Weber Genesis II/Spirit II/Q3100

Looking for a 'mid-size' to 'Small-size' BBQ
Orginally looking for somthing like family Q 3100/3200

Noticed there are some clearance stock for Genesis II series at ebay, the clearance price for the Genesis II S315 ($1049) is lightly cheaper than RRF price Spirit E310($1099).

Hence, I am looking for some opinons,
Any one have experience with genesis II or Spirit II? any comments. I am tempting to buy Genesis II S315.

  • Wow, thank you - I've been hoping something like this would pop up. I had my eye on the Genesis II e315 for months, but it was sold out everywhere. I had also looked at the Napoleon, which also gets good reviews, but I can't get over the fact it's sold at Bunnings with the rest of their BBQ junk.

  • Another reason I am tempting to get genesis II,

can use the Coles master card below to get a little bit more discount (use this gift card to buy some ebay gift cards, hence I can use multiple giftcards to pay):

However, I cannot find any current ebay promo code work for Genesis II.

Is Gen II much better than Spirit and family Q? This will be my 1st bbq to own.

If you intend to cook steaks, consider stretching to get a sear burner. I've had a Genesis for decades and this is the feature I covet.

      • I (personally) don't see the need for a sear station. I cook our steaks on our BBQ (Q3200) for ~3 min a side and get good grill marks. If I want to be fancy and get a grid pattern I just rotate the steaks 90° after ~1 min and leave them for the remaining 2min.

I have a Spirit II - Great barbie but it is designed to cook more like an oven with the lid closed. This takes some getting used to for a BBQ, you need to be confident with setting the heat, then leaving it and coming back to turn your food then closing the lid and leaving it again, not hanging around and keeping an eye on it like you would a normal BBQ.

I have a spirit..pretty sure genesis gives you better stand, hood, so for similar price worth getting the better model.

Much more versatile than q series , but that comes with the price increase.

I have a Spirit II and have been happy with it.

As I understand it, the Genesis range is made in the US whereas the Spirit is largely made in China. The Genesis has better burners and there's more insulation in the lid which keeps the temperature hotter.

I'd go for the Genesis at this price.
