Dell Outlet seems to have dropped the price on some monitors recently and these 2 QD-OLED models seem to be a pretty good deal. Next gen QD-OLED monitors might be coming soon though so that's something to consider.

Standard fine print about text fringing, burn in, etc. but at ~$1K for the DWF I decided to take a gamble (my alternative was going to be the 42" LG OLEDs, but ultrawide suits me better since my primary use case is gaming)

Insufficient stock: AW3423DWF $1089 removed from title — Mod

  • The 3 year warranty would cover burn in right?

    • +9

Should be the case, refurbs from Dell outlet normally get the same warranty as their brand new units.

Although to be pedantic, the wording of the warranty is different on the item page: 3Y Basic Advanced Exchange Service vs 3-Year Advanced Exchange Service and Premium Panel Exchange (Including coverage for OLED burn in)

      • +2

You aren't being pedantic at all. Thanks for reading carefully and sharing to us.

      • 'Basic advanced' … Bit of an oxymoron, no?

  • What is the difference between the two models?

    • +1

something about upgradable firmware, the one without F cannot

    • +7

DW has the G-sync module, runs a little hotter, 5hz faster,

The DWF has Freesync, upgradable firmware.

Probably can't go too wrong with either option

      • +1

There's an LTT video about it. Why being an early adopter sucks

      • Is gsync and free sync interchangeable between AMD and Nvidia? Not that I can afford this monitor anyway :(

        • NVIDIA can use freesync, amd can't use gsync. Gsync is usually considered a bit better.

I picked up a refurb for 1300 a few months back. Apart from the screen being a bit dirty it looked new.
I'd definitely bite at this price, just be aware that if you use these for productivity the pixel layout is not great (I think the picture quality for office work is inferior to my U3415W right next to it).

  • Thanks! Got one on the way. I guess now I'll have to upgrade my 6600 xt…

Will wait for under <$1k deal

  • I suspect these are returns from those who got it for 300.00
    😂

    • 300?

It was a different monitor (AW3821DW). Dell had a price error at one point and listed it for ~$250, most people's orders got cancelled but some people managed to convince unaware staff in online chat to "expedite" their order in one way or another and received it. So not really a legit deal per se, but gets brought up a lot as a bit of an in-joke

        • wow crazy deal indeed.

        • +10

          unaware staff

That's a slur on the legend of Mujeeb.

          • +4

@RSmith: Our lord and savior, Mujeebus.

          • +7

@RSmith: Muzeeb is the correct spelling. Just sayin'

        • Yep - lookin great on my desk as we speak! Still the unicorn of unicorn Ozb buys.

          • +2

@OzBerghainer: The AW3821DW is the perfect balance for productivity and gaming, however I do wish it had decent HDR.

        • +2

Wait so some pol actually got it? I thought all got cancelled

          • @nightelves: I didn't get it through that deal but apparently a couple of people did.

  • Note - this monitor gets hot and you can feel the radiance. also the fan noise is very noticeable.

    • +3

      this monitor gets hot

      Perfect for winter.

    • "Radiance" = radiation - that shit burns!

  • Anyone manage to get a DWF? How quick did they sell out?

  • +2

LOL, I would not recommend buying the refurbished unit of this model, as many people return it due to faulty firmware. If you buy one that has firmware lower than MB104, then good luck dealing with random soft deaths when the monitor turns into sleep mode.

    • Any more info on the soft deaths you're referring to? Got one at release and so far so good (I think) but would be good to know what to look out for.

      • if you let your monitor go sleep mode after using is for a while using windows10/11. The monitor will stuck at maintenance mode forever and you have to unplug to powersupply to fix the issue.

    Does it have USB-C hub?

    • No the MSI version does though

  • Why not get the Dell 32" 4k @ 144hz deal for $750ish and put the extra $500 towards a better GPU?
serious question as I am not clued in on monitors

    • This one has an OLED panel which are known for great blacks and quick response times. Currently there aren't any 'reasonable' sized OLED monitors for sale they are either this ultrawide panel or a 27 inch 1440p LG panel.

    • Different panel technology. OLEDs have near-zero response times, 'infinite' contrast, superior HDR capability and wide colour gamut.

  • Cheers, finally pulled the trigger and grabbed one

waiting for AW3423DWF to come back into stock, at that price I'm keen.

    • Same here!

      • +1

@micsway @Solrak Back in stock now at $1089, unfortunately the additional 10% sale (that brought the DW down to $1169) has ended though.

  • +1

Oh man this is tempting I am hoping to get a 42" C2 for $1000 though :(

  • +1

    Now showing $1,169?

    • Wtf I just put an order through at $1,299.

Dell will refund me the difference yeah? Literally ordered hours ago.

      • Same here, I am going to try and contact support

      • Dell cancelled my order for the original $1300 and I was able to order at the new price.

  • +1

Anyone who payed the original $1300 before it went on sale, I went to the Dell chat box yesterday afternoon. They cancelled the order for $1300 so I could order at the lower $1169 price.
