Live Data from Electricity Provider

Hi OzBargain Community,

I used to be with Mojo Power (back when they were still taking on new customers) and their online and app portals allowed you to see your electricity usage live (provided you had a smart meter) with about a 10-15 second delay.

Are there any other electricity retailers that provide this type of live access/portal?

I've made some habitual changes to the appliances I use, as well as having purchased new appliances and I want to see what my usage is like at the moment.

I am currently with Red Energy and they do not provide any sort of portal.

P.S. I am not looking for the AGL type of portal that shows you your usage in 30 min increments one or two days later, I am only interested in other retailers like Mojo that have a live feed from your smart meter.

TIA

    https://www.powerpal.net/ is a good choice

  • My wholesaler (AusNet) shows me data (generally available the next day for the previous day) so that is pretty good.

Otherwise real time, I have a PowerPal as well. Very good unit! Helpful with Solar.

  • 10-15 sec is pretty real-time! when i was with agl it used to be a couple of days later

my current smart meter only displays to the nearest 0.1kWh

can't you just read off the smart meter display in real-time?

    • That's not very practical mate..

more practical than trying to find a retailer who will supply usage data in real-time …

Got this installed free in Vic: https://emeraldhome.com.au/. You might want to check if it's available to you as some govt initiative.

Some years ago (when we were with origin), they gave us this real time power monitor. It was of limited value at the time but has come into its own since we had solar installed. Eg. Once it reads minus 2.0kw, I know it's a good time to run the washing machine or dishwasher
I really like it as it's free standing (rather than app based)
(I assume that origin preconfigured it as all I did was plug it in)
I’m GUESSING our device uses zigbee protocol (rather than wifi or Bluetooth) to talk to our smart meter
FiL has since had solar installed and I asked the sparky about it but he hadn’t heard of them
