Singapore Transit Visa Information for 48 Hours

Hi Everyone

Hope to get the answer here from frequent/experienced travelers.

I am planning a trip to India in Oct-Nov this year. Booking a Qantas flight from Adelaide. We are a family of 4 planning to visit Singapore for 24-48 hours and can see Qantas has the multi-city option.

Just not sure whether we are allowed to leave Singapore when you only have up to 48 hours of stopover/transit. Also, If you are an Australian citizen, do you need a Singapore Visa?

I called Qantas but didn't get much information. Currently hold with Singapore Call center.

Thanks

Singapore is an island. Unless you plan on renting a car and driving the causeway to Malaysia how exactly do you plan on leaving Singapore during your layover?

It’s actually quite easy to take a bus into JB

No visa needed for Aussies going to Singapore. No issues either for 48hour stop overs. U can technically cover the whole place in half a day or less.

    • Thank you. Arriving Singapore at 6 am in the morning and have a flight back to Australia the same night at 11 pm. So 17 hours of stopover. Where we can go out in those 17 hours? A Singapore free tour is only 2.5 hours ig we book, but then have another 12 hours or so to wait before the next flight

      • Really depends on ur interest. U can spend the day at Sentosa or the Zoo, go to the Flower Dome and visit Marina Bay Sans or hang out at the Jewel at the Airport where there’s things to do and lots to eat.

      • Really depends on what you want to do. Stop by a food centre + sentosa or gardens by the bay. Airport is reliable and fast. Get back 2 hours before your flight

If you want to leave the airport, you will need an SG Arrival Card, completed online and prior to arrival.

    • Thank you. Do you know also if we need to collect our baggage in Singapore and then check in again? Thanks

if we need to collect our baggage in Singapore and then check in again?

That would depend on your specific tickets/airline.

As a general rule, budget airlines often require self-transfer of luggage and proper airlines often check your luggage through to your final destination.

    • Anyone know if there is same kind of visa for taipei? (To get out from airport for fer hours or day)

      • Australian citizens do not require visa to visit taiwan for up to 90 days.

  • 48 hours is not enough to eat the incredible foods there without purging afterwards.
