    $99 bike, $240 shipping…

    • $149 for Sydney Metro

    • i see your $240 and raise you $249 to Perth

  • Ordered one, great deal and thank you for posting.

  • Good price for a rideable BSO

    • -2

will also make excellent BSO hardwaste

  • +6

From the days of covid bike shortages to this wow. Feels like so much bike discounting going on now eg. the Marin deal.

Sure this is super entry level & old tech - but at the end of the day for this price point, it is a bike with standard components & mechanic workshop built and a much better option than department stores. Anything that makes riding more accessible to everyone is a plus.

  • Bought this bike for my son a few years back. Quite a good bike for what it is. At this price it is definitely a good deal

  • Tried purchasing some shirts & pants but received following error:

"Our apologies, but we do not currently ship to Western Australia."

    • but it says "Australia Wide Delivery" :(

      • +5

Yeah, to the REAL Australia, not that western bit

        • When even your own premier gives up on the state

          • @Jackson: Far better to go out on top, than be dragged out the door by ICAC.

    • +2

I got this error before. It's because some items are not available for shipping but they don't tell you which one. Try removing items until you stop getting the message.

    rim brakes🫣🫣

    • i heard they are better than bad disc breaks

      • +1

i would much rather bad disc brakes than bad rim brakes 🫣

    • +4

      $99 you expected disc breaks?
I was also very upset it didn’t have carbon disc wheel and SRAM crankset.

      • +1

& mechanical shifting? …..what is this the 1900s???

      • I expected Di2 for $99

  • Would 2 of these fit in a mid size suv boot with front tyres removed?

    • +2

      nah…youre supposed to ride them!!

    • yes, it fits. it fits mine with the tyres on

  • -1

Off road bike without disc brakes???

    • -1

this is as 'off road' as a skateboard…

    • +1

If you're a kid weighing 40kg and generally riding it around inner city bike paths, then discs brakes a going to make almost zero difference. If you are happy to pay $500 extra for a bike with disc brakes, then yes, you will get what you pay for

      • +2

Wait after they bump their tyre so many time and the wheel and rim become not straight, the break is hitting the rim on every cycle.

        • +1

if that becomes an issue, you need to relearn how to ride a bike. it's not bumper cars mate.

          • @Hugh G Rection: Or learn not to buy a bike without disk break also ok

            • @SnoozeAndLose: disc brake or not, i wouldn't want to ride with a bent rim. ymmv

i think there is a slight difference between a $99 bike and a $500 bike.

        • +1

I used to do plenty off off road riding in the 90s on a Shogun with rim brakes. Never had break or rim issues (other than occasionally replacing/ adjusting the pads).

          • @Duff5000: absolutely, they have been riding bikes forever before the invention of disc brakes.

  • Would this bike be ok for someone looking to start riding to work?

It's a 10km ride on a bike path. I haven't ridden in over 20 years so don't want to make too much of an initial investment just in case it's not my thing.

    • +2

if the reason is price, sure, but id be changing the tyres to a commuter/urban style tread

    • +1

For the price to try it out, yeah. You really can't spend any cheaper outside of borrowing a bike or getting a free one from FB etc (and in that case, probably needs $ and work). And if it isn't your thing, you can sell it for not much of a loss or just donate/give it away.

Downside is it isn't the most optimal ride. A hybrid/urban/commuter would roll smoother, all the gears will shift nicer etc. Just bear it in mind when assessing whether you like it or not.

    • 10km, no thanks. im driving or buying a motorcycle for that distance. also factor in hot days, cold days, rain, snow, lazy days, etc…

      • snow? lmao

        you should add tornadoes

  • Anyone who click and collect in Melbourne received email to collect yet.

I suspect it may be sold to early bird customers who go in store.

And they haven't have a chance to process online orders.

    • Yes. But last time that happened, they sold my item before I picked it up.

      • I very much suspect this is the case…

        • Picked mine up yesterday along with about 8 other people.

      • So they don't ring fence the ready to collect item?

    • +1

i called up this morning and mine was ready. probably worth ringing

  • I could not find the dimensions of the box, does anyone happen to find out/know?

    • +1

I picked mine up and they took it out of the box for me. Depending on size, it’s either got the front wheel fitted or attached to the side.

    • +1

Box is Large…. But once you take it out , it should easily fit into a medium size SUV, like cx5 ,raV 4 etc
If brand new out of a box front wheel is not attached. IF attached , there is a quick release for front wheel . SO no problem to remove it.

      • Appreciate the response guys.. i just got a measly sedan ;p

        • +1

I squeezed my bike into a 2008 aurion sedan in rear passenger seat.. Just fit in nicely.. Just…

So anything smaller will be challenge I presume.

          • +1

            @ttt888: Really helpful.. thanks.

            • @superm86: I should add my model is size L.. if size M for you even easier…. I have a friend who fit a size M into the boot of his small sedan.. With front wheel removed.

  • The deal is still valid, available sizes XS, S and M

  • Don't forget to purchase a bike stand
