  • see this recommended all the time, got it, dont like it. still never found a hiking pillow i like as a side sleeper

    • Well (profanity), I'm a side sleeper too.

Look into the Thermarest compressable pillow. I think Find Sports currently have the best price - https://www.findsports.com.au/p/therm-a-rest-compressible-pi…

It doesn't pack down as small, but many hikers have agreed that its worth the extra space in your pack

      • Thanks for the recommendation. It's pretty heavy too

      • thanks! ill look into that, im happy to sacrifce a little weight/space for this

Could give Sea to Summit pillows a try?

For hiking I have this one which I like as a side sleeper:
      https://ozbackcountry.com.au/products/fillo-luxury-camping-p…
expensive, but this is not the best price, I think I bought for around $50.

For camping I don't mind this one, which is now very cheap compared to when I got it:

      • We are planning for our first camping trip soon so collecting all the basic gear.
Why do you have a different pillow for hiking and camping?
Also could you suggest some options for mattresses please - double and single?

        • +1

That particular pillow packs smaller and is lighter so easier to carry in a backpack than other ones which you just throw in the car for camping.

The same would apply for sleeping pads etc

      • That first one looks good, and packed size is small. thanks
