Damn.. no more free sendle labels!

    • +14

I won't touch sendle even it's free. 2 out 4 sendle parcels got some issue, then I stop using it.

      • +7

So what you’re saying is they should be called Lostle?

      • +1

I have also had nothing but trouble with them, especially pickup from home service. Just forget about it.

    • where the free final fee promo? they never do it any more at Ebay. its not worth it any more when they charge 22% of the price after you sell something.

      • I thought it was 10%?

        • -1

nope when you get a sale check it will be about 22% massive rip.

      • This is the final fee promo, isnt it?

      • I hate the bloody fee amount, it's really woeful. However not sure where you are getting your numbers. It's not anywhere close to what you're claiming…

  • Thanks OP, was needing a few more of these.

  • +5

I preferred the Aus post labels…

I used Sendle one time and they took over a week to pick up my parcel (so according to their T&C I ended up getting it for free) and I also had to call/message 3 times to sort it out.

    • +5

Sendle is the worst delivery service I have used in the past few years…

      • Which is a shame, they were really good when they started. I used them heaps 5-6 years ago, but haven’t for ages since they started going downhill.

  • +1

So can you list 3 items again today and keep May promo ongoing for next months as well?

  • +14

So each month it's gone from:

    • 5 free Australia Post labels
    • 3 free Australia Post labels
    • 3 half price Australia Post labels
    • 0 Australia Post labels

Was a good run for a while at least.

    • +4

The pattern of eBay making things slowly worse over time continues

    • "bUt iTs iNfLaTioN !1!11!!"

  • -4

final value fees are such a scam

they charged me final value on shipping and the vat tax

    • +4

Clearly described terms are not a scam.

      • -6

        Which these are not.

You have to be careful not to let the listing auto-renew, or you will pay all fees.
Last time there was meant to be free shipping, but by the time my item sold I could somehow only get 50% off.

And while my final value fee was $0, there was still a AU $0.30 "per order fixed amount" final fee. seriously?!

Whenever eBay has these kind of offers, I don't make assumptions on what I will get charged in the end.

        • +2

          Yes they are.

Everybody using this deal knows that there’s a 30c fee per transaction. They also know that you need to manually relist each item each month - annoying, but worth it.

Postage deals come and go, again - it’s up to you read the terms of the offer and manage accordingly.

You’ve got no right to feel aggrieved here.

as someone whos been trying to sell a bit of stuff lately, these are nice to have… it helps with the insane fees they charge, but i still prefer selling on ebay vs facebook marketplace regardless… have had success on FB but mostly its scammers, time wasters and just plain idiots.

    • +6

      Is this available?

I’m interested and will send my sister to pickup tomorrow since I’m overseas at the moment. I can pay via Payid. Ok deal?

      • +1

just listed some stuff for the first time on fb marketplace a couple of days ago, i've probably seen this message 20 times now. I don't even know what the scam is, do they say they tried to send it and it'll go through eventually?

          • +1

@JHoliday: That article is terribly written - it doesn't actually explain the scam.

So the buyer's sibling rocks up to collect, and wants to send you PayID. You wait for the PayID to arrive in your account, then you hand over the goods.
Unless you hand over the goods without checking you've received the payment (don't do this) then the scam seems to be pretty useless !

        • +1

The thing with scams is they are usually invented by idiots, but they spray and pray targeting thousands of people, hoping to find an even bigger idiot that will hand over their goods or cash.

  • +6

Lots of negative comments about Sendle but I'll chime in to say I have used the service ~6 times over the last couple of months and it has been a fantastic experience. Some of the parcels were delivered in record time.

    • +1

Depends on which area buyer and seller are in really.

    • Yeah same, always positive experience so far. Granted when it goes bad once, it's gonna sully my opinion real quick :)

    • +1

I have used Sendle to send around 150+ parcel via Ebay over the years and only faced problem with around 3 parcels (buyer fraud attempt as item not received, 1 got lost in transit which were refunded for Sendle + ebay).
Important thing is check senders post code using "Courier Please" website and make sure cheapest estimate is low otherwise Sendle will use Aramex (mostly rural areas) which you are asking for trouble. If rural just do Auspost.

I had Sendle via Aramex which wasn't picked up for week so I had to go back to Hubbed location and get it back lol.

Had no issue which Sendle via Courier Please, some parcel delivered next day if you're within same city.

      • I got one where the buyer said the item was stolen. What can I do? Sendle refunded but I still missed out.

All items take days to be picked up.

I'm also in the never again basket. Not worth the effort.

How can a government monopoly do so much better? I'm thankful they've improved their delivery service on feedback.

    • I’ve also had no issue with sendle - though I’ve never used the pick-up option, I’ve always dropped it off.

    • Ive used it over 100 times in the last year majority via parcel pick up @ home (VIC) , no issues, used to send international a lot & only once came close to making an insurance claim for a ridiculously delayed package. they were very responsive & willing to pay out what i had insured it for almost instantly, luckily as we were exchanging emails the issue resolved itself aka package delivered.

  • +1

I've used 2 free final value listings and shipped a few things with free postage and half price postage so more than paid for the Ebay plus membership.

  • now if only they provided the 10% discount coupon off any seller like they used to……

  • Damn it! Just sold my old camera equipment last month. Got charged 12%……

    • +2

This reminds me my first eBay sale - saw "free listing" and jumped on board. Didn't realise there is a final value fee until the MacBook is sold. Got charged for >10%..

      • +1

Yeah, it's not all that obvious unless you sell things often. Having to navigate around the seller tools is a nightmare too, IMO.

    • +1

This exact fee promotion has been running for 2 months now, it automatically resets each month.

  • +1
    1. go to your own item
    2. "sell one like this"
    3. in another tab, delete/end your current listing
    4. click the confirmation on the "sell one like this" page

Is this still valid/the best way to get your items on the final fee promo?

  • +3

Don't ever use Sendle if you want you and or your customer to have even a half decent experience. Too many issues of they use Aramex from memory, Australia's worst courier due to questionable franchisee model of areas even though they aren't profitable

    • Agree AP gone from the deal makes the postage side of this deal dead.

    • Very good experience from my end with Couriers Please, especially metro delioveries

      • If its couriers please and metro delivery then all good no issues

  • +1

Sad Australia Post is gone, I have one close by making it very convenient.

    I hope they come back!

    • Just like how interest rate rises are forcing landlords to pass the increase onto renters.

      Pass the costs onto customers.

  • Good timing. Need to sell my Apple Watch s4 :)

  • +1

Damn they got rid of the aus post discounts

  • sorry new to this ebay+ selling with 0$ VFV.
can somebody confirm if after i activated the promotion and sell first 3 item, i will be charge $0 on final fees and get all the money fee free?

    • You'll get charged 30 cents each for the first 3 items sold (must be an eBay Plus member afaik) but make sure you don't use relist to list your items and probably best to not do so via the app either. Also if you list more than 3 items don't forget to end your listings once the promo is used up. That's about it I think.

      • noted. no relist to be eligible. thanks

  • If I list 3 items today and they don't sell, can I list another 3 items tomorrow for a total of 6 items with $0 variable fees?
Otherwise, if I list 3 items today and they don't sell, do I need to cancel and relist tomorrow?

    • No, 3 items max. If you list 3 items today the promo for May will expire before the new one kicks in.

      • Would I need to relist tomorrow?

    • in the past I've had items i listed late in the month sell during the following months promo cycle and i still only got charged the 30c and my current months promo stayed at 3 remaining.

      • +1

@NutnButAPnut that is still working. Once you make a listing, you have 30 days to sell that item for the promo to apply. In your example, if you list the item on 31 May, then you have up to 30 June to sell the item and still have the May cycle promo apply (eBay hints this in the T&Cs by explicitly not mentioning it in the exclusions section). And by doing this you still have 3 new listings to do for June (which again if you list on the last day of June, you have up until 30 July to sell it and have the June cycle promo apply)

So yes, @nathywathy you could have done that, assuming you haven't used up your 3 listings for the May cycle

    • Don't forget you can list more than 3 things. It's only the first 3 sold that will be fee free

  • So took up offer and if I list 3 items today, do I get another lot of 3 FVF as of tomorrow? or with listing today that's it? I have 5 items I want to sell. I am Ebay Plus.

  • Is there a link we need to click to accept every month as usual?

  • Its a bit confusing because sometimes previous month listings with still get the discount if they sell in the following month, other times you would need to kill all your listings and start fresh in the new month.
    General eBay weirdness

    • It's not that confusing. They just don't track the previous month's promo use which is annoying. I guess it can be considered confusing.

You have 30 days to sell the item from when you list it. If you listed item yesterday you have 30 days to sell it under the listed month's promo, ie: last month's promo

      • +1

@bobs burgers eBay doesn't actually explicitly state it in their T&Cs, but if you can interpret it carefully it doesn't state that it needs to be sold during the promo period for the promo to apply. From these statements in the T&Cs, we can confidently assume this:

        • “Eligible Listings” means item listings that are:
          • newly listed on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period (i.e. they cannot be relisted items through ‘Good ‘til Cancelled (GTC) or auto-renewal);
          • in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only; and
          • not listed in one of the Excluded Categories (as defined below).

        and

        • Eligible Listings will only receive the 0% variable fees until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is GTC. After this, standard eBay fees will apply.
        • +1

Yeah it's the last bit you put in that nails why it works. The eligible listings just makes sure of the constraints including listing during the promo period.

It would be unreasonable to expect to sell something listed at 11:59:00pm by 11:59:59pm :)

      • Sometimes they apply it, sometimes not.
If you sell an item from the previous month within the 30 day period and for some reason the full fee applies (happened to lots of people) CS will quote that the active period was only that specific month.

        • +1

I've never had it fail from me. What what I've seen from the complaints is that the promo doesn't apply when you "sell similar" on the app. Or from whatever reason I have yet to see

          • @I Smell Pennies: Sell similar usually (but not always) works. Best to change up the wording a little but I have had that fail on me once. It was OK for me as as they waived the fee but it showed me that its not consistent

            • @King Tightarse: Weird. Works for me everytime, as sell similar changes the listing ID. Again, reports are it doesn't work if you do it from the app and thus fees apply.

        • +1

Definitely not the case, there is a lot of possible reasons why the full fee may be charged tho.
If you list the item properly within the promo time period, you will always have 30 days to sell it and get $0 fee, even if you list it at 11:59:00pm of the last day of the promo.

Source: I do this more often than not ..

          • +1

@bobs burgers: Well that's my experience - remember this is eBay CS we are talking about here. Next person maybe different.
I have had it fail twice only over all these promos and got off both times by calling. I do use 'sell similar' but change it up a little and I am pretty careful checking the details before listing because I mostly want to avoid talking to eBay CS.

            • +1

@King Tightarse: I haven't had to talk to eBay CS for a while, please don't remind me :p

Saying that I have not reworded or done anything with my sell similar items and it hasn't failed on me yet 👍

          • +1

@bobs burgers: Same with me. I do it all the time, sell similar straight from the Active Listings page. No problems ever

(ignore the title, I won't be selling these items, it's just so I can get the listings active at 0 qty so I can sell another item and have the promo apply)

            • +1

@I Smell Pennies: Lol, I remember to do it at night so I'm pushing closer to 12am deadline than most people. Hahahha
Yesterday I even made a dummy listing at 11:50pm something and then updated it properly after midnight

      • +2

        @bobs burgers
Also if you look at their newest promo T&Cs:

        Exclusions:

        • This Promotion does not apply to:
          • Listings created before the Promotion Period even if they are scheduled to start during the Promotion Period;
          • Listings scheduled to start after the Promotion Period ends;
          • Listings that are relisted during the Promotion Period, either manually, through the automatic relist function, or the GTC function;
          • Listings that are listed during the Promotion Period but do not sell and are relisted outside of the Promotion Period;
          • Any item sold before the Promotion Period, or before the Registration Date; or
          • Listings in Classified Ad format.

Further implying it can be sold after the promotion period, as long as the item hasn't renewed or relisted. Also, it doesn't mention "sell similar" implying it can be used (just don't use the app)

        • +1

Yeah I'm clinging onto sell similar. It keeps working and I use the site via PC when I do this so I didn't know about the app not working same as the site

          • +1

@bobs burgers: Same here. The issues are what I've read from comments. I can confirm it also works if you sell similar on the mobile web broswer. Just avoid the eBay app :P

  • Does this carry over the current listing that's already using the current month's free final value fees offer? Dont want to have to delete current listing if it hasnt sold by end of month.

  • Anyone know if we can join Plus for $4.99 to get the promo, sell an item to get $0 FvF, and then cancel Plus afterwards?

Yes, i've already use the Free Trial

    • You can cancel the eBay plus anytime after it's activated. I'd probably wait a month from memory just to be on the safe side.

After you cancel you retain membership till the year of your membership elapses. That means you retain these promos for the year

  • Had been waiting for this to sell my old laptop, was going to use Sendle anyway as they have been cheaper and good for me (inner Melb).

  • OP, I dont think $0 variable promotion is a reset for June though?

    Nothing in my accounts.

    • Just kidding - it reset in my account. You just have to check the seller overview.

  • Looks like this is still part of the original April promotion. If you sold 3 items without fees since then you are out of luck at least until the end of this month…

  • I guess there is no way to use the discounted sendle labels on something they you don't sell via Ebay?

    • +1

Guess you can make a $1 sale listing to someone you know?

  • How do you get it? it says I am not available for the promotion. Just sold a $600 item :(

    • Are you an eBay Plus member?
