Really?! Removing the membership price would be a greater bargain!

    • Perhaps keep a lookout for Non-membership Free entry day

    • Removing you would be even better, who knows

      • Removing unnecessary comments are definitely an better option!

Lol, what have we got into ?

Can I post a deal after the interest rates go up next time ?

Secure a loan with BIG BANK and save 25 basis points !

    • -2

Sure if you can guarantee a savings with guaranteed approval

  • Remember, they’ll only refund you the current years fees if you want to bail.

    • +2

Unless you're moving away from one, why would you bail?

Just tried and get this error message

    "membershiprenew.flash.quoteunavailable.message"

    • same error.

Someone should really post a deal on free Costco memberships…. Exactly the same way you scum a cigarette off someone you know or don't know.

  • I wish Amazon would do this

Just checked the app, I think you can only renew ahead if your current membership is expiring in 3 months' time.

  • Is this for new or recurring members, or both? I assume recurring.

    • +3

Both I believe. New and renewal cost is the same, and it’s raising 1st June. Anyone that joins or renew before will pay $5 less (for a personal membership).

Note that one should consider how frequently they shop at Costco versus when their memberships due to expire. There’s absolutely no penalty for letting membership lapse, you just renew it next time you’re at the register. If your membership lapses in June but you don’t make another visit until August, you’re probably better off not renewing and waiting until you next visit, otherwise you’ve paid for 1-2 months you didn’t use. It’s one membership where not auto renewing makes a lot of sense, unless possibly if you use them for petrol (not sure if you can or can not renew at the pump).

      • There’s absolutely no penalty for letting membership lapse

When we bought four tv's years ago, we were told that as long as we didn't let our membership lapse, they would have lifetime warranty. I questioned the person about this and they confirmed that even after 10 years, if there's a fault, take it back and they will replace it.

I have heard since then that that's no longer the case (maybe) but they still honour it if it was purchased before they stopped doing it (if they have).

        • Maybe a similar story but I heard reports that they also had essentially a no questions asked returns policy in the US. That became an issue as every time Super Bowl came around people would return the TV they purchased the year prior and then upgrade to a larger newer model for the game. Believe that’s stopped now as a result.

Was ages ago that I read that, but at the time some people referred to the returns policy as an “upgrade policy”, which it was never intended to be.

          • @Smigit: They still have a no questions asked returns policy in Australia.

I heard in America people were eating most of a cake and returning the leftovers, or returning cut flowers that had died. I believe this sort of behaviour led to a clampdown, but it didn't affect Australia.

  • When Costco started, I believed they won't last long (with membership fee)… Well they proved me wrong…they are still going strong…I personally, will never pay subscription if it does not include free ( or atleast discounted) delivery….

    • Costco’s online orders include free delivery.

      • +1

I've noticed products ordered online have higher prices.

      • +1

Usually about $10 more than in store to factor that in

  • Price increases are not bargains.

    • First time saw jv negging someone 🤭😮

  • Thanks OP. Just renewed before the price increase :D

  • how do you prepay membership? my membership expires in Nov. I can't find anywhere I can renew it or prepay it.

    • If you are using the app to renew, its under "My Costco" -> "Renew Membership".

However, the message there seems to suggest that you can only renew membership if your membership expires within 3 months from today.

This is what it says after i renewed my membership:

Your membership expires on 31/07/2024. You will be able to renew starting 01/05/2024.

  • You should be able to renew at the Store for another 1 year even though your renewal is not due until several months away. I was able to renew my membership at the current Membership Rate by just asking the staff to renew for another year

    • Can confirm, I did the same thing a few weeks ago in warehouse.

I must have been one of the first people to do this as the register staff weren't sure if it was possible but said let's give it a go and see what happens and then followed up with "This is a good idea" when it worked.

  • I am actually looking forward to getting an executive membership - might cost $150 ish per year. just can't wait…

  • Thanks op for the remainder, done.

  • I have one of those renewal cards..do i still need to pay the inflated price (price difference of $5) or it will work at the current price at time of renewal?does anyone know?
