Can this be spent on anything? Or only at Coles

    • +3

      Anything

      • +4

        Anything online..

        • Can't be used for international online services like zoom, preply, etc.

        • Do these cards have a Mastercard acount number, Expiry & CVV that can be entered when paying for an AirBnb booking?

      • +3

Only online since you cannot add these cards to your mobile wallet.

        • +11

Ouch, anything online means a little bit problematic of the remaining balance is fraction or smaller amounts as online payments normally dont accept split payment?

          • +17

@countmein: Could buy something like Amazon gift cards which has a minimum of just $1.00.

            • +1

@MiscOzB: Oooo right thank u, didnt think about that

            • +1

@MiscOzB: Have you successfully done that before? Is buying GC with another GC allowed

            • +2

@MiscOzB: Is this what people do with their left-overs? Cool, I've been adding to TheLott account, but they tell me I've used too many cards now.
              Thanks!

          • +9

@countmein: Use any small balance to pay your utilities or some bill that allows multiple payments. i usually pay off my council rates or electricity / gas bills this way.

          • -1

@countmein: Buy your own eBay item

          • +1

Wasn't in the post when these comments were made.

        • +2

It was in the T&Cs. BG edited it in quite fast

      • Thanks! Yep, wasn't any info in post yet when we commented. I bet 9.01am will be sold out haha

  • -2

    Can't see 10% off

  • Starts from 9am

  • +1

So this one can only be used online? No apple or Google pay?

  • +2

Can theses be added to mobile wallets Google pay/Apple pay/ Samsung pay?

    • +3

      NOPE

      • -1

Probably for the better. You don't want to add too many of these cards to your mobile wallet in a short period potentially triggering the system.

        • +4

          What system trigger

          • +2

@capslock janitor: Apple Pay and Google pay don’t like too many cars added in such a short period of time.

I think someone on OzB got their account locked out because too many”ultimate gift cards” were being added at the same time.

      • IDK now just realised these are digital ones being sold so how the heck to use it ??

I would hate if its like just online credit card number and expiry date, CVV given by email, with no ability to do instore payments with these

Basically gonna end up with lots of unused balance in this way

        • at lease we can use the unused physical card balance in WWS. but how can we use the unused balance online?

        • +14

Basically gonna end up with lots of unused balance in this way

I use them to buy Amazon gift card.

          • @jimojr: really you gonna get 7% of amazon GC with these ??? given one can easily get 10% of regularly with Cashrewards??

There really needs to be a 100% usable structure on like online shopping, like council pay, rego, Restaurant bills etc like that.

Edit just realized if your bpayer allows auspost paypal bpay you could bPay with this in full amount of card

            • +3

@USER DC: Did you miss the question that was answered? Good option to use up small leftover balances that would otherwise expire…

Or, seeing that the CR offer usually is $3 for a $30 card - if someone needs a lot, 7% isn't bad either.

            • @USER DC: Sorry to ask the stupid question.. but how can you do this?

Never used Post Billpay before and my council rates are due today ($689 😕)

              • +5

                @vash5:

                1. Add card to PayPal
                2. Download auspost app
                3. Pay your bills in app
                • @TanedaR: Ahh ok.

But how do i make PayPal take funds out of multiple of these cards and not my bank cards?

Thank you for the help, its appreciated.

                  • +3

@vash5: You will need to pay your bill $250 max a time.
Just choose which card you would like to pay from your PayPal wallet.

                    • @TanedaR: Gottcha.. thank you.

I didn't know you could make multiple incremental payments for council rates (thats the part that threw me).

                      Thanks again 🙏🙂

                • +1

@TanedaR: I just tried to pay my council rates via Postbillpay and I see no option to pay via Paypal. Only option I see is using a card - and when I use this option I am getting this error:

The billpay code cannot be paid via this service at this time. Please refer to your bill for an alternative form of payment.

Seems like my council has disabled postbillpay option.

                  • @shahfar: Yeah - it depends on the payment options offered by your council. Some only offer post bill pay in person not online unfortunately

                  • @shahfar: I go to council site and pay there, not using PayPal, Works fine for me.

                  • @shahfar:

when I use this option I am getting this error

Did you enter 250 or 250.00? There will be an error if enter 250.

  • +39

Since these are digital cards, I wish we can register it with our email and lock it online to prevent hackers.
btw, why is $7 purchase fee the same as physical ones when the issuer has already saved a lot of packaging cost

    • +13

      Doesn't make sense does it

      • +7

        it's Digital only

        • -2

Dang, that's not really that good then.

How we gonna be able to use the last remaining few $$ or cents on it until $0 ??

          • +2

@USER DC: utility bills or WW gift cards for the last remaining $5.xx

            • +2

@TanedaR: as far as I remember WW gift cards website DOES NOT allow purchase of gift cards without the 3D security on cards (blocks these sort of prepaid debit cards)

              • +1

@USER DC: Last time when I purchased WW gift cards online, probably 9 months ago, it worked.
The vanilla visa didn't work. It may have changed.

Otherwise, just buy from Shopback or Prezzee

                • @TanedaR: I tried the physical version on WW gift cards online and it didn't work. which gift card from shopback can type the value instead of the fixed value?

                  • +3

@RichardF89: In that case, perhaps utility bills is the only way,
that's how I spend the last few dollars with my physical ones.
AGL accepts paypal payment for free, >$10
my water supplier accepts online credit card payment for free >$2
my gas & NBN provider accept online credit card payment for free >$0.01

                    • +1

@TanedaR: can you add the physical coles gift card to PayPal?

                      • @RichardF89: physical Coles Mastercard gift card, yes, have been doing so for years.

                      • @RichardF89: btw, after adding Mastercard gift card in your Paypal account,
you may use AusPost app to pay your bills via Paypal.
In most cases, it's free of charge.

                        • -1

@TanedaR: thanks so I can the gift card to pay my credit card

                        • @TanedaR: Just be careful of paying using Post Billpay. While it’s technically ‘free’ to pay at AusPost your biller may have a service fee for doing this, negating any savings you might be trying to gain. For example, I once paid a credit card bill this way and while I didn’t pay extra at the Post Office it attracted a $3.95 service charge on the account. Make sure you check the statement first, that should clearly state if using Post Billpay will incur a fee later. If it doesn’t then you’re all good.

              • +1

@USER DC: Worked with paypal for me

              • @USER DC: You can get around the block by adding the card to Paypal first and paying with Paypal :)

              • @USER DC: Yes didn't work at WW gift cards

            • +4

@TanedaR: Can't buy egift cards at WW with Coles gift Mastercards

              • +3

@bob19: Can add the cards (both Mastercards and Vanilla) to PayPal to then buy the Woolies gift cards.

                @RichardF89 @USER DC @TanedaR

Also to use up small amounts I do split payments for things like fuel and groceries.

                • @MiscOzB: Ever tried purchasing WW gift cards using these gift cards on benefit portals such as NRMA or nib?

                  • +1

                    @j1nx: Via NRMA yeah.

                    • @MiscOzB: Great, thanks. I’ll grab a bunch and redeem immediately via NRMA then.

                    • @MiscOzB: I just had another look… it appears that the purchase of WW gift cards now directs you to the official Woolworths site with the 4% discount applied, not to check out via NRMA like it used to.

Are these gift cards able to be used for payment on the official Woolies website?

                      • +1

@j1nx: Didn't work for me directly but did via paypal

                        • @sub102: Not working for me even with PayPal

                          • +1

@Anonymous101: Payment didn’t go through but money got deducted twice with no confirmation from Woolworths for the gift card yet :/

                            • @Anonymous101: My second one ended up with an error and then an instant refund. But it looks like the refund will take a few days to appear. Anyone else have this issue? Is there any workaround?

                            • @Anonymous101: How come the money get deducted without payment going through?

                              • @sub102: Both transaction are refunded now. Not sure what happened exactly.

    • +7

You can purchase it with amex and earn amex points indefinitely that way. Essentially making an amex card equivalent to visa/master.

    • -1

The $7 fee is their profit margin - they are selling $1 for $1 as this is a MasterCard.

      • -1

In that case, aren't they losing money due to the 10% discount?

        • yes - but they are not discounting 10% all the time, and have purchase limits.

from a comment below, they also make $ with unused balances.

  • +2

What is the best use for these cards, pay council fee/utilities bills?

    • +12

      Pay ATO

      • +41

Ato only accepts Apple gift cards

      • Can we use multiple cards to pay to ATO? Or just 1?

        • You can use multiple.

        • +3

5 per day via mygov and can do another 5 per day by governmenteasypay. Charged .04% fee I believe, might be 0.2%, it will tell you.

          • +4

@Bdawg: @Bdawg Never heard of governmenteasypay… thought you were joking.

Looked it up and it's actually a thing lol.. gonna use it.. thanks!

            • +2

@Devil: For governmenteasypay you have to grab your payment reference from mygov.

              • +1

@Bdawg: @Bdawg Here's something interesting for you. I don't know if they've changed it, but I actually got through 9 payments via mygov successfully. 10th one failed.

Went to governmenteasypay and they took 5 before 6th one failed.

                • @Devil: Interesting, good way to quickly burn these cards so hackers can't have em. Someone was saying in comments you can make 5 per 12 hour period for each…

                • @Devil: same thing happened with me, I have done 14 payments (10 mygov business) and 5 governmenteasypay.

I have $16k to pay lol.

Im hoping to do at least 14 a day. I have 64 cards to buy at $250

                  • @frazel: I have $34k to pay! Might be in need of a new accountant.

                    • -1

@koo88: crap ay, thats going to take a while to do, but for $2.2k profit its worth it.

Im 25 cards in, still 40 to go. Need to wait until tomorrow.

At the moment, as far I can tell its 14 cards a day.

            • @Devil: Lol I legit thought it was a joke too, had to check it myself. Such a dodgy sounding name, if it wasn't for the .gov.au TLD I would've thought the site was a total scam
