Network Constantly Disconnects LAN or Wi-Fi

Bit lost on this one, have tried what I could find on the web, nothing helped

Gigabyte B365M D3H
i5-9400
16Gb
Win10 22H2

Switch is a DLINK DES 1024 which has been rebooted, several ports tried. No problem with other PCs.

Has been working fine until 2 weeks ago.
BIOS is current.
Updated LAN (Intel i219-V)
Tried a few USB WiFi (D-link, TPLink)

Direct LAN to the modem it happens, other PC/Laptop are not having this problem - they maintain connection when this one drops.

Different Modem has also been tried (HFC NBN & 4G NBN)

Windows has been 'repair' reinstalled, also format full reinstall.

Prefer not to change the system yet, but…

  • What frequency have you set the wifi to?

    • Tried the 2.4 & 5.

  • a. if your laptop is ethernet connected to switch AND via wifi to you wifi-router or access point you will get conflict and it will be dropped; either by the switch/router/laptop. you should only connect via one or other. Windows would normally handle this but….

    b. do a ”binary-chop”. swap out switch if you can..then test…then repeat with other.

    c. check cables. especially between router/switch and nbn (assumption) and router

    • it's connected mainly by LAN. This was removed to test wifi.

      It happens without the switch = modem directly cabled to PC or connected by WiFi.

      Tried 4 cables.

  • As you have noted "other PC/Laptop are not having this problem" the issue is pointing to be more local to the PC especially if it is happening with both WiFi and Ethernet.
    Have you tried adding a Static IP, Gateway & DNS to your PC network card to rule out DHCP issues?

    • Figured on it being local, looking for other thoughts/ideas before replacing in case I missed something.

    Sounds like network port on your computer. Try 1) disabling wifi, and 2) using only wifi, to rule at any conflict and confirm if it is a hardware issue.

    ipconfig /renew all

  • Try different driver versions.

    Open device manager, right click LAN and WiFi devices, go to properties, get the hardware IDs and try find different versions of the drivers.

    Another thing that's worked for me in the past is to go through the drivers advanced tab and go through all the features, see if there's anything in there that could be causing issues.

  • Try this.

    Open CMD as admin

    type;
    netsh winsock reset ->ENTER
    netsh int ip reset -> ENTER

    exit and reboot

    Looks like I'm replacing :(

    • Replacing what, PC?
      Grab a WiFi dongle and test with it OR an internal NIC card. If issue still exists then one knows that it not PC hardware related hence pointless replacing it.

      • I have tried:

        Updated drivers
        Updated BIOS
        LAN
        USB WiFi (2 brands)
        LAN cable direct modem to PC
        Different modem (hence different DHCP)
        Repair reinstall of Windows
        Format reinstall of Windows
