Interesting! I thought they had discontinued the LR range with the wifi 6 series.

    Very tempted…
But most of my needs for such a long range would
    Probably necessitate an outdoor version!

This was their flagship Wifi 6 AP for a while, and now the top dog is the U6 Enterprise (and arguably the U6-Pro has similar performance to the U6-LR too). This is still pushed as their Long Range option.

      • Good to know thanks, I bought the U6-pro in the hopes of having better air link with my quest 2

        • The U6-Pros are great too - arguably similar performance in a smaller footprint.

          • @drmac: from what i read the Pros have the better radio chipsets (qualcom) vs LR (mediatek)

I am new here please go easy

30 Watts for an access point?

    • +2

I think that’s just the injector!
Hopefully it can work with one of the POE switches - they can deliver 15W each port IIRC

EDIT: 16.5W max consumption according to specs

      • +2

I have a U6-LR getting PoE from a tiny US8 (which is also driving another older AP and a Flex Mini) and another U6-Pro hanging off a another US8 with no issues (have done so for over a year now)

        • Thanks - good to know. I always thought the wattage requirements for these things was massively over stated.

    • Capable of delivering up to 30w. The specs on the US UniFi store (https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/unifi-wifi-flagship-l…) state:

Power method PoE+, passive PoE (48V) , Power supply UniFi PoE switch , 48V, 0.5A PoE adapter (Not included) , Max. power consumption 16.5W

Yes, and it needs it too. I experienced random reboots with a standard injector, though there's now a "Low Performance Mode" checkbox option in the console for it to work with non POE+/POE++ ports or injectors. This is an awesome AP and it's definitely long range. Great price too.

    • I got 2 x U6-Pros and they collectively using about 14 watts. Under load I'm sure it's a little more, but you're absolutely not going to be using the full 30W, or 16.5W for that matter.

    Great price - thanks OP

Edit: I just checked the AU distributors, and this is far below wholesale, Amazon must be clearing, or matching… Great Find!

  • Anyone here had problem with the router/console being under 192.168.0.x and the AP being in 192.168.1.x and not being able to find it in the unifi console? :(

Not a networking expert, but need help please. :(

    • +2

Mine often creep up to 192.268.4.x now on a /21 subnet.
Suggest you check your subnet masks etc. also make sure you don’t have overlapping subnets somehow.
Finally reserving a range for UniFi devices and manually assign can also be beneficial (of course it has to appear first, but you can use SSH key to get in and configure it manually first as per Google results)

    • +2

Disable DHCP on your pc and force static ip into the 192.168.0.X range. Then you can access console to make the necessary changes.

      • He mentioned it was the AP being assigned that address (not the PC) and not showing up into the console.

        • ah… I misread what he said.

          255.255.252.0 , /22 should be enough tbh.

  • We are currently using an ASUS AC68U for Wifi, if we were to migrate to use this AP would we see an improvement in coverage?

    • I have the same question. Currently using an AC68U to cover a 180sqm single storey house. Property is 300 sqm. Will a single U6 LR or U6 Pro mounted centrally on the ceiling be enough?

  • +2

It’s marked as temporarily OoS but still let me order

  • Expired already :(

  • Price up

  • Are these omnidirectional? I want to install an AP and cover the floor above the roof

    • All commercial grade APs should come with charts showing signal strength in 3D.

They are not designed to be as sensitive in the up direction as the down, but I've never had measurable issues if my APs are sitting on the ceiling or flipped upside down and placed in a shelf. This was with both my old Unifi APs and my current (non-Unifi) APs.

If you are trying to cover "the floor above the roof" then you might not have an easy time if it. This implies concrete and rebar. My experience is that you can get weak signal through one layer of this.

I have one of these mounted on my ceiling in the middle of the house in a corridor. It looks like a small smoke detector.
Yes, it's omnidirectional; it covers my whole house, about 178sqm of living space. For those of us that don't like cable mess in our house, this nails it.

My Router is in a comms rack in the garage and this feeds up to the ceiling.

Still available for the $195 price, just on backorder. So I ordered one.

    • Not any more…

      • I have updated from OoS -> Expired

  • I have been using these with Dream Machine SE and rock solid reliability. Still have a couple sitting in my drawer waiting for the Ubiquiti Dream Wall to start shipping. A discount on that would be very welcome! Haha

    • +1

Cheapest I’ve seen the wall is $1945, which is about a $500 premium over say a udm-se and 16 port poe switch. Looks damn sexy though, but it’ll be the garage so the screen is useless

      • Yep agreed. I'd say it'll settle down when stocks become plentiful. I hope. Hopefully an eBay Plus deal or a Black Friday special will get me over the line for one. Nothing better than being patient and not making a rash decision.

Garage is where mine is going to go.

  • +2

Damn, I've been looking for one of these. Didn't last long

    • +1

Same! The one day I'm not sitting at my desk working this week

  • Damn missed out 😡😡

  • Doh. Missed this. Any other Unifi 6 AP deals?

  • Anybody's shipped yet? My order is still showing "delivery date pending"…

    • I ordered two in separate orders within a few minutes of each other (after ordering the first decided I wanted another) - the first one has arrived, the 2nd one is still listed as "not yet shipped" and "We will email you when we have an estimated delivery date."

      • ah cheers, I must be in the second lot then, too slow.. I can swear I saw a single digit June delivery date when I submitted the order.. ah well, at least it's locked in at that price. Are you happy with the first one that arrived?

        • Yeah, very happy, it’s a great product. I already have two of these exact models and a couple older lites models. Ordered an additional two on this deal to give some more coverage around the place.

  • Contacted Amazon to ask why my order hadn't shipped despite there being more stock being sold by Amazon AU. They just said there was a problem processing/shipping the order on their end and that they would assign it as priority delivery, so might be worth contacting the chat support if you also haven't received anything yet.

edit: Just contacted support again to ask about something else and they said that the AP was actually out of stock, so not sure what the first guy was talking about.
