      Just received mine. Works well for me, although I don't have a whole lot of facial hair. Shaves much closer than my 'Xiaomi Travel Shaver (2x foil type)'.

    I've got one of the speakers and as a smart speaker for background music it's fine. Nothing special audio wise but a significant improvement over the nest/Google home minis I replaced with it. If all you want is a reasonable volume smart speaker it's worth this price.

        Honestly, given how the nest mini 2's are perfectly servicable for around the house music, I actually see this as a glowing endorsement for the price.

        Can't say we've had any issues with the mic, picks up from the other side of the living room from the kitchen. Can only compare to the original minis and don't really notice any difference in the pick up between them.

    Curious how the in-built Chromecast works to cast movies to your TV… is there a HDMI connection that you need to plug into your TV from the speaker?

      From what I read, seems to be just standard Google Assistant stuff where you use voice command to control other Chromecast - like Google Home mini. Poor product description, I'd say.

      It's audio Chromecast only, so you can cast YouTube music, Spotify, podcasts ect to it from your phone but no videos. You can ask it to cast to a Google tv/Chromecast so you don't have to use your phone to watch Netflix.

      Upshot of Chromecast audio is it supports multiple devices so you can group a load of speakers and play through then all at once.

    I guess sound wise, this wouldn't compared to an OG (2016?) UE Megaboom? Wondering whether to use this as a computer speaker instead or just stick with the Megaboom and the need to charge it frequently.

      Yup, works like any Chromecast speaker. Mines paired with a Chromecast audio, Phillips soundbar and JBL link portable all working fine.

    I recommend the speaker - it's far better than the google mini speaker. Don't expect earth shattering bass, but it's a solid garage speaker.

      Received mine today.

      Mi Smart Speaker is probably about the same diameter, but about 5x the height. Looks decent, white top/bottom with a matte silver speaker grille. Has an AU power adaptor with some kind of DC jack. Cable isn't very flexible. 4 controls on the top - Volume Down, Play/Pause, Mic Mute, Volume Up. Touch sensitive and it feels as good as a Sonos. Speaker is heavier than the Nest Mini, but I wouldn't describe it as weighty.

      Sound quality vs the Google Nest Mini - Much better. Much more balance and clarity. It helps that the speaker is directed towards the listener, rather than upwards on the Nest Mini. Like others have said, the bass isn't anything to write home about, but it is good enough and I find it better balanced than bluetooth speakers such as the Logitech Megaboom.

      The only other Google speaker I've got is the Google Home Max (discontinued). It does not compare to this speaker at all.
