Ralph Lauren Sweatshirts - $700 !

Hi All,

I walked into Ralph Lauren Factory Outlet at Essendon DFO (Melbourne) as I wanted to purchase a sweatshirt for my cousin's birthday with a budget for $100 to $150 and came across some sweatshirt with teddy prints ranging from $299 all the way up $700.

I know it's considered as a premium brand but who in the right mind would purchase these jumpers which looks like are made for toddler and pay such prices with inflation all around!

I must be living under the rock as I am genuinely shocked to see such prices - Let me know what you all think.

Polo Bear Roll Neck Jumper $699

Polo Bear Jumper $599

Polo Bear Fleece Hoodie $299.00

You were looking at paying $150 for I assume Ralph Lauren's cheapest priced jumper.
    It's no different.

You aren't after if due to its quality. You could likely get a better quality product at uniclo or elsewhere.

The reason would be the brand/logo on the jumper, and as such, it's no different than the $600 one with a teddy bear on it.
It's purely a 'look at me, I have money' status advertisement, just in a larger format.

It's just degrees of what you think is an acceptable premium or price point to make others think you're more affluent than you are.

You probably don’t want to look up the prices of Ralph Lauren Purple Label line of clothing

If you cant crane your sports car into your penthouse then these are not for you

  • if you have the money, and wnt to buy it why not….

i mean a guy spent 100s of 1000s to get his 3million dollar car into his 39m dollar apartment in Melbourne the other day

so who am i to judge just because im not rich.

    personally 700 bucks for a sweatshirt is a rip off - i doubt i'd pay 170 for a sweatshirt - maybe 70 bucks and i'd consider it

Far out that is extremely ugly at any price. A wearable nft.

    • add the word NFT it could be worth 12k or 12cents lol

  • Not many other things say vvanker more than a 700 shirt.

  • It's so they can advertise 90% off sale, and still make a profit.

  • Given it’s mass produced it’s unjustified, and I would not pay for it. But imagine someone actually had to make that, and actually got paid properly and didn’t use slave labour. You would probably be paying around that. So not as outrageous as it seems at first glance. We live is a fast fashion society which has become addicted to cheap clothing created using unethical processes to feed the whims of the masses.

  • Nah not the teddy bear range at that price. Their normal range is much nicer and better priced especially when on sale.

Manage to pick up some plain Polo Ralph Lauren pullovers for myself and cashmere sweaters for the hubby for under $150 earlier this month after 30% off on The Iconic. Hubby also picked up a full price sweater for around $250 at the store.

I know some people will not spend this much money however we have found with this specific brand that if you look after it, they last very very long and get your ROI on them.

  • I'm sending texts & emails & WhatsApp messages to all the cousins who neglected to buy me gifts for my birthdays aside from my 18th & 21st …. I'm owed big time!

  • Good thing they were at DFO prices.

  • Looks like they are trying to copy the Gucci bear.
Most DFO prices aren’t really discounted much, if at all.

    • My thoughts exactly, just a gucci knockoff.
