  • Hows it for espresso?

    • I'm no expert barista, but I had a Timemore C2 and that couldnt cut it for espresso so I bought this

This does it easily, alot of range to dial in your grind. Grinds quickly and easily.

For the price. Give it a shot

      • Hey

thanks for the post. I have a time more c2 for travel. I love it and have a good dedicated unit at home for espresso.

Any thoughts on how this compares with the c2 for aeropress? I'm thinking for this it wouldn't be much difference in quality, but am thinking of speed and effort. I'm spending 80% of my time away from home lately so anything that makes my coffee ritual more efficient is a bonus.

        • +1

Well i find grinding for espresso easier with the k4 than i find grinding for pour over with the C2.

So i imagine pour over style grinding with the k4 would be awesome

          • @Fergy1987: I wish you didn't say that….now I have to but it!!!!

            cheers

            • @slipperypete: on top of that I noticed you can stick a drill on top. That'll work perfectly with my electric screwdriver

      • how does it compare to hario hand grinder?

    • +1

Just got the k6. The uniformity vs the breville grinder pro for espresso is incredible. So easy to grind. Can easily choke the machine. I have a crushgrind which I used for travel. It was good but ceramic. This blows it away.

      • That's awesome

  • Not sure how these work but which one would you suggest for aeropress? Thanks

    • You could probably use any of these with Aeropress - The K4 and K6 will get you to espresso range though if you ever went down that path.

    • The K0 is probably what you are after, though I would think that a step-up to the K1 might be better if you wanted more range.

I personally have not tried this brand but I do have an 1zpresso Q2 that I use daily for Aeropress/V60.

    • i use a mini porlex grinder for my aeropress

    • +2

Interesting, I am now on the dilemma of whether to purchase the cheapest one or buy the K4 that will let be brew for espresso as well. The main reason for wanting to buy the grinder is for the portability sake as at home I do already have a Eureka Mignon specialista and will primarily be using for aeropress only.

I can't find much information on the burrs other than up to the K4 it's stainless steel and anything K4 and above is titanium.

      EDITED:
Ended up buying the K2 for its burr size over the K1, don't need conical or exterior adjustments as I will be using purely for aeorpress and maybe on the rare case espresso. https://www.kingrinder.com/

      • Good choice. I have a K2 and a K4 used mostly for espresso. The K4 produces a shot with more body and mouth feel - good for the traditional espresso flavour profile. But it does tend to have a homogenising effect on the taste of beans. The K2 let's more of the subtle fruity notes come through.

        • really was surprised when It completely choked when on the finest settings for espresso, now I'm waiting for an aeropress deal to come up… Hopefully soon :)

  • I'm after one of these for my v60 I recently purchased but am curious as to how they would compare to the inbuilt barista express grinder?

    • 16 grind settings vs 240 on the K4/K6

  • Which one for moka pots?

  • Bought a K4 for my portable espresso needs. Looks good, thanks OP.

  • Suitable

    • for dried, leafy plant material? asking for a friend

  • King Rinder?
    Kin Grinder?

    • Kin Grinder. As in when you kick the bucket - leave all your sh1t to your coffee grinder.

      What you doing step bro?

  • K6 looks good too!

Watch out out. The k9 bites.

  • Anyone knows how the K2 compares the Chestnut C2? Thinking of upgrading my handgrinder for filter only brews.

  • I recently bought a V60 while my machine is being repaired and really enjoying the pour over. Now looking for a hand grinder for portability.

Any recommendations on which model to look at? Also curious roughly how long to manually grind 25g?

    Thanks

  • I got a k6 for my Hario pour over collection that I recently acquired. Didn't want to use my machine as it spoils the manual experience of pour overs.

Might have helped sell the deal if you pointed out that the K4 is the equivalent of the 1zpresso J-Max, and the K6 is the equivalent of the 1zpresso K series grinders; i.e. exactly the same burrs inside and very similar to use.

I'd go as far as to speculate that they are likely even made in the same factory.

And yes given the above, the prices - especially on sale - are insane for the excellent quality of use and output that you get!

  • Insane prices. I bought a K2 from AliExpress then a K4 from Amazon US, both were dearer than this. Can't justify any more but man I'm tempted to get the K6

  • I impulsed purchased the K6 which can be had for 103aud from Amazon. Bargain in my opinion

I highly rate it for espresso and filter. Great all rounder. The quality of the grinds is better than the NZ for my tastes.

I have 3 grinders.. and a timemore 078 coming from Kickstarter..

    • I impulsed purchased the K6

      Me too.

You won't be disappointed. It fairs pretty well against the Fellow Ode V2 for filter.

Some of the best espresso shots I've pulled on my gaggiuino gcp with my limited time with it.

        • gaggiuino gcp

I had to google what that is. Wow! That is cool. I don't think I'm that hardcore, but I'm gonna do a bit more reading. Looks like a fun project…
