All your base are belong to us

  • Are the monitor lights supposed to be good for the eyes when using the pc at night?

    • +1

Yes. The idea is to reduce the glare and eye strain associated with staring at the screen for extended periods.

      • +3

Just turn your monitor Brightness down, and use night mode etc. Agree need a light if looking at any other documents etc

I don't think the position where these lights are located is ideal but probably ok - would you get light bounce back on the screen?
My monitors are curved but probably still works.

What's wrong those desk lamp on an arm?

    • Also, if you have books/paperwork in front of the screen it's the best lighting angle.

    • +3

Yes. I use it regularly. Lights up the desk and the keyboard nicely without any glaring.
The only issue I had was it didn't stay at the right angle because the back of my monitor isn't flat. I ended up taking the spring out and stuck it with double side tape. It's been couple of years and no issues.

      • Any tips on how to take the spring out? I am facing the same issue with the angle and a curved back monitor.

        • +1

Ah yea, forgot about that lol. That was a mission to figure out how to disassemble it, I almost snapped it.
The 'shiny disks' you see on the either side of the bracket, the right hand side one has a screw. You'll need to unscrew the disk which will give access to the internals including the spring.
One thing to note, the screw isn't actually stuck to the disk, you may notice the disk is turning but not unscrewing. Try to push down with your thumb on the disk and twist (counterclockwise) at the same time. It will eventually unscrew.

      @harvestloon

      good for the eyes

I found out not really. It's gets so glary that it gives me a headache after awhile. I hardly use it if not at all. It just sits on top of my monitor collecting dust.

Maybe one day I'll find the courage to try it on again.

    "Baseus ScreenBar Monitor Light $14"

    You mean $41?

    • +2

No $14 when the deal starts.

Have two of the light bars and one of them became loose. Absolute ordeal to fix. Work quite well now that I've tightened
    an internal screw.

Do not enable automatic sensor mode it will drive you crazy as it's quite sensitive. The brightness is quickly adjustable anyway. Completely reset the light if it randomly goes into sensor mode which is rare but sometimes possible.

Just make sure you power though a USB adapter, via the computer tends to activate sensor mode and keep track of returns information and proof of purchase.

Otherwise actually a decent light bar especially for this price.

  • The light is listed as almost gone already. I imagine this will last 2 seconds.

The stock will be updated for when the deal goes live.

Still lasted for longer than I thought- I didn't realise that there was an "Ebay Plus" and had enough time to faff around signing up to that before buying one.

It'll be interesting to compare this to the Xiaomi bar which I already have.

      • Not sure if anyone is going to see this comment, but putting it up anyway.

The Baseus Screenbar light really sucks compared to the Xiaomi.

It has trouble fitting on some monitors (I have some slightly older Dell 24" screens that are a tad thicker and they won't fit on), the angle of the light is fixed (Xiaomi is adjustable) and one of the touch buttons is broken out of the box.

Okay for $14 if I can give it to someone that has a screen that it'll fit, but as an overall product very disappointing.

  • Sigh missed out coz my free shopback sponsored ebay plus expired last week…

  • Made a mental note to get this at 10am, then forgotten about it.

Intrigued about monitor lights, $14 is cheap to try it out. :(

  • For some reason, I was charged $4 for the shipping. Sent an enquiry to the seller. Was it free shipping for everyone? I have eBay+ membership for the eligibility of this deal. Thank you in advance.

    • So what was your total?

      • All good, mobile Citi got back to me and will provide refund once it's delivered. But to answer your question, it's showing $14 for the item, and $4 for postage. The total shows $18.

    • Were you definitely charged that? Or it just showed on the order summary? eBay funds the seller $4 for express shipping if you are an eBay plus member so it might just show on the receipt/email.

To help sellers with the additional costs of express postage, eBay contributes up to $2.50 for items up to $15, and up to $4 for items over $15. For example, on an item over $15, if you're charging $2 for the express upgrade, we'll cover $2. If you're charging $7, we'll cover $4.

      • I think the policy you posted here is suitable when you ARE the seller and how much eBay will cover for you on express post. But in my case, I was charged for $4 and it's supposed to be free express postage anyway when the buyer has plus membership.
Anyway, the seller responded and will provide refund for $4 once I receive the light. Thank you for your help though.

        • Yeah that's right, it's for the seller, not the buyer. I was just wondering if your invoice displayed that $4 but you weren't actually charged it. Sounds like that wasn't the case though, very odd.

  • Anyone having any issues with their light? I have to press the power button multiple times to get it to turn on

    • Mine does not turn on at all. The touch sensors have lights so I think there is power…

      • I connected mine to a phone charger into the wall and it seems to have fixed it. Seems very particular with the power its getting

    • Junk.. should send it back.
Just go to IKEA and get one.
