OMO 6kg Washing Powder (Front & Top Loader) - $19.95 [+ Shipping/Pickup] @ Harvey Norman

670

Actually saw it in a catalogue a few days ago that I got in the mail, took a photo and intended to post it up but never got around to doing it until now!

You can click on washing powders on the side to view just the two Omos, otherwise it should be somewhere on the first page of washing machines.

This works out to be $3.325/kg. For reference it was $7.96 (half price) for 1.5kg at Coles about two weeks back ($5.31/kg). This is the "Made in New Zealand" edition (can be seen in the Specs tab)

Tried a couple of postcodes and delivery comes out to $5.95, otherwise it seems you can pick it up in store!

The website states the deal ends on August 26th, so just under a week to go!

  • Great deal, Thanks OP! I ordered two, del still $5.95!

  • thanks. picking up two this weekend.

  • +1

Thanks for this OP! Nearly bought a 5kg omo box for $30 on special but glad we decided to wait! Best thing does come to those who wait it seems!

  • Thanks! Just in time! was about to head to Big W and just get what ever was cheapest :P but Omo! for sure :)

  • Sucks that it's out of stock all around me and I'm too tight to pay for $5.95 shipping…. HAHA

    • +1

Don't be penny wise but pound foolish; this is a damn good deal. Even if it's $25.90 (or $22.93 if you're buying two), it's much better value than buying at the supermarket, even when it's on "50%" special as mentioned by the OP.

  • I also found it to be out of stock near me, but I placed an order to 'collect from store' at no extra charge. I'm guessing they do a similar thing to Target and send from a warehouse to the store for you.

On trouble is OMO smells like vomit. (after the wash)

    • +2

I think that OMO is the best smelling washing powder, besides Tide. God, how I love the smell of Tide. Pity I can't find it in Australia.

  • not bad price!

  • Thanks OP

  • ORDER UPDATE

    Dear N*********t,

We're experiencing a delay with your order. We estimate that your item(s) listed below will be ready in approximately 10 days, at which point we'll contact you.

    • just got the same email, i ordered 4 and it says 2 on backorder…

      • oh well no rush as long as I get it in the end I'm happy :) still kinda silly they make you pay for the goods before you can even pick em up tho..

  • Thanks OP.. just ordered one to pick up at Hoppers Crossing..

  • Great deal - too bad they dont have the Omo Sensitive on sale at the same price :(

    • -2

Did they call it Omo sensitive just for a laugh

  • Don't know whats the preference, but Big W normally sell 7.5kg's of FAB for $22.

hmmm I pay $10 for 5kgs for some cheap stuff (Royal laundry powder) that works really good….
    From Campbells Cash&Carry :P

I know OMO is a good brand name but its all the same stuff…

    • +1

Each to his own but Choice has carried out independant testing which has shown that it's very much not 'all the same stuff'.

Yes, some of the generics beat the brands but top of the pile by quite a way were a few of the brand names.

This deal works out at ~$0.15 per wash, going down to $0.05 per wash etc really doesn't compensate for lesser results….IMHO anyway.

Like I said, not slamming your choice of the cheaper stuff as thats a personal call but to say its all the same stuff is a gross oversimplification.

This is a very good deal on a very good product. :-)

      • It Really depends on how dirty your clothes are and how fussy you are and how good the washer is….

Me Im not fussy and my clothes aren't dirty…

  • +3

Broadway HN just called me and said that they'd sold out of 6kg boxes, and offered a 5kg box for $16 instead. Actually cheaper per kg, so I'm okay with that :)

  • Great deal OP - thanks for posting.

For those who want to work out the maths…..based on the 7kg packs of this product selling with '160 washes' on their label - this 6kg pack should do ~137 washes.

That makes it ~$0.15 per wash. Which is exceptionally good, Big W seems to sell the 7kg pack of same product for $39 (24c/wash).

Ordered 2 of these - picking up from local store when they've restocked.

Off the top of my head OMO and FAB were the two brands that topped the Choice review of washing powders that I read around 18mths ago. Generally you got what you paid for, but as always a few generics were punching above their weight and a few brands underperformed.

Like I said, nice deal. :-)

    • Omo was one of the tops performers, BUT that was OMO Ultimate not the regular OMO

      • +2

You might be looking at the most recent review - HOWEVER the one I looked at (which should still be completely valid as it was JUL11)had OMO Small & Mighty and OMO Ultimate equal top of the front loader category on 85%!

So, sorry but it was this one. :-)

And it was DRIVE not FAB that was the other top performer.

Here's the review (one of their rare FREE ONES) for folks to look over:

        Enjoy, Nikko :-)

  • 1 per customer… :(

    • i was at the hn at the ikea home maker center, no limits there.
      grabbed 2, thanks op

  • Brilliant piced one up 19 bucks thanks

  • Cheers ordered two for pick up (when back in stock).

  • has anyone had their powder delivered? I recieved a call 2 weeks ago regarding pickup and authorised them that i payed for shipping to my address and still no reply. Has anyone had issues?

  • It's been one and a half month after I ordered and paid for the item. I chose Harvey Norman - Springvale store for pickup. As I had the same bad experience in chossing this store for pickup an item before but never received any email for few months, which is same this time as well, I decided to go to the store and check the status.

When I went to the store there were heaps of OMO 6kg washing powder packs stacked everywhere in the store. The price is same. I talked to a sales guy who asked me to go to another guy. He directed me to another. He was busy showing some electric items to a customer and didn't have time or bother servicing me at all. I was following him for about 20 minutes everywhere in the store but couldn't talk to him. then I went back to the original guy and he said he can not help. I asked for a refund and then he said come back another time once I get the email. But the problem is I never received an email for past 6 weeks and I don't think they would ever send one.

I spent 45 minutes in the store trying to get it. If I was desperate I could have bought heaps of them from store for the same price. I had to leave the store without the item. I will try one more time again and will push them to refund the money. I would never buy online from HarveyNorman again and select this store for pickup.

  • Haven't heard anything as well, sent them a message via the contact link, let's see what happens.
I would rather not to have to go down to the store and waste time trying to sort this out with clueless sales people….
