ubank Website Is Now Unusable

ubank has "upgraded" there website and app and is now terrible/ barely usable. I got stuck in a loop trying to log in and the whole UI is terrible. Anyone else having problems? For an online only bank its pretty pathetic to have such basic issues. Seems ubank is barely relevant anymore anyway as there are now better HISA, anyone have any recommendations for a better bank?

I don’t have the looping issue with logging on but I know others have mentioned it. My issue is the layout is terrible. It looks like something a primary school kid put together.

    • Yes the layout is also terrible, not sure how they could make it worse than it was?

I wonder who did the usability test?

        • +2

There's no way this was tested and still went ahead unless management ignored all feedback which is also a real possibility.

@apsilon: I’ve worked for two large organisations in my career. Ignoring feedback to meet the deadline is a, distinct, possibility. I sent feedback to UBank expressing my displeasure with this. I, suspect, they really don’t give a toss. There will be “improvements” if they can stump up the money to fix it. Once outsourcing came in I spent a fair amount of my career with “work arounds” to bodgy software systems the companies purchased.

    I just used it.

    • It makes sense it would make sense to you!

always has a 'shit' layout the new layout is worse

    but they have good rates

    • but they have good rates

Not according to many comments in their recent rate-rise deal post.

    • but they have good rates

      had

They were also one of the first with big cash backs for new loans and had poor admin where they sent out a couple of extra GCs.

Yes I've had a problem where after logging in it kicks me back to the login screen. If you try logging in again it says "Invalid Auth Token". Need to open a new tab to login.
imho old UBank was fine but you don't get a choice about upgrading, so will see how the new UBank goes.

  • Is fine for me

UBank really shit the bed with the new website/app, a total piece of unusable crud!

  • To fix the looping issue I'd suggest deleting all cookies associated with ubank and then try again.

  • Call them and tech support will take you through logon.

After account upgrade, website acted weird if I logged in with email. Logging in with mobile number is fine.

  • App works fine and looks the same to me - Android

  • As long as they pay me 4.75 per cent, I can live with the shortcomings.

    • Fine with losing money on real terms to inflation?

  • I've been a Ubank customer since 2010 and for an online only bank they sure have always had pretty terrible customer experience. It took so long for them to even develop an app, for an online only bank you'd think it was a priority. Best thing about upgrade was I was able to retrieve some money from old accounts that ubank had made inactive.

    Ubank has gone downhill fast

    1) Didn't pass the full rate rise
    2) App and www. sucks
    3) Sweeps are gone, which means i need to manually top up the Ultra account
    4) Changed all of our account numbers and cards

Oh and my rent got direct debited on the old acct #, got an email from uBank saying the payment will be forwarded to new acct #. This didn't happen so i got hit with a $25 dishonour fee.

Have spent 2 hours on the phone and 'call backs' that never happened

I just emptied my Ubank account

On top of all the downgrades (needs SMS to do desktop banking, daily limit only $20K with need to call for each higher payment, no secure messages & no online chat for support, always last to apply interest rate rises etc. etc) thay have now messed up the prefill Interest amounts to the ATO.

All generated statements up to about May for accounts migrated earlier have been correct. Backdated interest with a value date of June 30th 2022 was not included in the 2023 financial year. Suddently statements generated in July for the period of Jan-June 2023, included that interest into the current financial year (when no other previous statement has done that). Basicaly they are declaring the same amount accross 2 financial years. I checked the interim statemend for July 2023 and the one before that June 2023 & they have done it again (although new style statements no longer show value dates), same interest amount showing accross 2 different periods with 2 different dates, one on the 30th June & the other on the 1st July. Only Ubank can mess up this way, it's like it's their 1st day on the bank job -:)

Anyways, I send them an email explaining all the reasons I have now moved to MEB/ING/BOQ/STG and asked them to sort out the mess thay have caused. ATO may be pleased to be receivinglots of $$$$ in extra income though due the Ubank double dipping mistake, not so much when they have to refund it all back and all the extra effort will that involve. Hope ASIC hits Ubank with a big financial penalty for lack of integrity & accountability.

  • Ubank has rejected my CC direct debits on 2 occasions in past 2 months. My CC issuer said the DD account details are correct, so they should have not been rejected!!! The DD were rejected a few days after they were processed!!! Something horribly wrong with UBank system???
Now I tried to transfer 1K to an external account and getting error msg to call them!!!
WTF is wrong with UBank???? If no satisfaction soon, I'm moving out!!!

  • The new website is essentially a 'port' of the app experience - so it's pretty ordinary and much worse than before.

If you prefer the traditional online banking experience perhaps someone like Macquarie might be the fit - I was going to move to them as well - as like you I loved the old Ubank setup and hated the change - but decided to tough it out for a few months before making a snap change and while it still is worse than before it's not so bad I feel a need to change.

You can always setup a Macquarie account and see what you think, no need to move etc.

  • I stopped using my ubank account all together until they closed my account.
I didn't even bother to tell them to close it, I was already too much frustrated by dealing with these ignorant morons.
