Holds up to 34 inches / 11.3kg, rated very well everywhere - I've research this one quite well.

The Amazon Basics (white label, same manufacturer) is also on sale for $140:
- 1 year warranty vs 10 years with the Ergotron
- "flat" vs "matte" finish (apparently similar, but the Ergotron feels more premium from what I've read).

I just picked this up two days ago at $233 and will be returning as Amazon doesn't do partial refunds. I've now ordered two of these at thew new price.

  • costs more than my monitor

  • Does anyone know under what group does it fall for cashback? Home office??

    • +1

They say 34" and 11.3kg (25lbs). I bought mine planning to go from 27" to 32-34 in the future.

I wonder if I need HX for my old (a bit heavy) 30" Dell.
It is around 10kg so should work in theory…

    • +1

They say that heavier monitors may have less height range, but that's probably not an issue. You can also get a taller bar from them if that happens I guess?

And you can always return as not fit for purpose if it doesn't work.

but the Ergotron feels more premium from what I've read

If you buy one you'll certainly feel it instead of just read it online. It feels like it would last forever.

Had to buy the way-more-expensive Ergotron HX model for my oversized and overweight monitor. But after using it for almost a year and a recent encounter with their customer services due to personal reasons, I have to say what I spent worth every penny.

    • Thanks, I now feel better about the extra $40.

    • +1

My imagination is spinning with ideas of what "personal reasons" you'd be calling a monitor arm company!

I guess it got stuck somehow?

      • +3

        Well…

I wanted to convert the desk clamp to wall mounted. They don’t have a conversion kit in their catalogue (I guess nobody asked something like this before?) but they still managed to help me get the parts after going through quite a few departments around the globe (literally!).

Now I can’t think of a reason not to go Ergotron next time I need a monitor arm.

        • +1

Much less exciting than what I was imagining!

@mskeggs: Okay… I mean when is the last time you see a customer service dept overnight a bunch of accessories to fulfil an individual customer’s (not enterprise customer!) kind-of-unreasonable request, free of charge, and say they glad I’m happy.

And their products are not priced unreasonably dear I say.

I’m impressed I have to say.

            • @xmagic: I think it's impressive what they did, for sure - but not the exciting "personal reason" that may have been imagined for calling a monitor arm company.

  • +2

why isn't there a monitor arm that looks as good as the LG Ergo, would be willing to pay this kinda price for it!

    • Agreed, but this is definitely one of the prettier options.

    • I mean I only really see the pole once it's all set up so … I'm not too concerned how the arm part looks

  • +1

No idea which model I picked up off marketplace for $20 but these are worth the money, moves easy but holds steady. Doesn't slowly drift down like my old cheapie.

  • -3

    ebay, same thing $30

Inner product (Ergotron box) came pre-sliced open, re-stickytaped with another label stuck on and flipped over to hide on first view.
    - interestingly, the additional layer of tape was also sliced again and they did not try to cover up the larger import/export label this time

    Adding a neg

Haven't kept up with negging Amazon (problem with seller) even though still seem to get this type of fundamental issue / misleading conduct every few weeks

    • I have two and both came in new condition, full sealed. Sorry this happened to you - Amazon can be dicey.

  • I was about to pull the trigger on three Amazon Basics for $140 but that deal looks to have just ended, now cost $175. =(

Will probably look for something a little cheaper.
