$1,000 Savings with the EOFY sale!
It's the best deal I've ever seen on this bike!
I'd invest some of those savings into some Fasthouse gear and a new helmet.

For anyone looking for a full suspension, dropper post, Shimano Deore 1x10, modern geometry trail bike that's easily upgradeable, this is the best deal of the year.
This is not a black diamond trail bike, but it is very forgiving and will easily handle a good beating.

REAR SHOCK: X-Fusion O2 Pro RL, Air Spring
DRIVETRAIN: Shimano Deore 1x10-Speed
CRANKSET: 32T
CASSETTE: 10-46T, 10-Speed
AXLES: Thru-Axle 15x100/12x148
SEATPOST: TranzX Dropper Post, Remote Lever

For anyone interested in a more higher-end bikes, you can get the 2023 Marin Rift Zone 29 Carbon 2 for $4,199.00, that's a $2,200 savings (you can buy 2 Siskiu D6's with the savings!)

      • D6: 2.25" wide, I was close.

  • been looking at this for awhile now, too bad i'm a bit late to the party, size M long gone :(

    • It's on sale because of limited size. Medium was not available from the get go. So you didn't miss anything.

  • I don't get it, size chart says I can go L, but L size under selection says you ahve to be at least 180?

Been looking for a replacement to my MTB that got stolen. Thought I could get a decent second hand one but searching over the last year, the prices people are asking… you may as well buy new.

$1000 is a great price for any decent FS MTB (even second hand). The only thing I may upgrade on this is the forks but otherwise the componentry are solid and well reviewed.

    Cheers OP 👍

  • Anyone ride the Helios A7-9 road bikes and can talk about the stiffness of the frame in comparison to any other bikes? I ride a Giant TCR Advanced SL rim.

  • +1

I have this exact bike and it is really good, i've ridden it on black trails, the only downside is the tyres are really shit imo.

    • +1

Easiest thing to change out and upgrade.

    • yeah, I had those tyres on a Vander I bought a couple of years ago, I got punctures in the sidewalls of them just sliding down some rocks! changed them out for some Maxxis tyres and the bike seems to be really good now.

  • Hi OP, do you still have this in Large available? Thanks.

    • Website says no. I can only assume OP doesn't have a secret supply.

      • I will need to grow another 10cm then …

    • They have one XL left!

      • Where does it say that? I can checkout with 3 in cart, although im sure if it actually goes through or not.

  • +1

Thanks Op.. I bought a 2023 POLYGON HEIST X2 bike.. Here's to myself that I use it a lot more than my previous bikes.

  • +1

    Snooze = Lose.

OP if you do have more large on backorder let me know! Unlikely but oh well.

Or tell me when the D7 or T7 go on 50%!

    • I was gutted that I missed out too. Started looking elsewhere and found that bikesonline also sell a d6 trapez 29 model for the same price through bike exchange.

It's not quite as well spec'd as the d6 but there's really not much in it

      • Whats the difference between the two?

        • Must be sold out now because I can't find it anymore, but the trapez had slightly cheaper fork (SR Suntour XCM HLO) and cheaper tyres too

    • There really isn't much difference between L and XL. You sure xl is too big?

It is really hard to ride on a push bike in Sydney.

  • -2

    Suntour fork, 1x10…. Hard pass…
1x12 with 140-170mm Rockshox, TPR, Fox with a matching brand for front and back suspension.

    • And you'd be paying double the price at least.

      • -2

        99bikes did a Norco fluid fs1 2023 for $4000 for me.
There are some GOOD deals about!
They only had 23 left in stock

        • +2

People in the market for a $1k bike wouldn't even consider a $4k bike. It's a bit like saying a Subaru WRX is trash, you should buy a Porsche instead.

          • -1

@wombat81: 1k you're still firmly in the hard tails and for good reason. When this fork gives way or back suspension you'll be up for more than the cost of the bike, it's not serviceable and not hydraulic. Many HTs would actually perform better than this. It's not like this bike is capable of doing anything more than a few mild trails given the components. Many would even struggle to go uphill with a 1x10. A 1x10 Deore is even on a $600 talon 2 with a suntour fork this has MT201 brakes. That's comparable to a tektro MD/TKD143 entry level talon 2 at $600 I think many would want atleast M6120 deore/M7120 SLX.

Hold tight 2 more weeks and see the sales then 🙂

This bike is firmly only worth $1000 full price.

            • +2

@neofelis: Nah $999 you’ll still get an entry level hardtail from one of the major brands. If you don’t agree find one that has better specs than this and post it as a deal. This bike is good enough for people wanting to get into MTB riding.
What did you mean by the forks and rear suspension were not serviceable?

              • -1

@wtfnodeal: You can clean the forks out but that's it. They're not hydraulic so once they give out you'll simply need to replace them it's about a $500 fork. It's a spring inside covered in grease with a plastic sleeve.
A rockshock on the other hand would need servicing every 50 hours. A fox could be more frequent given it takes less oil. Not sure about TPR or SRAM.

                https://youtu.be/F0ji4sGcCrE

                • @neofelis: ?! Rockshox is owned by SRAM. In this deal $999 D6 model you get an air spring fork not a coil spring fork in the D5 model.

            • @neofelis: Just because it doesn't have your favourite components doesn't mean it's a bad deal. Sure, you're not going to compete in the Olympics on this, but it's a great price for an entry level dual suspension with decent components.

              • @wombat81: Exactly. This is a real bargain with very capable components for those just want to get into MTB riding without breaking the bank.

            • @neofelis: Hi @neofelis - have you spotted any deals now it's two weeks later? I'm in the market for a MTB

              • +1

@fatlikeyamum: Many of the good deals have sold out. All depends on the state you live in and budget and what you're looking for.
Rays had some incredible deals this last week on Specialized and Trek.
Roscoe 8 don't hold value well second hand so Marketplace should land you one for $1000.
The groupset alone would be worth $700 new.

There are some insanely good deals on FB for only a $500 budget but these would be only available if they were local to you.

I'd jump on a few of the MTB pages on FB and see what others are riding / suggestions.
Giant trance X to fathom are popular
                Fuse 29 or chisels
                Roscoe 8 or 9
Nukeproof is gaining popularity (thanks YouTube!)

It really depends on budget and what you want in a bike. Keep in mind, find a bargain on a bike the fork might need servicing every 50 hours, keep this in mind as the servicing price goes up dramatically.

  • How do you guys know your size without trying it? A genuine question. I guess I probably need a Size M, but never dare to place an order for a bike online.

    • A bit hard to tell for your first bike but reading the geometry and some sites provide guides should help a bit. There are only L and XL left in this deal so you should be around 178cm or above to be comfortable with L or 185cm and taller for XL.

      • L was sold out this morning. Only xl left

    • +1

Yes they will, and can be setup tubeless

    • +1

Running a dhr (rear) and DHF (front) will slug the bike down. Consider another tyre for rear to keep it playful whilst traction on the front.

They're great for trails (sand mud) but you won't get long on gravel. So keep this in mind. You really need to tilt the bike on corners to make use of the side channels. I run a DHF on the front but better options for rear.

  • Anyone know if it's possible to easily swap the crankset sprocket for a slightly smaller one?

    • Yes, very easily

      • Can you suggest a compatible chain ring with around 28T?

        • 32T is already pretty small. May be try it and see if you like it first.

Why are you looking at much smaller chainrings?

The smaller they are, the faster they will wear out.

    • To answer my own question, it looks like a 30T chain ring is also compatible. https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-m5100…

I do wonder if there are non genuine options for 28T or 26T though…

      • You don’t have to get a typical 10 speed chainring. I have a 10 speed chain that plays well and shifts perfectly with my 9 speed chainring. You can otherwise look into a bigger cassette for easier climbing.
Edit: sorry looks like 46t is the biggest cassette for 10 speed.

  • just need a deal like this on the ultegra strattos!

@PingPongChum any chance of bringing this back now there's stock? Maybe an Ozbargain exclusive deal?

    • +1

I agree, that would be great. Size L is back in stock.

    • I'm sure he mentioned elsewhere that this price reduction isn't possible on the new shipment.

      • Just giving them the opportunity to bring it back or a similiar/other good deal before myself possibly and others to go for something else e.g. Trek deals posted recently.

        • I could look into a Bike + $200 Gear package deal (helmets, clothing, gear or accessories)?
Would you be open to something like that?

          • @PingPongChum: Yeah, potentially - were you inferring $1200 package for this bike + gear then? What gear did you have in mind - Personally I could be after helmet + shock pump bundle, gloves, maybe a set of shorts

            • @fatlikeyamum: Same question here? not sure if it means bike at current price $1599 + $200 worth of gear or $1200 total like you suggested.

  • @PingPongChum - need the 2023 Polygon Helios A9X <$6K and I'll buy it in a heartbeat 😉

Maybe offer an OzB exclusive code … pretty please
