with my AUD 634 purchase for the pair of RP8G2's, Quiklok BS300 stands and Hosa XLR cables etc

    • thats only 1 speaker

  • Has anyone got these US KRK Rokit working here? I was reading the manual and it says you will need to change the fuse in order to switch the voltage to 220V-240V?
    Page 8 http://www.krksys.com/manuals/rokit/rpg2_manual.pdf

    • There is a small box under the power plug that you pull out to replace the fuses. The ones in there are different to the Aus standard and you need to get a couple 1 amp, 250v Slow Blow fuses (5mmx20mm) and these are available from most electronics shops. You need 1 fuse in each speaker and I picked mine up at Jaycar for 35c each.

      In summary,
-Replace power cord (standard computer/kettle cord) or use travel converter.
-Replace fuses with 1amp 250v Slow Blow fuses (5mmx20mm) from any electronics store.
-Flick the switch on the back to 240v.

      Tadah!
