I went to OrangeIT today and saw this great deal. Haven't seen this price from a local reputable store since Thailand flood disruption.
$99 for Toshiba 2.5" USB power portable 1TB HDD (support USB 3.0)
Free Shipping too!

No kidding? Whoa, I didn't realize that storage media was quite a bit more expensive locally!
Anyway, I have this same drive bought around 8 or 9 weeks ago. Have nothing to complain about. Purchased it for $119 from OW of all places. :)

no kidding. $70 is the normal retail price in Hong Kong and Taiwan. I just need to stress that considering we have higher income here so $99 isn't a bad deal though $70 or even $89 would be better. :)

perfect… thanks…
might get a set for the wife too…

Have read reviews on amazon. It seems to be incompatible with 2011 onwards macbook airs and pros. Also, it has a proprietary connector, which some people may find inconvenient/annoying. It also has a high failure rate & unreliability.
As good a price this is, I'd stay away. After all, a hard drive is for SAFE BACKUPS, completely redundant if the drive cannot do the one thing it's designed to do properly.

I don't think it's a proprietary connector; it just uses a new standard for USB 3.0. I bought mine from MLN two Boxing Day sales ago and it's still fine. The cable is a bit short but can be replaced, eg: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/usb-3-0-superspeed-a-male-to-mi…

I have purchased one of these drives, and a friend has purchased 2 of them.
They use a standard USB 3.0 cable … not sure where you are getting your information from.
Haven't experienced any unreliability, and get fast transfer rates (75-80 Megabytes/sec).
Only thing I can fault is that the USB cable is short. Let me measure .. about 45cm … but replacement can be easily purchased.

anyone opened up the external enclosure? is the drive standard 2.5" 9mm?

I have, open and install it in my brother's laptop, it's a standard 2.5" but not sure about the 9mm.

thanks mate, that's all I want to know!
if it install into laptop then it's a standard 2.5" 9mm drive! :-)

Price match at OW for $94.05?

Beat me to it

Purchased this back towards the end of April from a different deal for the same price. Pricematched for the same price at officeworks. These are great drives for the price.

Good drive, picked one up 2 years ago from Harvey Norman for the same price!

It is now $109 on the website
i guess it's not bad for a local deal but you can easily find this selling for $70 overseas.
