  • Heating elements and machine washing and safe?
I gotta see this to believe it

    • I suggest using laundromat for washing. Off peak times as well.

keen to hear people's experience with this brand/product.
    Esp on battery life.

Doesn't seem like i can use any old USB C battery bank with PD :(

This is some scary vest. Who wants to wear a radiant heater? In Australia, where it's not that cold!

    • +3

I've had canadians who've come here and say how damn cold it is in Melbourne. What you on about?

      • -1

Melbourne isn't cold. There isn't even any snowfall.

        • ah its trolling ok then.

          • -1

@jaygee: Melbournian winter is coming…. I hope you make it without getting frostbite.

        • +1

Didn't realise snowfall was the barometer of coldness.

          • -1

            @shbshb: Well, it should be.

@[Deactivated]: I'm from northern hemisphere. We get -20c winters there. But Im struggling with Sydney winters so much more. Because the houses here are like glorified tents - there is no escaping cold for 5 months a year. Whereas back in Europe you can wear tshirt most of the day during winter (in car, at home, at shops etc) before and after dressing up and going outdoors.
And no, our heating and cooling bills are not bigger than here in Australia. Its the insulation and building quality that is missing here.

              • @maiuspala: Well said, Sydney has always been in denial about winter.

              • @maiuspala: I lived in Europe for 3 years where winter temps were typically sub-zero. I loved it as I don't feel the cold. What I didn't like is the over the top heating indoors - if it's so warm that you can wear a short-sleeved t-shirt & shorts inside then it's too much.

I agree that Aussie housing build quality is not properly optimised to cater for the weather.

                • @[Deactivated]: Well, in my eyes being too warm indoors is much better problem to have than being too cold. That is easily fixed by turning the heat down. But here there is no button big enough to turn the heat up. You can keep the heater running, but all the heat escapes straight away. And the same issue in summer with a/c.

                  • @maiuspala: We're gonna have to disagree. You can always put more layers on to warm up.

    • Very popular with older people and those with muscle and joint pain who struggle with Australias poor house build quality and just cant afford to run heating for 12hours of the day.

      • +1

I'd argue that a radiant heater vest could cause older folks more harm

    • Its currently 8 degrees at 820am in Sydney..

      • -3c down south

      • -2

        8 degrees is nothing

        • 8 degrees is cold for the climate. Surely you understand how temperatures and regions work?

          • @doobey1231: If you cannot handle 8 degrees then you should move to a warmer climate

Look no arms. It's cold enough to wear a heater, but not cold enough for sleaves. lol

    • A wise man once said "Rub your chest. Your arms will take care of themselves"

      • Oh how wise. Rubbing your chest, presumably with your hands and arms will cause friction and heat, this causing your arms to warm up.

The wise man didn't suggest covering your chest with a heater, and leaving your arms to freeze. Did he say anything regarding sleeves?

        • +2

I don't know. In the next scene he tried to force batman to kill a criminal, and batman knocked him unconscious. If it hadn't been for that, presumably there would have been some sort of discussion regarding sleeves

Get a macpac jacket that will keep you warm enough. No need of this crap

    • any macpac? hmmmm.

  • Call me crazy but you've already got a much bigger heat source on you all the time, your body.

Just buy proper winter clothing for much less than this. No bargain here, just free advertising.

  • Aliexpress has many similar listings for much less. https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-heated-vest.html?catI…

I have bought these cheaper options and find that after a year or two, the electronic heat control fails or the wire breaks on the plug that connects to the battery. I'm on my 4th one already and I'll be buying a more robust but more expensive version from Ryobi or Milwaukee next time.

4800mah will not last long running heating elements. I expect those numbers are in ideal conditions rather than the much colder conditions you would expect to use something like this. As others have said, for that price buy yourself a proper jacket from kathmandu, macpac or whatever else, your body outputs heat naturally, you just need something quality to trap that in.
