Why is this so expensive? Where is the rest of the car? Lol 😂

    • +1

Because it comes with gloves, for that extreme sitting stationary turning a wheel.

      • -1

A very expensive pair of gloves and steering wheel. I hope the gloves are genuine leather 😆

        • +2

It's not actually that expensive in that sphere.

          • @mickeyjuiceman: It is for what you're paying for.. 😅 You could get double the quality for half the price with a base level Fanatec DD.

    • It's G Pro

    • +2

direct drive wheels are always expensive. If you compare it with getting a real race car, it's peanuts.

An alternative from fanatic, pedals + wheel for $799: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/763683

      • Way better value!

Minus the pedals, you're looking at it being half price to the Logitech, arguably twice the quality. Unless you're taking into account the immense value of those Logitech gloves which is guaranteed to shave off atleast .3 seconds a lap.

        • +2

          Twice you've said that.

The G-Pro has been uniformly well reviewed (not something that happens often for logi gear). As in, I have not seen a single negative review of it on performance side (everyone agrees it's a bit pricey at rrp). Happy to read anything you've got that is negative.

The wheel plus pedals on this kit are $1700 for an 11Nm wheel and 100kg load cell brake. The fanatec is around $1300 if you add the load cell brake (75kg) and the 8NM boost kit. Which still leaves it considerably weaker, and at closer to 75% of the price. Fanatec have also had QA/QC problems and have a rep for being difficult to deal with. Logitech OTOH - got a problem, return and replace, job done (it's cheaper for them to not fight returns because volume).

So the extra $400 buys better pedals than the fanatec or Moza (reviewers again say this, but also that it is not a reason to upgrade), 3Nm extra torque, better retail experience.

The draw backs are fan cooling and enormous form factor.

I'm considering both fanatec and this, and even coming from a G29 (horrible in lots of ways), I'm still leaning to the logi as a whole package.

So, no, I don't think "Way better value" for the fanatec, cheaper yes, but also a different package!

@EthicsGradient: I had no issues with reps. Very good in my experience.

I've been through multiple 25's, 27's, 29's and the 923 over 15+ years and can easily say Fanatecs DD with it's 3 less nm's of torque still has a much better feel than the Logitech DD..

Also, Fanatec has a lot better resale value compared to the flooded market of most other logitech wheels.

@WasBargain: I don't have skin in this game, but:

I've been through multiple 25's, 27's, 29's and the 923 over 15+ years and can easily say Fanatecs DD with it's 3 less nm's of torque still has a much better feel than the Logitech DD..

All of the logi's you just listed have 2Nm total and are gear driven not DD - much worse than the fanatec without boost kit. (old g series 2Nm, Fanatec base 5Nm, Fanatec+boost 8Nm).

This is the new 11Nm wheel released late last year, and is really not comparable to the old wheels. (I'd agree the fanatec is massively better than the old g range - I'm on a G29 and this is very not the same thing - have you actually tested this wheel - again not a G923 or similar?)

Also, Fanatec has a lot better resale value compared to the flooded market of most other logitech wheels.

True if you are buying the old G series. I suspect the new direct drive will retain value much better (but needs a bit of time to see if there are any long term reliability issues - this product is too new to comment on meaningful about this).

I had no issues with reps.

Reputation, not representatives. Reddit and whirlpool commenters routinely note that fanatec can be a pain in the backside to deal with for problems and returns. And to be fair, also note that Logitech's drivers and updates are crap and unreliable - and if I have to pick, I'd rather have the hardware side be the place I don't have problems.

And closing it out - I realised there is a bit of middle ground - grab the logi wheel and add the fanatec CSL kit for ~$320, which gives another $160 reduction. https://fanatec.com/au-en/pedals/csl-pedals-lc (only any good on a PC where you can mix and match gear). $1570 for the whole kit, pedals not quite as good as the logis, but a bit step up from the G29/G923.

      • If you compare it with getting a real race car, it's peanuts.

        wow no sh*t sherlock! duh!!!

        • Huh? Where was that quoted?

Also, you're wrong anyway. A lot of racing simulators cost more than those race cars you see down at your local on trackday.. 😅

  • Does it come with pedals

    • +1

      You buy them separately.

    • I just learnt the wheel has paddles that can be used as analogue gas/brakes (as well as separate shifters).

I need to read some more on this but this is a feature I’ve been looking for on a wheel since an old Thrustmaster I had 25 years ago.

  • -3

why would you buy logitech and not an actual racing sim wheel like thrustmaster for this price.

    • +4

Thrustmaster doesnt have an equivalent wheel that supports playstation.

    • +1

Because it's really good? Thrustmaster make all sorts from terrific to near junk.

  • +2

For those actually considering spending this much on a wheel and pedal set, consider also viewing Fanatec and Moza.

Fanatec has an Australian outlet/store so shipping is quite fast.

You might find more bang for buck from those other brands, and a direct drive wheel with load cell pedals too, for less $$$

    • +5

That's only really true if PC is your only platform, unfortunetly playstation compatibility is a rip off. My Fanatec GT DD Pro 8nm with V3's cost more than this and the CSL's with loadcell upgrade would be similar cost to this also.

      • +2

And Fanatec's support is often absolutely terrible, according to those having to access it.

  • -1

my car is $2000 why would I buy this

    • +5

      Because youre povo

      • thanks

    • +2

So you can practice on BeamNG and not kill yourself in that junkbox in RL.. 😅

      • I was just trying to say this is too over-priced haha $1500 RRP for handle is really hillarius

        • +1

Why comment on things you have less than no idea about?

          • -1

@mickeyjuiceman: if want to say that show what you know about?

            This is just a controller

  • Damn missed this deal :( I’ll have to wait for the next sale!
