  • Thanks OP, really great deal.

  • 450ml says $17.67
    300ml is a bit small

    • Go for 700ml

      • Yeah I bought 5 of them for gifts

      • doctors say you need to drink 8 glasses a day

go for gold, grab a 2L one. two birds with one teapot

      • It depends how many people you're serving.

Glass teapots are perfect for oolong or green teas, which turn bitter very fast if over-brewed. So you essentially want to get the leaves out of the water once it's brewed (i.e. after 2-3 minutes), leaving just a small amount of tea behind to add some 'first infusion' flavour to the second steeping.

Our teacups are ~200ml, so for two people, 450ml seems right. That leaves a small amount of liquid behind from the first infusion, which is perfect.

    • Price was changing for me, then stayed at 17.67

  • Hmmm glass.. so it will be hot to touch? Need extra careful

    • +4

      It has a handle.

    • +1

Just dont put hot stuff in it and it will remain cool to touch and thus always safe.

  • Chances of this arriving in pieces?

    • Coming from local - one day delivery

    • Hit and miss

  • +3

    700ml is OOS
    450ml is up to $33.25

  • 700ml is $23 via Amazon JP

  • Man these would be fragile AF.

I have a Hario glass teapot that's more than ten years old. It's still going strong despite being used multiple times per week.

But then, all I use it for is making tea, and mine has a ribbon between the lid and the teapot to prevent accidents.

I did have a second one many years ago that didn't have that ribbon, and the lid broke when an inquisitive dinner guest decided to pick up the teapot and turn it upside down, from standing-height, with the lid resting on top.

So I wouldn't say they're especially fragile, but probably try not to drop the lid from more than a metre onto a tile floor.

Thanks for relaying some real life experience with the brand. Good to know they're quite strong. I've had a few glass pots break on me because they were really thin glass. I swear one broke just because I looked at it.

  • 450mL is showing $16.82 for me. Got one that price, as it is still a large discount.

Amazon’s pricing is jumping all over the place for this one.

    • Yep. People should try refreshing until they get Amazon JP - but delivery is expected June 12.

  • how prevent staining

    • a) Use it primarily for oolong and green teas which don't stain much (and have delicate flavours that make a glass teapot preferable).

      or

      b) Wash it regularly.

The answer is in the last image for the 450mL pot.

Use a magic sponge. That will easily clean any tea stains.

  • Are these double walled?

    • No, they're single-walled. You'll want to use the handle to pour out the tea once it's brewed.

My one is arrived today, very nice.
