Lenovo M14t Portable Monitor Connection to PC Workaround

Hi Ozbargain community, I would really appreciate your advice on this issue I am having connecting M14t to my PC.

Due to M14t only having a usb-c connection for display, it doesn't work as a secondary monitor connected to my PC, whether it's connected to the GPU by an adaptor or to the motherboard via usb-c.

The only workaround I found online is to use a pcie to usb-c display adaptor but I have an itx motherboard and only 1 PCIe slot which is taken by the GPU.

My other possible solution is to purchase a monitor that has usb-c PD connection and connect the M14t via that. But I am not sure if this will work.

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi OP, have you tried using something like this and connecting the monitor to your GPU via HDMI? https://www.amazon.com.au/HEYMIX-Multiport-Charging-Compatib…

    • Thanks for your reply! yeah, these adaptors do not work, unfortunately. I think because it's designed to be connected directly to a laptop to monitor not GPU to monitor.

      • Ah bummer!

  • I don't have this one but I have a similar (perhaps older) Asus one

I've found it works both via USB-C or any USB-A port as long as its at least 3.0 (generally blue colour).

Something like this should be sufficient:

Buy a length that works for you (but not too long)

I get away without a Y cable but not sure with yours since its native USB-C maybe requires extra power than mine

  • There are usb-c -> displayport cables that are bi-directional. Assuming your monitor has two ports, one can then be used for power.
