I'm finding it amusing how many people are lecturing and judging you for keeping the rice warm for 2 days like asian families havent been doing this forever without issue lol. My asian friends and their parents pretty much have a rice cooker of warm rice available 24/7.

Any good rice cookers keep warm function keeps the rice above the danger zone temperature.

good cooker works as it should

How is this one compared toBreville The Rice Box Cooker, White BRC460WHT https://amzn.asia/d/axDpk6W

    • I have had this for about 5 years. Don't particularly think it makes rice well but it is quite easy to clean.

  • Uncle Roger approved - Fuiyo!

    …but does it play music? 🎵 🎶
How many GB storage does it have?
    Does it have playlist functionality?
Can I connect to it using my Bluetooth headphones?

    • Wrong thread search for phone deals

      • Nek minute in a phone post/deal.

Does this have a keep warm function?
Can it steam dumplings or veggies?

  • We've had this one for ages and it's done it's job well (I think I'd even the model before this one).

When it dies we are going to upgrade to a pressure ih model but can't decide which brand to go with. Don't want to go to $500 so on the cheaper end still.

Anyone got a mid range rice cooker they can recommend?

  • i got a cuckoo now, its pretty awesome

  • Sadly, it is no longer made in Japan

    • At this Ozbargain price, it was never made in Japan lol

  • damn…just bought from bing lee a couple weeks ago since Amazon had no stock and now takes 1-2 month delivery.

  • I've had this for over a year and found it consistently cooks rice very well. I can't compare to brands like Tiger, Cuckoo etc. as I haven't used though mind you

  • not tiger or elephant but it'll do ok :)

Awesome rice cooker, I've had mine for 14 years now without issue

    • Was this same model# around 14yrs ago?
Not sure who dowbvoted your opinion but ive just balanced that out. Seems lots of people getting dowbvoted for no particular reason

      • Thanks.
I'd have to double check the model number but it looks identical besides the addition of the red circle around the off button and yellow around start. Just remember to take the metal inner lid off once in awhile as dried rice starch accumulates there

    Is it Uncle Roger approved?

  • I do perfect rice in the pressure cooker. the 1-2-3 recipe:

    1 cup of rice
    2 cups of water
3 minutes on the manual pressure cooking setting

    • Does the ratio work differently in a pressure cooker? 2:1 seems like a lot of water

      • It's the same if you cooked the rice on a stop top. The rice comes out perfect every time

  • Can any one explain how to cook rice in this bloody thing as mine turns out terrible, much better when I use the stove :(

Ideally can any one just give me the method to use for 1 cup of basmati - how much water and which settings to use, I tried a couple of times and it just became overcooked

Also tried jasmine rice and again turned out terrible so again how much water for 1 cup and what settings to use?

    • for basmati rice I use about 1.2 - 1.3 cup water per cup of rice after washing the rice.

    • I found that a 10 cup rice cooker can't cook 1 cup properly.

Needs a minimum of 2 cups of rice.

Hence why I purchased a 5 cup rice cooker. 1 cup is fine.

  • Back in stock.

Uncle Roger will surely give thumbs up.. leg won't drop this one.

FYI for those who eat brown rice - this thing takes almost 2 hrs to cook brown rice, which is a little annoying. Otherwise, a good rice cooker.

  • what is the minimum cooking temperature of the slow cook?
I was wondering if it might be usable for Sous Vide cooking

  • Why not pressure cooker that cook rice in 5 minutes
