Here are some more vacuum deals and a deal for the Nintendo 3DS XL.
Just received an e-mail today showing further deals and price cuts. So for those of you who have not yet taken advantage of the other deals here are some more. Incidentally these models have not been included in my post before so there is no duplication.
Also note, Amazon Italy has an accessory for Dysons for sale which could be bought at the same time (costs 37 plus added postage if combined or $67 delivered if bought on its own.) The accessory is Dyson 921000-01 (pet groomer) which is for vacuuming up pet hair, especially dog hair. The cheapest for the accessory I could find was $80 delivered.
The Bosch vacuums are very good value given their high quality and longevity. You will find they are significantly more expensive in Australia.
Use Google Translate (http://translate.google.com) to read the pages in detail.

All you need for these vacuums is a power plug adaptor which costs only a few dollars and which will also come in handy if you buy other electronics from Europe.

I know the Nintendo 3DS XL deal has been posted before from Amazon Italy but it shows as expired so I posted it again as now the cheapest is from Amazon Germany (still a saving of about $35-40$ as compared to prices in Australia and games are not region locked as far as I know).

It would be great if you use the affiliate links if you decide to buy - you won't pay more - it just means Amazon's profits are a little bit reduced and you support the poster and recognise the efforts that went into finding the deals and writing this rather long post (and in my case it will support further development of software designed to help find deals available to Australians). Thank you.
I hope the deals are useful to you.

Here they are:

  • Wow had no idea the XL 3DS was already released!

    Hi Gallifrey,
I saw your other Dyson post and it was very informative and having a look in local stores its a hell of lot cheaper. I need to buy a vacuum suitable for a 4x2 house with wood/tiles flooring.
What can you recommend me? Budget ~$400 and I prefer Dyson. And hit me up with your affiliate link :)

    • As a Dyson owner, let me say that most of them don't suck (if you know what I mean). Read www.productreview.com.au for reviews of most vacs …
      http://www.productreview.com.au/c/vacuum-cleaners/m/dyson.ht…

The Miele tend to be quite good - but expect to pay dearly for the bags (unless you get the knock offs on eBay).

If you do get a Dyson, note that they
      - don't suck up much (compared to at least the Miele)
      - generate static (at least mine and a friend's model do - I get zapped every 5 minutes when I use it)
      - are damn noisy

I own the DC-08 - and according to the wikipedia article on Dyson, there hasn't been a big change in technology since the DC-08 was released.

    • I will get back to you after I had my lunch in about 20-30 minutes.

      OK, here it goes.

If you want a Dyson and given your budget and requirement it seems to me that the Dyson DC29 Allergy Parquet is best value for money and has the extra nozzle/head for hard floor/parquet/tiles. It also has the HEPA filter. Alternatively, the DC24 all floors is not much more expensive. Here it comes down to what style of vacuum you prefer (the DC24 is an "upright", vertical vacuum while the DC29 is a "drag behind" vacuum if you know what I mean). Both have HEPA filters so there is no difference.

If you could live with a vacuum with bags the Siemesn Silence Power VSQ4G2122 seems to be a good choice. That one also comes with a hard floor nozzle/head. It also comes with an upholstery nozzle and crevice nozzle. And it is well within your budget at $251 delivered. Siemens is a high quality brand (German made) and in my experience their products have a long lifetime.

If you go for a Miele I would probably recommend the S762. Reading through the features it seems to be quite powerful, offer a good range of features (such as six settings to regulate suction power) and it comes with crevice and upholstery nozzles. My grandma used to have a Miele which lasted forever (my boss today told me she has one, too which has been going for almost 20 years in her house in Hobart). I am not sure how much the bags cost in Australia and I am not sure whether they can be emptied and reused to save money. However, I am not sure how many bags one would need in a year - if it is not very many (which I think is true given that the volume of the bags is 4 litres which is a whole lot of dust and dirt) then having a dust free home is probably worth it.

Finally, the Bosch I put below seems to be extremely good value for money. It comes with a turbo head and a parquet head (which is what you want for your wood and tile flooring) as well as an XXL upholstery nozzle (turbo head and and the upholstery nozzle are extremely useful for pet hair and the like) it has HEPA filter and some other filters inbuilt. It is cokparatively quiet (dezibels) and is a BAGLESS vacuum, just like the Dyson. Again, as the Miele and Siemens, Bosch is German built which stands for high quality and longevity (maybe talk to some friends who have Bosch appliances such as washing machines, drills, dryers, dish washers etc. to confirm). It also has various settings to regulate suction power.
Given the high quality and the accessories it comes with this Bosch is a great alternative to a Dyson and is well within your budget.
What is comes down to is really that all of the vacuums I talked about above are good quality vacuums. The decision is between bag or bagless, upright or low vacuum, and whether you really need to have a particular brand (Dyson) or would be happy with another (such as Bosch or Miele). Parts and bags are available in Australia for all vacuums, but most readily for the Dyson, Bosch, and Miele.
Now the choice is yours. I hope I could help. If you decide to buy, use of the respective affiliate link would be much appreciated.

      • You my friend are a champion. My mum has been on my back for the past week for good deals on vacuum cleaners and hers just recently broke. The Bosch and DC29 do look like very appealing options as the house is carpetless, being mainly wooden and tiny sections of tilings. Which one would you recommend out of the two? And will definitely be using your affiliated link with the purchase for your time whether you reply or not haha.

        • Well, I guess my advice above for kevron applies here, too. Of course, you could also choose the DC37 Parquet floors which is more expensive and I suppose offers improved root cycolne technology (in the case of the DC37 it is now called radial root cyclone technology).

Check my previous posts in case you have not already.

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77372

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77476

Of course if your mum is not an obessive vacuum person a Miele (with a bag) might also be an option as they normally last very long and have strong suction.
Out of the DC29 and the Bosch BGS51442 I suppose the Bosch will be slighly better value as it has a bit more accessories coming with it and Bosch stands for high quality. It also has a 3l container while the Dyson has a 2l container and the Bosch is also 1.5kg lighter if that makes any difference to you. It also is pretty silent.
Of course, Dyson is probably a bit more popular in Australia given the fact it originates in England and I suppose a bit more prestigious in Australia (in case people compare vacuums ;-))
I suggest you just tell your mum about these two models, give her the pro and cons and let her decide. After all I guess she will be the main user so it should be her call.

I hope that helps you a little bit.
And I appreciate it very much if you use the affiliate link if you decide to buy.

          Thank you.

P.S.: If you want a budget option you can always try the Miele S2111 for $173 delivered which also comes with furniture nozzle, upholstery nozzle, floor brush, crevice tool, has 9 level filter system, and has a 4.5 bag capacity.

Got the Bosch in the end, thanks mate!

        • +1

Great. Bosch is good German quality. We just bought a washing machine and could not be happier. If my dad's drill is anything to go buy the Bosch will be with you for at least 15 years.
Have a great afternoon and let us know when it arrives.

  • I'm almost convinced Gallifrey has shares in Amazon LOL.

    • +1

I wish, I really do wish. I think I would be somewhere on the beach on Curacao or the like.!

    • It can be a pain to compare between different Amazon accounts, so I definitely appreciate it

  • +2

I just received my Dyson DC29 Allergy Parquet from Gallifrey's previous Amazon.it post - in 5 days! Happy as a squirrel-in-a-bag-o-nuts!

  • Absolutely love your work. What a dude!

  • I'm tempted by the dog groomer, but the drawback is that the sound of the Dyson freaks my dogs out. Bummer! And it's a good price too.

    • +1

Same for my doggie - he stays away from anything that makes noise (lawn mover, vacuum cleaner, washing machine etc.) with the exception of other dogs. I wish I could use a grooming accessory like the Dyson on him, would make life a bit easier.

      • +1

Last vacuum we had the dogs chased. The motor noise of the Dyson is different, higher pitched I think, and they make themselves scarce.

However, if your dog does ignore the sound of the Dyson, it would be well worth investigating. If for no other reason than to make a video like Vacuuming the Corbs.

        • +1

Thanks. I will check whether he is fine with a Dyson but I suspect he won't. He likes to play tough but really is a little chicken.

  • I just want to say give a big thank you to Gallifrey for these awesome deals. I just received my Dyson DC29 Allergy Parquet today and the Mrs. is thrilled! So cheers big ears!

P.S. Also my mother in-law and her sisters just asked me to place another order for the same vacuum. and for those that are interested I ordered mine last week on Wednesday and received today by UPS!

  • aint they both affiliate links?

    • The "ref" attribute in the non-affiliate link is broken for a start, even though the link works. It is likely the tracking attribute from an Amazon newsletter. They use it to track click-throughs from the mail out.

The affiliate link includes the "tag" attribute, the one that ends in "21".

  • I feel fabulously free to fiddle with Gallifrey's affiliate links.
Today's comment has been brought to you by the letter 'f'.

    • Very funny and mature, mate. Seems like you become one of those people you refer to with your f word, at least according to your article by insane Boris Johnson.
Oh, well - might just have to move the Amazon deals elsewhere because of you, hey?!
I take it you meant your comment as a joke and/or a provocation so let's call it quits now. I'd rather use my time to find more deals for the Ozbargainers.

      • Please feel free to use my affiliate link.

        • Sure. If you send me your e-mail address I will send you a nice article describing what that would be called. ;-)
          Quits now!

Now go away or i shall taunt you a second time.

  • Brilliant post Gallifrey.
Which Bagless can you recommend , other then Dyson within 300$ for carpets and hard floors (tiles) ? I really like the Bosch one but that;s going over my budget. I was initially looking to buy something under 250$ but I think I can stretch my budget to 300$.

    • Hello namz,

thanks for the compliment. You kind of answered your own question in that the DC29Origin and the DC29 Allergy Parquet come closest to your budget. The Allergy Parquet comes with the extra head for hard floors so it seems perfect for you.
Alternatives to Dyson in your price range are the Numatic Henry and Hetty vacuums. Have a look at them whether you like them. In the review mentioned in one of my post by a poster they seem to come out very well.
Of course, if you want to go cheap and do not mind a vacuum with a bag you have a lot more options. You could go for a Miele which has great suction and in my experience is very high quality and long-lasting.
Finally, the Bosch I put below is very good value, too (but with a bag) as it comes with lots of useful accessories and is high quality, too (German engineering and quality).
So, if you want cheapest vacuum possible and do not use it on a daily basis, go with a Miele as it will last long and clean well. If you want the cheapest possible bagless vacuum it really comes down between the Dysons and Numatic. Given the "obessession" (meant in a nice way and positively) with Dyson in Australia I probably would go with the DC29 Allergy Parquet as it seems to meet all of your requirements and comes with the extra head for hard floors. In the end it also comes down to brand preference and things like colour (the allergy parquet is purple, the Origin is yellow)
Using my affiliate link when you buy would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and I hope I could help.

  • Thanks mate !
A quick question , how do you get final price when u order on Amazon.it to appear in AUD ? Mine is coming up in Euros but in Amazon.de it comes up in AUD for some reason.

Reason I am asking this is because , your above link DC29 link says 312$ , But I go to link and do the final price it comes up as 279.19 Euro and Then when i convert that with Xe , I get 333$ not 312$

    • You are right. That is because they raised the price a bit since the post. When I posted it, it was indeed $312 delivered. Sorry about that but Amazon constantly adjusts it prices - I cannot keep track of it.
I suspect that they use dynamic pricing which means the raise prices if the demand increases to maximise their profits.
So, if you need it urgently, there is no way around but to pay the extra $20. Alternatively, wait for maybe 5 or 7 days and see what the price is then. If demand drops, then they might drop it a bit again. However, keep in mind that that vacuum is the only vacuum where Amazon charges only 35 Euro for postage - there is a risk they latch on to that and increase that. I am not saying they will but they might. The low postage is what makes this a particularly good deal (as other vacuum carry a charge of 70 Euro or more).
Also, you could go for a different vacuum. But if you can afford the $20 extra I probably would as you get the extra parquet head for that as opposed to the Origin where you would have to buy that specialised brush extra. I do not think you will regret buying this particular model of Dyson.
Sorry about that but what Amazon does, is not in my power (yet! ;-).
I hope that despite the slight price rise you still consider using my affiliate link.
      Thank you.

      • Amazon..ehhh….

        Thanks Gallifrey..you are a champion !

And I would rather spend 347$ (another 14$) and get Bosch then DC29. I dont like noise that Dyson's make !!

        • Well, great. That's sorted. Go for the Bosch then and don't wait too long - who knows what Amazon is up to.

        • I will wait n watch for another 4-5 days and see how pricing goes.. i m not in hurry…when i buy offcourse i will be using your affiliate link ..without a doubt..i can atleast do that..

        • Thank you and good luck with the price.

    • My waffle on conversion rates may tangentially interest you as well:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77318#comment-987248

      • Always pay in your own currency but let the banks convert it - better rate and if you certain cards then no fees or low fees.

I use www.oanda.com to arrive at my OZ prices. That is the converter the European institutions use so it has some cred.

        • Not sure that's quite phrased right.

What i think you're trying to say is pay in the currency that is local to the site (say EUR if Amazon.de/.fr/.it), as only then is it your bank that carries out the conversion (rather than Amazon).

If you pay in AUD, on any Amazon site, then the conversion is carried out by Amazon (which is usually more expensive).

        • if you use certain cards is what I meant of course.

yes, you understood it correctly. Sorry for the confusion. If you let Amazon convert it, then they make profit on that, too.

  • A question - would Watts on vacuum cleaner makes a difference to its suction power ?
For example for 2 Bosch seems pretty good ones. 1st one is 1300 Watts , 2nd one is 2200 Watts . So does that means 2nd one is more powerful and has better suction power ?

    • Both of them have good suction. In fact, I checked on the Bosch homepage and the German Amazon page for the vacuum - it looks as if the Italian site has made a mistake. The second one has 1400W which is more than sufficient for strong suction (many Dyson have 1300 or 1400W).
You will be happy with both. If you have hard floors and pets I would go for the first one as it comes with those accessories. In the end it comes down to preference. Prices are comparable so it is really just a matter of choice.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could use my affiliate links if you decide to buy.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

  • Just checking back in - have some of you who ordered received their order yet? I am just curious for information as it would help for future queries by people on how long items take to ship on average - it should take 2-6 days according to Amazon - would be great to know whether they keep their promise.

  • Hi Gallifrey , I ordered my Bosch one yesterday. Will let you know as soon as it arrives.

    • Thanks. I just want to know how satisfied people are with the posts and the service provided by Amazon (as that impacts on the quality of the post and bargain posted). I am sure you will be happy with the Bosch.

  • Received my Bosch on Saturday i.e. 1st Sept. Very impressed so far with suction power and noise level.
