Fluid Cit-E E-Bike Black Large or Medium $999 (Club Price) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Anaconda

20

Not sure if this is an overstated deal in the RRP.
I was thinking of getting an Ebike for when my car goes to the mechanics and for things like that.

Why is your car at the mechanics so often that you need to spend a thousand dollars on a bike?

Surely it's like 2 to 4 uber rides per year?

This is OzBargain. Let us justify our purchases :(

If you start riding to work instead of driving its a net win.

Can't vouch for this bike though, seems very cheap.

  • Does this thing have suspension?

    7 speed Shimano gearing
    Alloy V brakes

    • pretty low end components so guessing rrp was considerably inflated
    • woooow I didn't even notice it's V brakes 😅 No suspension either, and a hub mount motor.

Hard to find the manufacturer's website. If it's got crappy brakes that fail at 40K/Hr what sort of batteries are in there, doubt they're going to be Samsungs.

  • Is 250w enough for big boys?

    This looks like a replacement of this bike;

All the newer ebikes seem to have the battery built into the frame.

I do have the older bike.

The motor is a Bafang, I believe it is a good brand for a ebike motor.
Bike parts wise it is a bit low end, best part of the bike would the motor and the battery, maybe the controller and display, the ebike bits. The bike bits not so good.

The bike is pedal assist, so you do need to just pedal the bike a little.
Going up hills is where it makes it feel like nothing at all, it may struggle up a long steep hill though.
Without the motor in use, the bike feels really heavy, going up hill just pedalling is bad.

The speed is limited to 25km/h from factory but in the advanced menus, you can set the max to about 40km/h.
You can get to 30-40km, while pedalling on a flat quite easily, getting to 25km/h is easy too. Not much effort, but you do need to pedal a little bit.

It would be more fun if there was a bit more power though, the govt has set the 250W and max 25km/h rule.

If you did not help pedal, I do not think the battery will last long especially it being 10Ah only.

  • Probably good value, but its hub drive. I just bought a mid drive (admittedly more expensive), but its a better concept and more natural.
