Only in Large or Xtra Large…..

    • +3

bike geometry has changed a fair bit, large bikes are not as errrr….big as they used to be.
the main measurement now is reach - basically how far the handlebars are away from a seated rider.
I ride a medium but many brands I could ride a large with no issue.
having said that, a badly fitting bike (if it's just waaaay to big) is not good for control and enjoyment.

amazing price, with a 32T/46T you ain't going to be climing anything really super steep, but that's still fine for this kind of bike.

      • Most old school folks still run a 32 single up front with 36 out back. Beyond 42 I rekon better off walking.

        • ha! maybe on old skool XC tracks on lighter/short travel bikes.

Red Hill (VIC) are my local tracks and 30/52 is very necessary on an enduro (Nukeproof Mega) ! Need this at Silvan and other new school tracks!

      • I ride a medium Trek, I tried a large and I would smash my balls on the bar if I came off.

        • Ha ha! What kind of Trek? I am talking about modern mountain bike geometry found on mid to high end bikes or at least those specifically designed for off-road. Most of these would have a small front triangle, typically older and more budget bikes may have a larger front triangle, which are excellent for smashing your balls against. But who knows, maybe you just have really big, smashable balls?

          • @buckerooni: Hehe, you a probably right. Now that you asked me for details I had to think and it was actually a Merida Cross… something, the large frame felt huge to me. Then I got a trek marlin 7 in M/L frame and the bar was very snug lol. Right now I’m riding a trek fx in medium and it feels perfect, my gf even uses it and I think she is 10cm shorter than me… I also have a silverback stride comp in medium. finally I also have a narco fluid fs 2 in medium and it feels like a small frame. I don’t understand much about geometries.

      • Get the proper size, riding a bike too large is awkward, handling is rubbish and it's heavier/less agile.

  • +1

Hahahahha, all sizes - while stocks last…

  • +2

My bad, already out of stock of 2 sizes. Wow, that was quick!

    • +1

Hi OP. Any idea if stock is likely to be replenished before the end of the month?

      • Unfortunately there is no more stock. There is a chance the next shipment might arrive in the next few days, but the deal on those bieks won't be as good.

  • +2

…this is a steal. rarely see this deep a discount on a well specced bike. would be a great entry level dually

    • Dually?

    • -6

I'm not sure how this is well specced, given its probably better than an aldi bike

      • sure mate…sure.

        • Okay Franco, sure we all trust you

      • yes it is better than an aldi bike as you say. you sure know your bikes my friend. bit of an expert hey

        • Great comeback, this the highlight of your week?

      • Lol you said better than an Aldi bike.
        Of course it would be

  • Great price!

  • Great great price. Alas I'm a medium.

  • The 2023 Polygon Siskiu D7 SE (Special Edition) is also very well priced at $1,949.00 ($550 savings)
Quite a few upgrades on the D6
    https://www.bikesonline.com.au/2023-polygon-siskiu-d7-se-dua…

  • On Polygon official site, the price is only 1149$, then how comes out a 50% off?

    • +1

      Is that not USD?

    • +1

      That would be USD pricing

  • +1

    got one, thanks

    • +1

$25 coupon (via honey) or $20 via first time customer

  • +1

Was looking at this at Christmas and got busy spending money elsewhere. Done!

  • +7
  • +6

    $25 off with SHOP25OFF

  • Any good road bike deals?

    • The road bikes are also discounted. What specs/style of bike are you looking for?

      • Something with automatic gears would be nice!

        • +1

Check out the Helios X range.
I'm currently riding the Helios A9X. Those Di2 shifters are absolutely magic and the bike weighs next to nothing!

          • @PingPongChum: Was considering one, but their size chart suggests they're not suitable for somebody 193cm

            • +1

              @prhino: You're pretty tall.
Reach out to Brad, he's your man when it comes to these sorts of questions. He'll be able to work out whether the bike will be a comfortable ride for you based on your mesaurements. [email protected]

Alternatively book a call and he'll call you when works best for you.
              https://www.bikesonline.com.au/contact-us/

          • @PingPongChum: Those discounts were there before the EOFY sales. Any chance for the Helios range to be further discounted as part of EOFY? :) The A8X looks mighty fine!

            • @ChubDog: The current prices should run till the end of the month. The A8X is a mightly fine ride!

    • +1

Different shop, but this is a good road bike deal
      https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/road-bikes/ridley/ridley-h…

      • Nice

      • A mate got a Ridley Helium SLX rim and di2 years ago, would be my desired spec.. cheaper and lighter..

Nice Deal though, shame about the colours (pink and purple)

        • Cool, can you send the link the Helium with Di2 for less than $5700? I'd prefer Di2 Ultegra too.

          • @prhino: Wish. Just build one or second hand.
Priced one up a few years ago and with the wheels was 8500

            • @G-rig: I'd never ride a second hand carbon frame

              • @prhino: Usually wouldn't either but you can inspect. The bigger worry is the ring of death for carbon steerers.

New bike frames do seem pretty thin compared to my 2003 Bianchi, was I guess fairly early carbon so not Super light , but about 1100g with the fork and seems tough.

                • @G-rig: Thin walls don't mean much and may even be stronger than older thicker walled bikes due to new higher strength carbon.
Even as early as 2004/5, there were sub 1kg frames, fork not included. Some forks were sub 300g as well then so sub 1300g frameset.

                  • @8azinga: Ok.
So if you can press a frame in with your thumb it's still stronger? Not complaining about mine btw.

                    • @G-rig: I said "may" but yes, it can possibly be stronger in certain directions depending on carbon layup and other factors. My comment was a generalised comment that would apply to most situations. You are picking 1 situation that doesnt really matter unless the designer made a big error. Squeezing a tube with your fingers isnt uncommon and happened with aluminium and steel frames as well but that would where it is not as important and where it does not affect performance.

                      • @8azinga: Yeah ok mate.
Look up the Columbus fork, still one of the best designs on a road bike too.

Plenty of other factors to consider and an alu frame with good components would probably suit a lot of people on here just getting into it and looking for an entry level bike. The CAAD range are a good example.

I think you missed the point of my comment, that there is a lot of value to be had with picking up a second hard bike. A lot of people buy them and they mostly sit around gathering dust. The price for new bikes is absurd now (in the case of big name higher end road disc bikes).

                        • @G-rig: There are so many variations of columbus forks from steel to CF, disk to rim brake, straight or curved blades. Want to be a little more specific and what to search about them in regards to CF wall thickness?

You said previously that you wouldnt usually buy a 2nd hand CF frame, so what good is value if you arent even going to buy it because you are worried about damage?
CF wall thickness isnt really something to be concerned about.

                          • @8azinga: Well only because I've never bought a second hand bike and have two, not saying I wouldn't consider it.

It would be fine as I said as long as you checked it over for cracks and dropped the fork out to check for the 'ring of death', which is when people over tighten the steerer bolts and or have spacers and a plug that isn't the right size or position. 10 min job.

  • +1

Shipping was approx 28 to Melb

  • +3

I got one of these last year and cannot recommend them enough. I'm a fairly casual rider, do some tracks, ride with the kids etc and I feel for the price it is the perfect bike to be able to do some decent off road riding, but also not feel bad that is doesn't get used every week…

For this price it is a bargain.

  • Thanks OP now I need to sell my old bike 😅

  • Any chance the Path X4 will be further discounted this winter?

    • +1

I doubt it, these prices are part of the EOFY sale which runs for the month of June.

    • +1

Surprisingly after EOFY prices have been slashed across the board. Was looking at the Path X4 as well and picked it up now that it's dropped a further 100 to 1299.

      • +1

Thanks for the heads up. I paid $1599 back in May, time to contact my CC company for credit.

  • -1

Does anyone know the full weight of this bike in large or any size really thanks

    • +1

16.3kg, not super light but you can't expect too much for this price!

  • +1

Any chance the smaller sizes will be restocked before the sale ends?

  • +3

Sick deal. Shame bout the sizing though.

@OP - D7 at 50% and youll clear stock in 10 mins. Go for it!!!! ;)

    • Haha, yeah I bought the D6 (luckily I'm a large) but would've loved if the D7 was on a similar special!

    • Hahahaha! We can only wish.
I'll let you know if that happens…. And buy one for myself at the same time.

    • Is the Rockshox significantly better than Suntour/Fusion combo?

Otherwise just upgrade the shifter and cassette to get 11 or a step further 12 speed.

      • It would be much better imho

      • Won't be possible to go 1x12 or 1x11. Nor would you spend the $800 doing so on a $1000 bike.

You'd buy a better bike to begin with.

  • Good price, might bit the bullet on this one…been looking for a bit to change from hardtail 29er.

  • Epic deal.

  • Been considering the d6/d7/t7.

Unsure the 160mm rear brake is okay for heavier rider?

    Pretty tempting though.

  • Hi!
Could you recommend something that's great and reasonable in price for some light hybrid ride? mainly so that I get off my lazy ass to drive to the shopping centre which is like 1km away haha

    • +1

Good move - local travel is made for bikes
From a lifetime riding, light is not always the best thing in a bike
I’ve had more than one aluminium frame break on me (not fun when you are moving :)
The Chrome moly steel frame I use for commuting/local is the best move I’ve made, this frame will last me for life, and not too heavy.

  • +1

Bike shops are bleeding heavily. Specials and sales everywhere. By mid winter prices will be even more cheaper.

Giant began their annual Spring Sale in May ?
    bikeexchange.com.au your best friend.

    • -1

At this price bike manufacturers would still have very "healthy" margins, it only shows how overpriced these expensive bikes used to be.

      • Not quite, there has been an oversupply issue since the bike shortages during Covid. At the moment bike companies are bleeding money with lots already going under in the last 6 or 7 months.

    • I'm guessing this model in particular is a good price because its middle variant. In one of their videos they dismissed it a bit "may as well go cheap and get the D5 or splurge the extra for the D7".

This puts it just above the D5 now.
      D5 and D7 are not 50% off

  • I'm 188cm (right at cutoff between L and XL) - should I go L or XL? Thanks

    • I'd go xl. Use their sizing guide.

Ordered a xl looking forward to it.

      • Do you think the larger frame would mean your stance on the bike leans forward more?

        • Yeah longer reach means you'll be leaning forward a tad bit more

          • +1

@imahippy: It's weird though, in the size calculator if you choose "comfortable" instead of "sportive" it selects XL. With the reverse it is L. I would have thought comfortable would have been more upright, so this suggests the larger size allows this even though reach is more probably because it is higher up

    • I do have longer legs that average average for height also. And would prefer a more relaxed stance and will be mainly lower grade trails. Should I go up or down?

      • Longer legs then definitely go XL. It gives you an extra 1cm to the pedal. Similarly better for a relaxed stance, rather than sporty where you want a smaller frame as you want to lean in more.

  • What do you recommend for road bike? I’ll need size s and hopefully light

    • What's the budget?

    • 1K wont get you a decent, light road bike but that also depends on your expectations as to what you consider light.

  • Purchased thanks

  • I'm not going to lie to you, but I don't understand the appeal? Help us non-knowers understand?

    • +2

If you're like the guy in the last two pics, it's relevant.

If you don't do that, it's not.

  • Try a REID bike if this is the spec your after. I brought the top spec MTB and the another for 950 with better parts than this

    • actually this is pretty darn good

    • Reid is more value driven, less performance oriented, similar to what Cell Bikes used to be (the original shop at Stanmore).

Would definite rate Bicycles Online higher in quality components.

    • yeh nah

    • The Horizon 1.0?

It's currently $100 dearer, uses a 3x9, no dropper, lower spec suspension, QRs vs thru-axles and 2.1" tyres (D6 look like 2.3" to me, though not stated in spec).

Nothing against Reid, bought my wife one of theirs a few months back — was a $185 beginner bike though.
