Are All Woolworths Branches Required to Follow The Weekly Catalogue Sales?

Everytime I go to this specific Woolworths branch, they don't update their prices to match the weekly catalogue. And every time I ask the staff they get all shitty with me and say "UMMM DID YOU SEE THIS ONLINE? WE DON'T DO THE ONLINE PRICES". Half the time when I just scan through it comes out as the weekly catalogue special price, and the other half it doesn't.

How do the weekly price changes work? Does the Wooloworths system automatically updated state wide? Or is it up to each store to pick and choose what they want to follow?

Edit: It's clear the product from the catalogue isn't Online Only since it doesn't have that label on it

My closest Woolworths has recently been turned into a Metro but they haven't changed the signage on the building. Metro stores don't follow all of the catalogue specials.

    • The store I go to isn't a Metro store unfortunately.

OK, Woolies website asks for your local store before let you view the catalog. This deal is definitely online shopping only so that instore price does not match it.

Its App is a very handy and time-saving way to view the current price in your store or find low stock things like this.

Oh yeh thanks for reminding me, I completely forgot about that. Okay that makes it easier to follow up on my point, since the catalogue is applicable at that specific store.

@hammmer: Whilst you are looking at the catalogue, take note of the standard fine print you can find in each weekly catalogue (and the following is on pages 9 and 10 of the current WA catalogue):

Products, Specials and Prices Dropped/Low Price may not be available at Woolworths Metro, Woolworths Online (including Everyday Market from Woolworths), Baldivis, Butler, Broome, Bennett Springs, Cannington, Collie, Cottesloe, Currambine, Dog Swamp, Floreat, Forest Lakes, Gateways, Harrisdale, Inglewood, Innaloo, Karrinyup, Melville, Morley, Noranda and Subiaco Square and not available at Ampol Woolworths MetroGo. Products and prices may not be available at all stores.

              Dog Swamp

              is a WA suburb?!?

@WookieMonster: Thanks for finding the fine print! The store in question is the Booragoon branch, but the funny thing is that I never have any issues with the Melville branch even though it's listed above.

Same change here, and it sucks, as they dropped a lot of home brand options and just carry extra stock of the name brands - at the much higher price. At least city metro stores have a range of hot food and ready meals, we didn't get any improvement there either.

      Their loss is Aldi's gain.

If it's a true woolworths store and not a metro or some other weird variety then if the price scans different to the weekly special price then you get the first item free (first of the same item). The ticket price has nothing to do with the scanning price, so watch the prices as you also get the price free if the price scans higher than the tickets price.

Every 4 to 6 months I get something free, 99% of the time it's a meat special. Got two free legs of lamb earlier this year as the price was on special save $3 or $4, but the legs were still priced from the previous week and scanned at that price.

    • oh wow nice. So you just need to let the staff know what's happened and they'll scan it free? This branch is pretty hopeless since the staff themselves have no clue about the difference between normal weekly catalogue prices and online only specials. They seem to think everything has the "online only" tag, but when I show them it's just a normal product and not online only, they are still in denial and continue to say "MUST BE ONLINE ONLY"

Escalate to the manager or 2IC etc.

If the store staff don't help you, take pics of the shelf price, the catalog price, the fine print, your receipt, etc. and call customer service. I've never had a problem left unresolved and they're very apologetic while sorting it out.

    • This has been in place for around 30 years so many of the young staff do not know about it. In my experience in Vic the Woolies staff seemed to be trained about it but not Coles. The supervisors always know.

I’ve had a couple of young staff at Coles in Vic tell me they’re only allowed to give the price policy a few times a day and they need to get a manager to allow it otherwise they get in trouble. And of course the manager is a 15-20minute wait.

        • I would insist on waiting in the queue so they cannot serve other customers.

Have pricing(and or many other) issues?

Always search for, find and read the Terms and Conditions in the very first instance.

Save you and us a heap of grief trying to crystal ball your exact scenario.

Then, if the store is in error, you can take your evidence to them and say, please explain why and then if you are in the right, get your correct pricing.

I have the Coles Pricing Policy on my device in Files, to show for any staffer that declines a price match or otherwise when there is a mistake or confusion.

    • Good point, will have probably have to start doing this from now on
