Beware of Fake La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus Sold by Third-Party Sellers on Amazon

Moved to Forum: Original Link

READ FIRST sorry for the misleading post but I don't know how to raise awareness otherwise

I bought this a while ago and the comments suspected it was fake, so I bought this more expensive one sold by amazon au itself and long behold they smell distinctly different, I'm talking hamburger and carrot juice difference of a smell

disclaimer I don't know how amazon stocks work, and it may not be correlated to which seller you buy it from, but I can confirm 100% these two supposed indentical products I bought are completely different chemicals

How to avoid counterfeit purchasing La Roche-Posay items: See image for explanation

That previous sale is still active with the same link just under a different store name

    As long as it's:

    Ships from: Amazon AU
    Sold by: Amazon AU

    Then it should be fine.

All the counterfeit La Roche-Posay Products that are sold on Amazon, are ''Ships from Amazon" but "Sold By" a (new) third party stores.

It's so confusing, wouldn't blame any average punter for being confused by all this, especially if it's sold by third party store, shipped from Amazon, and is a Prime item.

Agreed, i was surprised when they were actual Prime items shipped from Amazon.

That would suggest that Amazon doesn't check if the products they receive from third party seller are genuine or counterfeit…

Thanks OP. Big fan of their products, esp the sunscreen.

Thanks OP, just requested for a refund and got it!

  • Is this a moisturiser?

The problem is not limited to this particular LRP product. The popular LRP sunscreen has the same problem -currently defaults to a seller with one rating

  • I assume anything not sold by Amazon AU or another company that operates their own site/retail stores is counterfeit. Only buy Alibaba type stuff from them.

  • Did the containers look any different?

I bought one in July, but how do I tell if it's fake or not? I don't have any others to compare the smell to or anything like that

  • La Roche are great products to many fakes on amazon and ebay unfortunatley if its way under retail probably fake

  • Not all sellers on Amazon are selling counterfeit items. It’s easier to sell fake products on eBay than on Amazon, where stricter regulations make it more difficult to sell counterfeit goods.
