Moved to Forum: Original Link

Not the 3rd Gen but for $350 you wont be stressing over the difference.

Not on sale, just show them my receipt

Yikes, expensive case! I wonder if they marked the ipad down because you spent $100+ on accessories?

But nonetheless, a great starting point for hagging down the price!

I highly doubt any JB store is going to match this unless you buy the exact same items on the reciept.

Something like this probably belongs on the forums.

    • Agreed. You paid full price & got your case for free.

it was a price match from Big W!
here is the image link from that receipt

and the other accessories were items i needed and was after they priced matched

The Big W receipt is 3 months old. Most JB's would send you on your way with that. You obviously got lucky and combined that luck with a sales rep who is really dumb.

i havnt met a smart staff member from JB HIFI.
i usually know more about their products than they do.

Maybe there can be a thread in the forums where people can post price matching receipts?

    • no one uses the forum…

        There's a forum??? :)

Maybe a bit early for the negs. I'm sure some people will hit JB today trying to get the ipad only for $350 without accessories, and get rejected. That's the time to then come on here and neg this deal.

  • Where can i pricematch this?

    • Try jb hi-fi, but doubt you will get it.

  • Can I ask, did you try at Big W prior to JB?

    • No as my local Big W had no stock at the time

so is price matching a deal now?

  • +1

They won't do it because firstly the recent is dated to may 12 and so it must be a current sale price where they have stock and the store needs to be at least in same state in most cases but lets forget that for a moment, they need to call big w to confirm this price but they won't be able to because it's not current

    • It's dated August 14…

      • Sorry I meant the big w reciept is 22 may 2012. Also the case purchased for $80 is around $45 on eBay, looks good

        • need one asap for work. but yes cheaper online

or you could hopefully get an ipad 3 for $399 (plus postage im assuming)

All i did was i get a copy of the Big W receipt off a friend called Big W and asked if they had any iPad2 instock they said no. I then went into JB and showed them the Big W receipt on my phone and said will u price match? they responded " Holly S**t thats cheep!, yes we will"

they then asked me if i needed anything else and i said that i did need some accessories and they discounted them for me too! case was original $99 (but $89 at big W)

  • The case is brilliant, have had one for a few months and has handled the kids' attempts to destroy the ipad2 admirably, it was purchased from bigw for more than the price on the receipt ($90 ish from memory). It is heavy though, and for those who are keen on the iPad's clean lines etc the case is one ugly mother.

The point is OP tried it and it worked, so why neg when you havent tried yourself?

  • It's a good price but I wish the OP separated the purchases into two receipts for us, to make it easier oh well.

ok 1 silly question, how do you pricematch? Print the receipt's picture on piece of paper and bring it to JBhifi?

or just show it to them by using the phone?

    never did a pricematch before.

    • Yea just print the receipt/show it on your phone and ask for the same price.

Stores usually only pricematch catalogues/advertisements. You can try with the receipt but don't be surprised if they won't accept it.

      • Do any stores have official policies on receipt price-matching?

        • Not that I know.

        • I work at Big W, and we will only price match things advertised in a catalogue. You can't use receipts-how do we know if it wasn't an ex-display, or a mistake or something dodgy?

  • I went to JB Hi-Fi and shown them the receipt as well didnt work. The best they offered was $392. IPAD 2 are already on promotion on JBHI and Harvey Norman at $429.
